...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR WESTERN MT/NORTHERN ID...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER TROUGH WILL SHIFT EASTWARD ACROSS THE GREAT LAKES REGION/NEW
ENGLAND TODAY. IN THE WEST...UPPER RIDGE WILL CONTINUE TO GRADUALLY
   INTENSIFY OVER THE CENTRAL/SOUTHERN ROCKIES...WITH WARM/DRY
CONDITIONS ACROSS MUCH OF THE WEST. ON THE PERIPHERY OF THE UPPER
RIDGE...A SHORTWAVE TROUGH WILL CROSS THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST THIS
AFTERNOON/TONIGHT...LEADING TO INCREASED WIND SPEEDS DOWNSTREAM
ACROSS THE NORTHERN ROCKIES/CONTINENTAL DIVIDE VICINITY.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - WESTERN MT/NORTHERN ID...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS/LOW RH AND DROUGHT

WESTERLY WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE THIS AFTERNOON ACROSS THE
NORTHERN ROCKIES...OWING TO THE APPROACH OF THE UPSTREAM SYSTEM
ACROSS THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AND DOWNSLOPE/FAVORABLE MIXING. IT
APPEARS THE STRONGEST WIND SPEEDS WILL BE ACROSS NORTHWEST
MT...ALONG THE EAST SLOPE OF THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE. SUSTAINED
WESTERLY WINDS AROUND 20 MPH ARE LIKELY WITH HIGHER GUSTS...ALONG
WITH CRITICALLY LOW RH VALUES...ESPECIALLY INTO THE HIGH PLAINS EAST
   OF THE DIVIDE.

...EASTERN MT AND SOUTHERN ID/WESTERN WY...
OUTSIDE OF THE CRITICAL RISK AREA...ALTHOUGH LOCALLY CRITICAL
CONDITIONS ARE POSSIBLE...THE OVERALL FIRE WEATHER THREAT SHOULD BE
COMPARATIVELY LESSER ACROSS EASTERN MT/SOUTHERN ID/WESTERN WY OWING
TO LIGHTER WIND SPEEDS AND/OR RELATIVELY RECENT RAINFALL.

   ...NORTHERN PA/UPSTATE NY...
WINDY AND WARM CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TODAY ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE
NORTHEAST AS A SURFACE LOW DEEPENS ALONG THE ONTARIO/QUEBEC AND U.S.
CANADIAN BORDER. AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 80S/LOWER 90S
WILL BE COMMON...WITH SUSTAINED SOUTHWEST WINDS POTENTIALLY AS HIGH
AS 15 MPH. HOWEVER...ANY HEIGHTENED FIRE DANGER WILL BE LIMITED BY
INCREASING CLOUD COVER/SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS BY MID/LATE
   AFTERNOON.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR MUCH OF MT/EASTERN ID/FAR NORTHERN
   UT AND WESTERN/CENTRAL WY...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
WITH THE BROAD UPPER RIDGE REMAINING CENTERED ACROSS THE
   CENTRAL/SOUTHERN ROCKIES...A POTENT SHORTWAVE TROUGH/MID LEVEL JET
AND ATTENDANT COLD FRONT WILL CROSS THE NORTHERN ROCKIES ON SUNDAY.
ASSOCIATED INCREASED WINDS SPEEDS AND/OR A WIND SHIFT WITH THE COLD
FRONT WILL LEAD TO CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ACROSS A LARGE
PART OF THE NORTHERN ROCKIES/CONTINENTAL DIVIDE REGION.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - MUCH OF MT/EASTERN ID/FAR NORTHERN
   UT AND WESTERN/CENTRAL WY...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG/GUSTY WINDS AND COLD FRONTAL PASSAGE

A BROAD EXTENT OF CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER POTENTIAL IS EXPECTED ACROSS
THE NORTHERN ROCKIES ON SUNDAY IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE SHORTWAVE
TROUGH/COLD FRONT CROSSING THE REGION DURING THE DAY. BROAD SCALE
WESTERLY WINDS WILL LIKELY BE STRONG/GUSTY BY AFTERNOON...WITH
SUSTAINED WINDS IN EXCESS OF 20 MPH POSSIBLE...ESPECIALLY ALONG/JUST
EAST OF THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE FROM WEST CENTRAL MT INTO EASTERN
ID/WESTERN WY. ALTHOUGH TEMPERATURES/RH VALUES MAY TEND TO BE MORE
MARGINAL ACROSS PORTIONS OF MT...THE STRONG/GUSTY WINDS AND COLD
