   NORTHEASTWARD OVER THE UPPER MIDWEST. IN THE WAKE OF THIS UPPER
   TROUGH...SHORTWAVE RIDGING WILL DEVELOP ACROSS THE WESTERN
   STATES...WITH HIGH PRESSURE BUILDING EASTWARD ACROSS THE GREAT
   BASIN.
   
   ...EASTERN CO/SOUTHWEST NEB/WESTERN KS/EASTERN NM/NORTHWEST TX AND
   TX/OK PANHANDLES...
   STRONG/GUSTY WEST-NORTHWEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED ACROSS THE
   CENTRAL/SOUTHERN HIGH PLAINS TODAY IN THE WAKE OF A COLD FRONT AND
   THE CENTRAL STATES UPPER TROUGH. ALTHOUGH SUBDUED ACROSS THE
   SOUTHERN HIGH PLAINS AS COMPARED TO YESTERDAY...SUSTAINED WIND
   SPEEDS WILL GENERALLY BE IN THE 20-35 MPH RANGE IN MOST LOCALES THIS
   AFTERNOON...WITH POTENTIAL FOR GUSTS TO 40-50 MPH...ESPECIALLY
   ACROSS EASTERN CO/WESTERN KS AND EAST CENTRAL NM. WHILE
   NEAR-CRITICAL CONDITIONS AND WIND DRIVEN FIRES ARE POSSIBLE THIS
   AFTERNOON...COOLER TEMPERATURES/MORE MARGINAL RH VALUES...ALONG WITH
   MARGINAL FUELS...WILL TEND TO LIMIT THE OVERALL THREAT.
