...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SOUTHEAST NM/SOUTHWEST TX...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
PRIMARY FEATURE OF NOTE ON THURSDAY WILL BE THE AMPLIFYING UPPER
TROUGH/PRONOUNCED JET STREAK SPREADING EASTWARD OVER THE SOUTHERN
   ROCKIES/SOUTHERN PLAINS. ACCORDINGLY...VERY STRONG/GUSTY WINDS AND A
CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER RISK ARE ANTICIPATED ACROSS SOUTHEAST NM INTO
SOUTHWEST TX AND PERHAPS THE TX SOUTH PLAINS IN THE WAKE OF A
DEEPENING SURFACE LOW AND ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT. IN THE WEST...HIGH
PRESSURE IS FORECAST TO GRADUALLY WEAKEN ACROSS THE GREAT BASIN.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SOUTHEAST NM/SOUTHWEST TX...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: VERY STRONG/GUSTY WINDS AND LOW RH

ASSOCIATED WITH THE POTENT UPPER TROUGH/PRONOUNCED JET STREAK
CROSSING THE SOUTHERN PLAINS...VERY STRONG WINDS ARE EXPECTED ACROSS
A LARGE PART OF SOUTHEAST NM AND SOUTHWEST TX/TX SOUTH PLAINS ON
THURSDAY. STRONG DEEP LAYER WIND FIELDS AND AMPLE MIXING SUGGEST
SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS OF 25-35 MPH ARE LIKELY...WITH THE POSSIBILITY
OF GUSTS TO 40-60 MPH...ESPECIALLY ACROSS SOUTHEAST NM/FAR WEST TX.
WHILE TEMPERATURES WILL BE COOL /MAINLY IN THE 50S/...A VERY DRY
POST-FRONTAL AIRMASS WITH SINGLE DIGIT DEWPOINTS WILL FAVOR
AFTERNOON MINIMUM RH VALUES OF 15-25 PERCENT.

   ...SOUTHERN CA...
WHILE LOCALLY GUSTY WINDS MAY BE ONGOING ACROSS THE COASTAL AREAS OF
SOUTHERN CA THURSDAY MORNING...THE MODEST OFFSHORE GRADIENT IS
FORECAST TO WEAKEN THROUGH THE DAY. A LIMITED DURATION AND MARGINAL
NATURE OF EXPECTED WINDS/RH VALUES SUGGEST CRITICAL CONDITIONS ARE
   UNLIKELY.
