   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0301 AM CST TUE NOV 06 2007

   VALID 061200Z - 071200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR MUCH OF AL/GA/SC INTO NC...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A PRONOUNCED UPPER TROUGH WILL CONTINUE TO EVOLVE OVER THE EASTERN
STATES TODAY. IN THE WAKE OF THIS FEATURE...NORTHWEST MID/UPPER
LEVEL FLOW WILL BE DOMINANT ACROSS THE MAJORITY OF THE
COUNTRY...WHILE AN UPPER LOW REMAINS QUASI-STATIONARY OFF THE CA
COAST. BEHIND A COLD FRONT CROSSING THE SOUTHEAST STATES/FL AND
SOUTH TX EARLY TODAY...EXPANSIVE SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE AND COOL
CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL ACROSS MUCH OF THE CENTRAL/EASTERN STATES.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - MUCH OF AL/GA/SC INTO NC...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: GUSTY WINDS/LOW RH AND LONG TERM DROUGHT

AFTER A STRING OF WARM DAYS WITH VERY LOW RH VALUES...A COLD FRONT
WILL QUICKLY SPREAD SOUTHEASTWARD ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST STATES THIS
MORNING. IN THE WAKE OF THE COLD FRONT...SUSTAINED NORTHWEST WINDS
WILL INCREASE TO AROUND 15 MPH BY LATE MORNING IN MOST
LOCALES...WITH SOME HIGHER GUSTS. GIVEN THE EXTREME-EXCEPTIONAL
DROUGHT THAT EXISTS...THESE RELATIVELY STRONG/GUSTY WINDS WILL
RESULT IN A CRITICAL FIRE DANGER FOR MUCH OF AL/GA/SC INTO NC. EVEN
WITH A COOLER AIRMASS FILTERING INTO THE REGION BEHIND THE
FRONT...DRY CONTINENTAL TRAJECTORIES WILL LIKELY RESULT IN CRITICAL
RH VALUES /25-35 PERCENT/ THROUGH THE AFTERNOON.

   ...CENTRAL/SOUTH TX...
AS A COLD FRONT SWEEPS SOUTHWARD TO THE NORTHERN GULF OF
MEXICO...NORTH-NORTHEAST WINDS WILL BE INCREASING EARLY THIS MORNING
ACROSS MUCH OF CENTRAL/SOUTH TX. SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS MAY REACH
15-20 MPH...WITH HIGHER GUSTS. WHILE THESE GUSTY WINDS MAY YIELD A
HEIGHTENED FIRE DANGER THROUGH THE AFTERNOON...SOME CLOUD COVER
AND/OR MARGINAL RH VALUES SHOULD TEND TO LIMIT THE OVERALL
   POTENTIAL.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0304 AM CST TUE NOV 06 2007

   VALID 071200Z - 081200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
LONGWAVE UPPER TROUGH WILL CONTINUE TO DOMINATE THE EASTERN HALF OF
THE COUNTRY...WITH AN EMBEDDED SHORTWAVE TROUGH LIFTING
NORTHEASTWARD ACROSS NEW ENGLAND...WHILE SEVERAL LOW AMPLITUDE
IMPULSES CROSS THE CENTRAL CANADIAN PROVINCES AND UPPER
MIDWEST/GREAT LAKES REGION. SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE AND COOL
CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE ACROSS MUCH OF THE CENTRAL/EASTERN STATES.
IN THE WEST...UPPER RIDGING WILL REMAIN PREVALENT...WHILE AN UPPER
LOW REMAINS QUASI-STATIONARY OFF THE CA COAST.

   ...SOUTHEAST STATES/FL...
AS COMPARED TO DAY 1/TUESDAY...WIND SPEEDS ARE EXPECTED TO BE
LIGHTER ACROSS MUCH OF THE SOUTHEAST STATES/FL AS HIGH PRESSURE
MOVES EAST TOWARD THE REGION. NEVERTHELESS...A DRY BUT COOL AIRMASS
WILL REMAIN IN PLACE INTO WEDNESDAY...AND AFTERNOON RH VALUES COULD
AGAIN APPROACH CRITICAL THRESHOLDS DURING THE AFTERNOON /25-35
PERCENT/. HOWEVER...THE LIGHTER WINDS AND RELATIVELY COOL
TEMPERATURES SUGGEST WIDESPREAD CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE
   UNLIKELY.

   ...NORTH CENTRAL HIGH PLAINS...
AIDED BY A MODERATELY STRONG WESTERLY COMPONENT ALOFT...TEMPERATURES
WILL WARM INTO THE 60S ACROSS MUCH OF EASTERN CO/EASTERN WY AND THE
WESTERN PORTIONS OF NEB AND SD WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. THESE MILD
TEMPERATURES...COUPLED WITH BREEZY CONDITIONS /15-25 MPH/ IN THE
AFTERNOON...MAY RESULT IN A SOMEWHAT ELEVATED FIRE DANGER ON
WEDNESDAY ACROSS THE NORTH CENTRAL HIGH PLAINS.
