   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0246 AM CDT SAT SEP 08 2007

   VALID 081200Z - 091200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A BROAD UPPER TROUGH WILL STRETCH FROM THE NRN ROCKIES INTO THE
GREAT LAKES...WITH EMBEDDED SHORTWAVE MOVING ACROSS THE DAKOTAS INTO
THE UPPER MS VALLEY THIS AFTERNOON WITH ATTENDANT SURFACE LOW. A
COLD FRONT WILL EXTEND FROM THIS LOW SWWD ACROSS NEB INTO NRN CO AND
STRETCHING WWD ACROSS THE NRN GREAT BASIN AND INTO SRN OREGON WITH
NLY WINDS BEHIND. MEANWHILE...A VERY WARM AND DRY AIR MASS WILL
REMAIN OVER THE SE AND MID ATLANTIC UNDER UPPER RIDGE...BUT WINDS
WILL BE LIGHT. LATE IN THE PERIOD...AN AMPLIFYING UPPER TROUGH WILL
DIVE SWD OUT OF WRN CANADA INTO THE PACIFIC NW...AND WILL BEGIN TO
ENHANCE DRY ELY FLOW W OF THE CASCADES WITH INCREASING FIRE DANGER.

   ...SWRN WA...WRN OREGON...
HIGH PRESSURE WILL CONTINUE TO BUILD E OF THE CASCADES BEHIND A COLD
FRONT. THE PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL BE FAVORABLE FOR GUSTY NLY WINDS
WITH THE STRONGEST GUSTS OVER WRN OREGON W OF THE CASCADES WHERE
SUSTAINED SPEEDS OF 15-20 MPH WILL EASILY BE ATTAINED WITH LOCAL
GUSTS OVER 30 MPH. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL GENERALLY REACH THE LOWER
80S WHICH WILL BRING RH LEVELS DOWN TO NEAR 25 PERCENT...RESULTING
   IN INCREASED FIRE DANGER.

   ...SWRN SD...WRN NEB...SERN WY...NERN CO...
A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH TODAY WITH WINDS SHIFTING TO A NLY
DIRECTION AND INCREASING TO 15-25 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS. RH WILL BE
MARGINALLY LOW FROM 25-30 PERCENT WITH TEMPERATURES MAINLY IN THE
70S FOR A MARGINAL AFTERNOON FIRE THREAT.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0346 AM CDT SAT SEP 08 2007

   VALID 091200Z - 101200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR WRN OREGON AND FAR SWRN WA...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR NWRN CO...EXTREME NERN UT...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR MUCH OF CNTRL UT...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER TROUGH WILL MOVE SEWD ACROSS THE NRN AND CNTRL ROCKIES WITH
A SURFACE COLD FRONT CREATING CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS FOR PORTIONS
OF UT AND CO DUE TO SHIFTING WINDS AND DRY THUNDERSTORMS. A STRONG
PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL SET UP ACROSS THE OREGON CASCADES WITH STRONG
E WINDS AND VERY LOW RH EXPECTED FOR WRN OREGON. MEANWHILE...WARM
AND DRY CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE FROM NRN GA INTO THE CNTRL/WRN
CAROLINAS UNDER UPPER RIDGE AND ON WRN FRINGE OF SUB-TROPICAL LOW.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - WRN OREGON AND FAR SWRN WA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG E WINDS...LOW RH

HIGH PRESSURE WILL STRENGTHEN E OF THE CASCADES AS UPPER TROUGH
DIVES SWD ACROSS THE ROCKIES. THIS WILL ENHANCE PRESSURE GRADIENTS
AND CAUSE VERY GUSTY WINDS FROM SWRN WA INTO WRN OREGON. SUSTAINED
NLY WINDS OF 15-30 MPH ARE EXPECTED. IT WILL ALSO BE DRIER THAN ON
SATURDAY...WITH MIN RH INTO THE TEENS. THE COMBINATION OF STRONG
WINDS AND VERY LOW RH WILL CREATE DANGEROUS FIRE CONDITIONS WHICH
WILL PERSIST INTO THE NIGHT IN THE HIGHER TERRAIN AND IN DOWNSLOPE
   AREAS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - NWRN CO...EXTREME NERN UT...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SCATTERED DRY THUNDERSTORMS...GUSTY AND SHIFTING
   WINDS AND LOW RH

STRONG LIFT ASSOCIATED WITH AN UPPER TROUGH WILL OVERSPREAD NERN UT
INTO NWRN CO LATE ON SUNDAY ALONG WITH A SURFACE COLD FRONT. THE
LIFT/COOLING ALOFT SHOULD RESULT IN SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS. GIVEN A
VERY DRY AIR MASS IN PLACE...MOST STORMS SHOULD BE DRY. VERY GUSTY
WINDS WILL ALSO ACCOMPANY ANY STORMS...ESPECIALLY IF THEY CAN
ORGANIZE INTO A LINE ALONG THE FRONT. WLY WINDS OF 15-20 MPH WITH
HIGHER GUSTS WILL ABRUPTLY SHIFT TO A NLY DIRECTION WITH FRONTAL
   PASSAGE.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - MUCH OF CNTRL UT...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: DRY COLD FRONT WITH SHIFTING AND GUSTY WINDS AND
   LOW RH

A COLD FRONT WILL SURGE RAPIDLY SEWD ACROSS UT SUNDAY AFTERNOON WITH
WINDS SHIFTING FROM A SLY DIRECTION TO NWLY AT 15-20 MPH WITH LOCAL
GUSTS OVER 30 MPH. THE RAPID WIND SHIFT ALONG WITH MIN RH NEAR 15
PERCENT WILL CREATE DANGEROUS FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS.

   ...ERN OREGON...ID...
IT WILL BE VERY DRY BUT ALSO RELATIVELY COOL IN A POST FRONTAL
REGIME. NWLY WINDS OF 15-20 MPH APPEAR LIKELY WITH RH NEAR 15
PERCENT. THIS MAY RESULT IN FAVORABLE BURNING CONDITIONS...BUT
RELATIVELY COOL TEMPERATURES SHOULD MITIGATE FIRE THREAT SEVERITY.
