   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0402 AM CDT SAT SEP 01 2007

   VALID 011200Z - 021200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER LEVEL TROUGH AND ASSOCIATED SURFACE LEE TROUGH AND COLD FRONT
WILL MOVE THROUGH THE NRN PLAINS LATE THIS AFTERNOON. DRY AIR AND
MODERATE WINDS WILL LEAD TO NEAR CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS.
FARTHER WEST...ANOTHER UPPER TROUGH APPROACHES THE PACIFIC
NORTHWEST...WHILE UPPER RIDGE OVER SRN NV MAINTAINS MONSOONAL
THUNDERSTORMS FROM SRN CA/AZ TO THE SRN/CNTRL ROCKIES. ELSEWHERE
ACROSS THE NATION...SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE EXTENDS FROM NEW ENGLAND
TROUGH THE APPALACHIANS...WITH SCT TSTMS CONFINED MAINLY TO THE SERN
   STATES.

   ...NRN PLAINS...
FOLLOWING THE PASSAGE OF A LEE TROUGH AND IN THE VICINITY OF
APPROACHING SURFACE COLD FRONT...WLY/NWLY SURFACE WINDS WILL
INCREASE TO 15 TO 25 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS. TEMPERATURES IN THE
UPPER 80S TO LOWER 90S WILL SUPPORT MINIMUM RH OF 15 TO 20% OVER ERN
MT...AND 20 TO 25% ACROSS THE WRN DAKOTAS.

   ...NERN CA...
THE COMBINATION OF AN UPPER TROUGH APPROACHING THE ERN PACIFIC AND
UPPER RIDGE OVER THE SOUTHWEST BRINGS MODERATE SWLY FLOW TO NRN CA.
CLEAR SKIES...WARM TEMPERATURES AND DEEP/WELL MIXED BOUNDARY LAYER
WILL RESULT IN A PERIOD OF GUSTY SWLY SURFACE WINDS /15 TO 25 MPH/
AND RELATIVELY LOW RH /12 TO 18%/ THIS AFTERNOON.

   ...SRN CA/COLORADO RIVER VALLEY...
THE UPPER RIDGE NEAR SRN NV WILL BRING WARM TEMPERATURES AND
SUFFICIENT MOISTURE FOR ISOLATED TO SCATTERED AFTERNOON/EVENING
THUNDERSTORMS FROM SRN CA TO THE COLORADO RIVER VALLEY. THE AIRMASS
IS FAIRLY MOIST /PRECIPITABLE WATER 1.0 TO 1.25"/ BUT WARM
CONDITIONS NEAR THE UPPER RIDGE /MAX SFC TEMPERATURES 105-110/
PRESENT A THERMODYNAMICALLY FAVORABLE ENVIRONMENT FOR DRY
THUNDERSTORMS ALONG THE WRN PERIPHERY OF DEEPER MOISTURE. THE LACK
OF A WELL DEFINED FOCUSING MECHANISM WILL TEND TO KEEP STORMS NEAR
   TERRAIN/THERMALLY FAVORABLE LOCATIONS...AND THEREFORE PRECLUDES A
   CRITICAL AREA.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0403 AM CDT SAT SEP 01 2007

   VALID 021200Z - 031200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
THE UPPER RIDGE OVER THE WRN U.S. SHIFTS NWD ON SUNDAY...BECOMING
POSITIONED OVER CNTRL UT BY THE END OF THE PERIOD. AS AN UPPER
TROUGH DEEPENS ACROSS THE ERN PACIFIC...SWLY FLOW INCREASES IN THE
PACIFIC NORTHWEST THROUGH THE NRN ROCKIES. FARTHER EAST...SURFACE
HIGH PRESSURE MAINTAINS A GENERALLY DRY PATTERN FROM THE NORTHEAST
TO THE MID ATLANTIC REGION...EXTENDING WWD INTO THE CENTRAL PLAINS.
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE AGAIN EXPECTED FROM THE SOUTHEAST TO
CNTRL TX...WITH MONSOON THUNDERSTORMS AGAIN IN THE SOUTHWEST.

   ...CNTRL ID/SWRN MT...
AS THE UPPER RIDGE SHIFTS NWD SUNDAY...SWLY FLOW BEGINS TO INCREASE
OVER THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AND NORTHWEST INTERIOR. MOSTLY CLEAR
SKIES AND SEASONABLY WARM TEMPERATURES WILL RESULT IN MINIMUM RH
AROUND 15%. A DEEP MIXED LAYER PRODUCES A PERIOD OF BREEZY WINDS
SUNDAY AFTERNOON...SUSTAINED AT 10 TO 20 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS.

   ...SRN GREAT BASIN...
MID LEVEL MOISTURE SHOULD INCREASE OVER THE GREAT BASIN AS THE
AFOREMENTIONED UPPER RIDGE SHIFTS TOWARD CNTRL UT. THIS COULD RESULT
IN ISOLATED DRY THUNDERSTORMS...MAINLY OVER THE HIGHER
TERRAIN...ALONG THE WRN PERIPHERY OF DEEPER MONSOONAL MOISTURE.
