   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0325 AM CST TUE NOV 13 2007

   VALID 131200Z - 141200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR NRN PLAINS...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR FAR SERN WY/FAR NERN CO/FAR SWRN
   NEB PANHANDLE...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A MID/UPPER-LEVEL SHORT WAVE TROUGH OVER MANITOBA WILL SHIFT EWD
ACROSS THE CANADIAN PRAIRIES...WHILE ALSO AMPLIFYING SWD ACROSS THE
NRN PLAINS/UPPER MIDWEST. POWERFUL WLY MID-LEVEL JET /H5 WINDS AOA
100 MPH/...WILL BECOME CENTERED ACROSS THE NRN PLAINS THIS
AFTERNOON. AT THE SURFACE...A COLD FRONT ACROSS THE NRN ROCKIES WILL
PUSH RAPIDLY SEWD STRETCHING FROM THE ERN GREAT LAKES TO THE SRN
   PLAINS BY TUE MORNING.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - NRN PLAINS...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: VERY STRONG WINDS / MODERATELY LOW RH / RECENT
   DRYNESS

ONGOING INTENSE DOWNSLOPE EVENT ALONG THE LEE OF THE NRN ROCKIES
/WITH SEVERAL HOURS OF WIND GUSTS AOA 50 MPH/ HAS MAINTAINED VERY
POOR RH RECOVERY PER RECENT MESONET OBSERVATIONS. THIS WILL
EFFECTIVELY SPREAD EWD ACROSS THE NRN PLAINS REGION LIKELY LEADING
TO A LONG DURATION OF AT LEAST NEAR-CRITICAL CONDITIONS TODAY.
WIDESPREAD CLOUD COVERAGE AND A COLD FRONT PASSAGE LATER THIS
MORNING WILL RESULT IN LITTLE/IF ANY ADDITIONAL WARMING...YIELDING
TEMPERATURES IN THE 50S WITH MODERATELY LOW RH OF 15 TO 20 PERCENT.
AS LOW-LEVEL LAPSE RATES STEEPEN AFTER FRONTAL PASSAGE...DOWNWARD
MOMENTUM TRANSPORT WILL BE OPTIMIZED WITH SUSTAINED W/NWLY SURFACE
WINDS OF 30 TO 40 MPH COMMON.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - FAR SERN WY/FAR NERN CO/FAR SWRN NEB
   PANHANDLE...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS / MARGINALLY LOW RH / RECENT
   DRYNESS

WIND GUSTS AOA 60 MPH HAVE BEEN ONGOING ALONG THE I-80 AND I-25
CORRIDORS IN SERN WY ALONG THE LEE OF THE LARAMIE AND MEDICINE BOW
MTNS. THESE INTENSE W/SWLY WINDS WILL CONTINUE INTO THE AFTERNOON
PRIOR TO A FRONTAL PASSAGE. ALTHOUGH THE LOWEST RH VALUES/WARMEST
TEMPERATURES SHOULD DEVELOP FARTHER E/SE ACROSS THE ADJACENT
PLAINS...A NARROW JUXTAPOSITION OF MARGINALLY LOW RH /FROM 15 TO 20
PERCENT/ WITH STRONG WINDS WILL LEAD TO A LOCALIZED CRITICAL THREAT.

   ...NRN HIGH PLAINS...
INTENSE DOWNSLOPE SWLYS WILL SHIFT TO THE W/NW LATER THIS MORNING AS
A COLD FRONT QUICKLY MOVES EWD. RH RECOVERY SHOULD TEMPORARILY
IMPROVE WITH MOISTENING INVOF THE FRONTAL BOUNDARY.
HOWEVER...DOWNSLOPE DRYING WILL RESUME DURING THE AFTERNOON WITH
MARGINALLY LOW RH AROUND 20 PERCENT. SUSTAINED SURFACE WINDS SHOULD
BE NEARLY AS STRONG AS IN THE CRITICAL AREA. THE PRIMARY MITIGATING
FACTOR TO A CRITICAL THREAT WILL BE COOLER TEMPERATURES /MAINLY IN
   THE 40S/.

   ...NERN NM/WRN TX PANHANDLE...
SWLY WINDS WILL INCREASE THIS AFTERNOON...LIKELY PEAKING AROUND 20
MPH. AS TEMPERATURES WARM THROUGH THE 70S TO LOWER 80S...RH VALUES
SHOULD BECOME MARGINALLY LOW FROM 15 TO 20 PERCENT.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0351 AM CST TUE NOV 13 2007

   VALID 141200Z - 151200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR CNTRL PLAINS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A MID/UPPER-LEVEL SHORT WAVE TROUGH WILL CONTINUE TO AMPLIFY FROM
THE UPPER MIDWEST/GREAT LAKES TOWARDS THE MID-MS AND OH RIVER
VALLEYS BY EARLY THU. A COLD FRONT EXTENDING FROM THE GREAT LAKES
THROUGH THE SRN PLAINS WILL PUSH E/SEWD TOWARDS THE ERN
SEABOARD/CNTRL GULF COAST. EXPANSIVE SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE WILL
BUILD IN ITS WAKE FROM THE NRN ROCKIES TO THE CNTRL HIGH PLAINS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - CNTRL PLAINS...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS / LOW RH / RECENT DRYNESS

STRONG NLY WINDS WILL EXPAND SWD AFTER A COLD FRONT PASSAGE EARLY
WED WITH A TIGHT SURFACE PRESSURE GRADIENT THROUGH LATE AFTERNOON.
AS LOW-LEVEL LAPSE RATES STEEPEN...SUSTAINED SURFACE WINDS OF 25 TO
30 MPH ARE LIKELY. THE LOWEST MEAN MIXING RATIOS SHOULD REMAIN WELL
REMOVED TO THE N OF THE FRONTAL BOUNDARY...WHERE MUCH COOLER
TEMPERATURES WILL RESIDE. IN-BETWEEN...A ZONE OF MILD TEMPERATURES
   /IN THE 50S/ AND MODERATELY LOW RH /FROM 15 TO 20 PERCENT/ SHOULD
DEVELOP MAINLY ACROSS WRN AND CNTRL KS.
