...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR INTERIOR SOUTHERN
   CALIFORNIA/WESTERN UTAH/EASTERN NEVADA/EXTREME NORTHWEST ARIZONA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
NO APPRECIABLE CHANGES TO THE OVERALL WEATHER PATTERN ARE EXPECTED
FOR SATURDAY. THE UPPER LOW SITUATED ACROSS THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST
WILL REMAIN IN PLACE THROUGH THE PERIOD. SOUTHWEST LOW- AND
MID-LEVEL FLOW ALONG THE BASE OF THIS SYSTEM WILL REMAIN MODERATE TO
STRONG ACROSS THE GREAT BASIN. TO THE EAST...A LARGE HIGH PRESSURE
WILL BUILD SOUTHWARD ACROSS THE EASTERN AND CENTRAL PORTIONS OF THE
   COUNTRY...MAINTAINING A COOL AIR MASS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - INTERIOR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA/WESTERN
   UTAH/EASTERN NEVADA/EXTREME NORTHWEST ARIZONA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: GUSTY WINDS...WARM TEMPERATURES AND LOW
   AFTERNOON RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES

SATELLITE-DERIVED PRECIPITABLE WATER LOOPS HAVE BEEN SHOWING A PLUME
OF HALF-INCH TO AROUND ONE INCH VALUES SURGING NORTHWARD ACROSS THE
DESERT SOUTHWEST. THIS MOISTURE WILL WORK NORTHWARD INTO PARTS OF
SOUTHERN AND EASTERN UTAH LATER SATURDAY AFTERNOON. BUT...JUST TO
THE WEST...A MODEST SOUTHWEST FLOW ALOFT AND DRIER AIR WILL EXIST.
STRONG HEATING/WELL-MIXED BOUNDARY LAYER WILL PROMOTE GUSTY WINDS
FROM INTERIOR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA NORTHEASTWARD INTO SOUTHERN AND
EASTERN NEVADA...WESTERN UTAH AND EXTREME NORTHWEST ARIZONA. WIND
SPEEDS ON THE LARGE SCALE WILL REACH WELL INTO THE 15-25 MPH RANGE
WITH GUSTS AROUND 40 MPH. COUPLED WITH THE MODEST WIND
SPEEDS...MINIMUM RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES WILL REACH IN THE 10-20
   PERCENT RANGE.

   A FEW ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS...PRIMARILY HIGH-BASED AND DRY...WILL
LIKELY DEVELOP ALONG THE EASTERN PARTS OF THE CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER
AREA...NAMELY FROM NORTHWEST ARIZONA INTO CENTRAL UTAH.
HERE...RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES WILL BE MORE MARGINAL AND WILL
LIKELY DELINEATE EASTERN EXTENT OF THE CRITICAL CONDITIONS.

   ...NORTHERN CALIFORNIA AND SOUTHWEST OREGON...
ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS...PRIMARILY DRY...WILL LIKELY DEVELOP ACROSS
THE AREA SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING. THIS REGION WILL REMAIN
ALONG THE SOUTHERN PERIPHERY OF A MODEST MID-LEVEL MOISTURE PLUME
AND BENEATH A COLD CORE ALOFT ASSOCIATED WITH THE UPPER LOW. A FEW
NEW FIRE STARTS WILL REMAIN POSSIBLE DUE TO LIGHTNING.

   ...SOUTHERN WYOMING...
MODERATELY STRONG WESTERLY WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP IN WAKE OF
A DISTURBANCE MOVING EASTWARD INTO THE CENTRAL PLAINS SATURDAY
AFTERNOON. CRITICAL CONDITIONS ARE NOT CURRENTLY EXPECTED...BUT
WARM AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES AND SUSTAINED WESTERLY WINDS OF 15-20
   MPH WILL BE LIKELY.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0240 AM CDT SAT SEP 15 2007

   VALID 161200Z - 171200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
THE UPPER FLOW REGIME WILL UNDERGO SLIGHT AMPLIFICATION ON SUNDAY.
THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST UPPER LOW WILL BEGIN TO WEAKEN...OPEN INTO A
WAVE...THEN DIG SOUTHWARD INTO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BY SUNDAY NIGHT.
MEANWHILE...TO THE EAST...A LARGE AREA OF SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE IS
EXPECTED TO COVER THE EASTERN HALF OF THE COUNTRY WITH COOL
   CONDITIONS.

...NORTHWEST ARIZONA/EASTERN NEVADA AND WESTERN UTAH...
FIRE WEATHER CONCERNS WILL LIKELY BE COMPARATIVELY LESS ON
SUNDAY...MAINLY OWING TO AN INCREASE IN AFTERNOON RELATIVE
HUMIDITY...COOLER TEMPERATURES AND LESS SURFACE WINDS. AS THE
TROUGH BEGINS TO SWING SOUTHEASTWARD...A SURFACE WIND SHIFT FROM
SOUTHWEST TO WEST-NORTHWEST WILL OCCUR SUNDAY EVENING OR EARLY
MONDAY MORNING ACROSS THE REGION. AHEAD OF THIS FRONT...INCREASING
LOW- AND MID-LEVEL MOISTURE AND APPROACH OF LARGE SCALE ASCENT
ASSOCIATED WITH THE UPPER IMPULSE WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE THREAT FOR
THUNDERSTORMS. THE POSSIBILITY FOR ISOLATED SEVERE WIND GUSTS MAY
ACCOMPANY THE STRONGEST STORMS...PRIMARILY FROM ARIZONA NORTHWARD
   INTO UTAH.
