TROUGH...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP
OVER THE SERN GREAT BASIN AND ALSO IN A PORTION OF THE NRN HIGH
PLAINS TO THE WEST OF A STRENGTHENING SFC LEE TROUGH. ELSEWHERE...A
LARGE AREA OF SFC HIGH PRESSURE WILL EXIST EAST OF THE MS

DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK RESENT 1
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0421 AM CDT SUN SEP 16 2007

   VALID 171200Z - 181200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR THE SERN GREAT BASIN...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AHEAD OF A SECONDARY UPPER LEVEL SYSTEM...ANOTHER DAY OF CRITICAL
FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS CAN BE EXPECTED ACROSS THE SERN GREAT BASIN.
DUE TO THE CONTINUED PRESENCE OF A BELT OF SWLY MID LEVEL WINDS
ACROSS THE CENTRAL ROCKIES...A SFC LEE TROUGH WILL REMAIN OVER THE
HIGH PLAINS. THE PRESSURE GRADIENT BETWEEN THIS LEE TROUGH AND A
BROAD AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE LOCATED OVER THE ERN STATES WILL PRODUCE
MODERATE SLY WINDS OVER MUCH OF THE PLAINS STATES. HOWEVER...LOW
LEVEL MOISTURE RETURN WILL PRECLUDE ANY CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER
CONDITIONS FROM DEVELOPING IN THIS REGION.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - FAR SERN CA...NWRN/NCENTRAL AZ...FAR
   SRN NV AND SRN UT...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SUSTAINED SWLY WINDS FROM 20-25 MPH WITH HIGHER
GUSTS...MIN RH READINGS FROM 10-15 PERCENT

A SHORTWAVE TROUGH WILL MOVE THROUGH THE BASE OF A BROADER UPPER
TROUGH OVER THE WEST TOMORROW. WHERE THE STRONGEST WIND FIELDS
ASSOCIATED WITH THIS TROUGH ENCOUNTER A DRY/WARM AND A DEEPLY MIXED
AIRMASS AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT...SUSTAINED SWLY WINDS WILL INCREASE
TO BETWEEN 20-25 MPH BY THE AFTERNOON. DRY LOW LEVELS COMBINED WITH
THESE WINDS WILL SUPPORT A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT.
