...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR THE LOWER CO RIVER VALLEY...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
ON THE WRN SIDE OF A DEEPENING UPPER TROUGH OVER THE WRN CONUS...SFC
HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD OVER THE GREAT BASIN. OFFSHORE WINDS WILL
INCREASE OVER SRN CA AND OVER THE LOWER CO RIVER VALLEY AS A RESULT.
AHEAD OF THIS UPPER TROUGH...A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE SWD THROUGH
PLAINS STATES. IN THE WAKE OF THE COLD FRONT...STRONG NWLY WINDS
WILL OCCUR. HOWEVER...MUCH COOLER THAN NORMAL TEMPERATURES WILL
   PRECLUDE ANY FIRE WEATHER CONCERNS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - THE LOWER CO RIVER VALLEY...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SUSTAINED NLY WINDS FROM 20-30 MPH...MIN RH
   READINGS FROM 10-15 PERCENT

IN THE WAKE OF A STRONG UPPER TROUGH...SFC HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD
SWD THROUGH THE GREAT BASIN. AN INCREASING N-S PRESSURE GRADIENT
WILL SUPPORT MODERATE NLY WINDS /20-30 MPH/ OVER THE LOWER CO RIVER
VALLEY. ALTHOUGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE BELOW NORMAL /LOW-MID 60S/ LOW
DEWPTS IN THE SINGLE DIGITS/TEENS WILL SUPPORT MIN RH READINGS FROM
   10-15 PERCENT.

   ...SRN CA VALLEYS/MTNS...
OFFSHORE WINDS WILL INCREASE OVER SRN CA THROUGH THE PERIOD AS HIGH
PRESSURE BUILDS INTO THE GREAT BASIN. ALTHOUGH SUSTAINED NELY WINDS

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0342 AM CST WED JAN 16 2008

   VALID 171200Z - 181200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A BROAD UPPER TROUGH WILL MOVE SLOWLY EWD ACROSS THE CONUS THROUGH
THE PERIOD SUPPORTED BY THE PROGRESSION OF SEVERAL EMBEDDED WEAKER
UPPER SYSTEMS. IN THE WAKE OF THE BROAD TROUGH...SFC HIGH PRESSURE
WILL REMAIN CENTERED OVER THE GREAT BASIN. THIS WILL SUPPORT A
CONTINUATION OF OFFSHORE WINDS ACROSS SRN CA. RECENT RAINS SHOULD
PRECLUDE CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS DESPITE LOW RH READINGS
COMBINED WITH MODERATE WINDS. MODERATE NLY WINDS WILL ALSO CONTINUE
OVER THE LOWER CO RIVER VALLEY. MEANWHILE...A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE
EWD ACROSS THE ERN CONUS...EXTENDING FROM THE MID-ATLANTIC INTO NRN
FL BY THE END OF THE PERIOD.

   ...SRN CA VALLEYS/MTNS...
OFFSHORE WINDS WILL REMAIN STRONG THROUGH AT LEAST THE FIRST HALF OF
THE PERIOD...AS A BROAD AREA OF SFC HIGH PRESSURE REMAINS OVER THE
GREAT BASIN. SUSTAINED NELY WINDS FROM 25-35 MPH WITH GUSTS OVER 50
MPH ARE EXPECTED. SUBSIDENCE COMBINED WITH ADVECTION OF DRY DESERT
AIR WILL SUPPORT MIN RH READINGS FROM 8-12 PERCENT. DESPITE THE
COMBINATION OF WINDS/LOW RH READINGS...RECENT RAINFALL SHOULD KEEP
CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS AT BAY.

   ...LOWER CO RIVER VALLEY...
NLY WINDS FROM 15-25 MPH ARE EXPECTED TOMORROW AS A MODERATE N-S
PRESSURE GRADIENT REMAINS. COOLER TEMPERATURES THAN TODAY /50S/ MAY
KEEP MIN RH READINGS ABOVE CRITICAL LEVELS. AREA WILL BE MONITORED
FOR INCLUSION IN A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA IN A LATER OUTLOOK.
