   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0312 AM CDT SUN SEP 23 2007

   VALID 231200Z - 241200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A LARGE MID/UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH ACROSS THE WRN CONUS WILL GRADUALLY
MOVE EWD...REACHING THE ROCKIES BY EARLY MON. DOWNSTREAM OF THE
TROUGH AXIS...A SWATH OF INTENSE S/SWLY FLOW WILL BECOME CENTERED
FROM THE FOUR CORNERS TO THE NRN HIGH PLAINS THIS AFTERNOON. A LEAD
IMPULSE WILL EJECT NEWD FROM THE SRN GREAT BASIN TOWARDS THE NRN
HIGH PLAINS. THIS FEATURE WILL INDUCE MODEST DEEPENING OF A SURFACE
CYCLONE OVER ERN MT THROUGH THIS EVENING.

   ...CNTRL WY...
INITIALLY MOIST CONDITIONS AND SCATTERED LIGHT RAINFALL...ALONG WITH
EXPECTED LIMITED INSOLATION INTO EARLY AFTERNOON SHOULD SUBDUE THE
FIRE WEATHER THREAT TODAY...DESPITE SUSTAINED SURFACE WINDS AROUND
25 TO 30 MPH. THE STRENGTH OF LOW/MID-LEVEL SWLY FLOW IN COMBINATION
WITH THE APPROACH OF A MID/UPPER-LEVEL DRY SLOT WILL ENHANCE
DOWNSLOPE DRYING OFF THE WIND RIVER RANGE TOWARDS THE BIG HORN BASIN
IN MID/LATE-AFTERNOON. THIS MAY RESULT IN POCKETS OF RH APPROACHING
20 PERCENT FOR A BRIEF DURATION.
