...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR THE LOWER CO RIVER VALLEY...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A STRONG UPPER TROUGH OVER CA WILL MOVE SEWD INTO THE GREAT BASIN
THROUGH TODAY. ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SYSTEM...A STRONG COLD FRONT
WILL PUSH INTO THE LOWER CO RIVER VALLEY BY TONIGHT. AHEAD OF THE
FRONT...STRONG SWLY WINDS AND LOW RH READINGS WILL SUPPORT A
CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT. MODERATE SWLY WINDS WILL DEVELOP OVER
MUCH OF THE REMAINDER OF THE SOUTHWEST...BUT RH READINGS WILL REMAIN
HIGH ENOUGH TO PRECLUDE ANY ADDITIONAL CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT
AREAS IN THIS REGION. FURTHER EAST...SLY WINDS WILL INCREASE OVER
THE PLAINS ASSOCIATED WITH A STRENGTHENING LOW LEVEL JET AND SFC
PRESSURE GRADIENT. RH READINGS WILL BE LOWEST OVER THE HIGH
PLAINS...BUT SHOULD REMAIN ABOVE CRITICAL LEVELS. WELL ABOVE NORMAL
TEMPERATURES AND MODERATE RH READINGS WILL CONTINUE OVER THE ERN 1/2
OF THE NATION UNDER THE PRESENCE OF A STRONG UPPER RIDGE.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - LOWER CO RIVER VALLEY...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SUSTAINED SWLY WINDS FROM 20-25 MPH...WITH GUSTS
   OVER 30 MPH...LOW RH READINGS

AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT MOVING SWD THROUGH CENTRAL/SRN CA AND THE SRN
GREAT BASIN...SWLY WINDS WILL INCREASE TODAY TO BETWEEN 20-30 MPH AS
STRONG MID-LEVEL WIND MAX OVERSPREADS THE REGION AND MID LEVEL COLD
ADVECTION SUPPORTS STEEPENING LAPSE RATES. LOWER LEVEL MOISTURE WILL
BE SHUNTED OFF TO THE EAST WITH MIN RH READINGS LESS THAN 15 PERCENT
   OVER THE AREA.

   ...CENTRAL/SRN HIGH PLAINS...
MODERATE SLY WINDS FROM 20-30 MPH WILL DEVELOP OVER THE REGION BY
LATE MORNING AS THE LEE TROUGH INTENSIFIES AND LOW LEVEL JET WINDS
MIX DOWN TO THE SFC. DEEPER MOISTURE WILL REMAIN EAST OF THE
AREA...BUT LOW DEWPTS IN THE 30S/40S COMBINED WITH WELL ABOVE NORMAL
HIGHS IN THE 80S/LOWER 90S WILL SUPPORT MIN RH READINGS AROUND 20
PERCENT...JUST SLIGHTLY ABOVE CRITICAL FIRE THREAT LEVELS.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK

   0421 AM CDT FRI OCT 05 2007

   VALID 061200Z - 071200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR THE INTERIOR VALLEYS/MTNS OF SRN
   CA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A STRONG UPPER TROUGH WILL MOVE EWD FROM THE GREAT BASIN INTO THE
ROCKIES TOMORROW. IN THE WAKE OF THE UPPER TROUGH...SFC HIGH
PRESSURE WILL BUILD INTO THE GREAT BASIN...RESULTING IN AN OFFSHORE
FLOW PATTERN AND CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS DEVELOPING OVER
SRN CA OVERNIGHT. FURTHER EAST...AHEAD OF THE UPPER TROUGH SWLY
WINDS WILL INCREASE OVER THE SRN/CENTRAL ROCKIES AND HIGH PLAINS.
ALTHOUGH MOST AREAS WILL SEE RH READINGS ABOVE CRITICAL
LEVELS...CONDITIONS MAY APPROACH CRITICAL IN THE FRONT RANGE OF
CO/ERN NM. ELSEWHERE...A BROAD UPPER RIDGE WILL REMAIN OVER THE ERN
CONUS AIDING IN WELL ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND MODERATE RH
   VALUES.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - THE INTERIOR VALLEYS/MTNS OF SRN
   CA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SUSTAINED NELY WINDS FROM 20-30 MPH WITH GUSTS
OVER 45 MPH...MIN RH READINGS AROUND 15 PERCENT...LONG TERM DROUGHT

ALTHOUGH ISOLATED LIGHT RAIN SHOWERS WILL BE POSSIBLE OVER THE AREA
TODAY ASSOCIATED WITH THE MAIN UPPER TROUGH PASSAGE...A STRONG
OFFSHORE PATTERN WILL DEVELOP BY TOMORROW IN THE WAKE OF THE SYSTEM.
THIS WILL SUPPORT VERY DRY AIR ADVECTION INTO THE AREA BEGINNING
LATE SAT...LASTING INTO DAY 3. THE STRONGEST OFFSHORE WINDS ARE
EXPECTED TO DEVELOP AFTER 06Z WHEN THE PRESSURE/THERMAL GRADIENTS
WILL BE GREATEST. THE COMBINATION OF LONG TERM DROUGHT...LOW RH
READINGS/POOR RH RECOVERY AND STRONG WINDS WILL SUPPORT A CRITICAL
   FIRE WEATHER THREAT.

...LOWER CO RIVER VALLEY/SWRN DESERTS OF AZ...
IN THE WAKE OF A COLD FRONT...NNWLY WINDS FROM 15-20 MPH WILL
DEVELOP DURING THE AFTERNOON. MILD TEMPERATURES IN THE 80S AND
DEWPTS IN THE 10-20 F RANGE WILL PRODUCE MIN RH READINGS LESS THAN
10 PERCENT. AREA WILL BE MONITORED FOR POSSIBLE STRONGER WINDS AND
   CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER POTENTIAL.

   ...CENTRL/SRN HIGH PLAINS...
SWLY WINDS FROM 20-30 MPH WILL BE COMMONPLACE TOMORROW OWING TO A
COMBINATION OF STRENGTHENING MID LEVEL WINDS AND A DEEPENING LOW
PRESSURE OVER NRN CO. HOWEVER...RH READINGS ARE EXPECTED TO BE
AROUND 25 PERCENT...HIGH ENOUGH TO PRECLUDE A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER
   THREAT.
