   THE UPPER TROUGH OVER THE INTERMOUNTAIN WEST WILL LIFT NEWD INTO THE
   PLAINS TODAY. IN THE WAKE OF THIS SYSTEM...MODERATELY STRONG SURFACE
   HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD INTO THE GREAT BASIN...RESULTING IN
   OFFSHORE FLOW/SANTA ANA WINDS AND CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS ACROSS
   SRN CA. A LITTLE FARTHER EAST...DRY NORTHERLY WINDS WILL BRING NEAR
   CRITICAL CONDITIONS TO THE COLORADO RIVER VALLEY. OTHERWISE...THE
   WRN U.S. IS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF HIGH PRESSURE AND A SEASONABLY
   COOL AIRMASS. AS THE UPPER TROUGH MOVES EWD...A SURFACE COLD FRONT
   WILL EXTEND FROM THE UPPER MIDWEST TO THE SOUTHWEST THIS AFTERNOON.
   SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL COVER A BROAD AREA ALONG/AHEAD OF THE
   UPPER TROUGH AND SURFACE FRONT. IN THE EAST...HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE
   OHIO RIVER VALLEY WILL MAINTAIN THE TRANQUIL FIRE WEATHER PATTERN
   THROUGHOUT THE MID ATLANTIC REGION...WITH SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
   EXPECTED ALONG THE GULF COAST AND TX.

   PRIMARY CONDITIONS: MODERATE SANTA ANA WIND EVENT WITH VERY LOW RH
   
   SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE CENTERED OVER THE GREAT BASIN WILL MAINTAIN A
   MODERATELY STRONG SANTA ANA WIND EVENT THROUGH THE PERIOD. RH WILL
   FALL TO 5 TO 10 PERCENT THIS AFTERNOON AS THE DOWNSLOPE FLOW
   CONTRIBUTES TO WARM TEMPERATURES /MIDDLE 80S OVER INLAND VALLEYS/
   AND NELY WINDS OF 15 TO 30 MPH /GUSTING TO 50 MPH IN TERRAIN
   FAVORABLE LOCATIONS/. THE FLOW WILL REMAIN OFFSHORE TONIGHT WITH
   POOR RH RECOVERY EXPECTED IN THE INLAND MOUNTAINS AND PASSES
   /MAXIMUM RH 15 TO 20 PERCENT/...ALTHOUGH WINDS WILL BE DIMINISHING
   AS THE OFFSHORE PRESSURE GRADIENT WEAKENS.

   HIGH PRESSURE/COOL AIR OVER THE GREAT BASIN WILL PRODUCE MODERATELY
   STRONG NLY WINDS OF 15 TO 30 MPH THROUGH THE COLORADO RIVER VALLEY
   LATER TODAY. TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER 80S AND MINIMUM RH BETWEEN 10
   TO 15 PERCENT CREATE A PERIOD OF NEAR CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER
   CONDITIONS THIS AFTERNOON.

   SHORTWAVE WILL APPROACH THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST COAST. AT THE
   SURFACE...HIGH PRESSURE WILL MOVE FROM THE CNTRL ROCKIES INTO THE
   WRN PLAINS MONDAY...BRINGING AN END TO THE SANTA ANA WINDS OVER SRN
   CA. FARTHER EAST...SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL ACCOMPANY A COLD
   FRONT THROUGH THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER VALLEY AND GREAT LAKES
   REGION...WHILE SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE...LIGHT WINDS...AND MODERATE RH
   PERSIST FROM THE APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINS TO THE MID ATLANTIC COASTAL
   PLAIN.

   OFFSHORE WINDS /GENERALLY BELOW 15 MPH/ AND POOR RH RECOVERY WILL
   CONTINUE THROUGH MONDAY MORNING AS THE ONGOING SANTA ANA WIND EVENT
   GRADUALLY WANES. BY MONDAY EVENING...ONSHORE FLOW SHOULD OVERSPREAD
   THE AREA. PRIOR TO THAT...CONDITIONS WILL REMAIN EXTREMELY DRY WITH
   MAXIMUM RH ONLY AROUND 15 TO 20 PERCENT SUNDAY NIGHT/MONDAY
   MORNING...AND MINIMUM RH FALLING TO 5 TO 10 PERCENT ACROSS INLAND
