   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0138 AM CST SUN MAR 02 2008

   VALID 021200Z - 031200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR MUCH OF WRN AND SW TX...SRN NM...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR CO RIVER VALLEY FROM SRN NV INTO
   SERN CA AND SWRN AZ...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A STRONG UPPER TROUGH WILL DROP SWD OUT OF THE ROCKIES INTO THE SRN
PLAINS STATES. VERY STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY WILL RESULT IN
CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS OVER WRN TX AND SRN NM. TO THE W...HIGH
PRESSURE WILL SURGE SWD ACROSS THE GREAT BASIN...PRODUCING DRY NLY
FLOW OVER SWRN AZ INTO SRN CA...WITH CRITICAL CONDITIONS OVER THE CO
RIVER VALLEY. ELSEWHERE...DRY CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL OVER THE MID
ATLANTIC AND SERN STATES UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF HIGH PRESSURE...BUT
   WINDS WILL BE LIGHT.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - MUCH OF WRN AND SW TX...SRN NM...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS AND LOW RH...WIND SHIFT WITH COLD
   FRONT

A STRENGTHENING UPPER TROUGH WILL DIVE SEWD ACROSS THE ROCKIES INTO
THE SRN HIGH PLAINS TODAY WITH LOW PRESSURE DEEPENING OVER NWRN TX.
THIS WILL RESULT IN WARM DRY AND WINDY WEATHER. SUSTAINED SWLY WINDS
NEAR 30 MPH ARE LIKELY...WITH GUSTS OF 30-40 MPH. STRONG MIXING AND
HEATING WILL RESULT IN MIN RH LEVELS FROM THE TEENS OVER SRN NM AND
FAR WRN TX TO THE 20S OVER NWRN TX. THE DEEP MIXING LAYERS WILL
   FURTHER ENHANCE FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL.

BETWEEN 00Z AND 03Z...A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL SURGE SWD WITH WINDS
SHIFTING ABRUPTLY TO THE N AT 20-30 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS. THIS WIND
SHIFT COULD RESULT IN RAPIDLY SHIFTING WILDFIRES...SHOULD ANY BE
   ONGOING AT THAT TIME.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - CO RIVER VALLEY FROM SRN NV INTO
   SERN CA AND SWRN AZ...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: VERY STRONG WINDS AND LOW RH

HIGH PRESSURE WILL SURGE SWD PRODUCING VERY STRONG NLY WINDS OF
20-30 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS OF 30-40 MPH. STRONG HEATING AND MIXING
WILL ALSO RESULT IN MIN RH VALUES INTO THE TEENS...WITH SOME SINGLE
DIGIT RH POSSIBLE. LOCALLY GUSTY WINDS WILL PERSIST OVERNIGHT WITH
   POOR RH RECOVERY.

   ...SRN CA COASTAL RANGE VICINITY...
HIGH PRESSURE WILL SURGE SWD ACROSS THE GREAT BASIN AND ACROSS SRN
CA AND AZ...PRODUCING STRONG OFFSHORE WINDS. GUSTS OF 30-50 MPH WILL
BE COMMON THROUGH PASSES AND CANYONS. RH LEVELS WILL DROP THROUGH
THE DAY WITH VALUES INTO THE 20 PERCENT RANGE AND LOCALLY TEENS.
DESPITE THE DRY WINDS...THE FIRE THREAT SHOULD REMAIN SUB-CRITICAL
   DUE TO MOISTENED FUEL CONDITIONS.

   ...SERN U.S...
A STRONG AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL EXTEND SWD ALONG THE ATLANTIC
COAST PROVIDING MILD AND DRY CONDITIONS. MIN RH VALUES BY AFTERNOON
WILL LARGELY RANGE FROM 25-35 PERCENT FROM THE VA AND THE CAROLINAS
INTO NRN FL. WINDS WILL BE LIGHT WHICH WILL MITIGATE SIGNIFICANT
FIRE POTENTIAL...ALTHOUGH SEVERAL HOURS OF LOW HUMIDITY MAY RESULT
   IN NEW STARTS.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0139 AM CST SUN MAR 02 2008

   VALID 031200Z - 041200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR DEEP S TX...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER LOW/TROUGH WILL MOVE ACROSS THE SRN PLAINS INTO THE LOWER MS
VALLEY. SURFACE LOW WILL BE OVER WRN AR AT 00Z...WITH COLD FRONT
EXTENDING SWWD INTO TX. STRONG NWLY WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY WILL
RESULT IN CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS OVER DEEP S TX.
ELSEWHERE...SURFACE HIGH WILL SHIFT EWD OFF THE ATLANTIC COAST WITH
INCREASING SLY WINDS. THIS WILL INCREASE MOISTURE BUT RELATIVELY LOW
RH MAY STILL BE FOUND OVER THE MID ATLANTIC REGION.

GUSTY OFFSHORE WINDS WILL BE ONGOING OVER SRN CA AND ACROSS THE CO
RIVER VALLEY DURING THE EARLY PART OF THE DAY BEFORE ABATING WITH
   WEAKENING PRESSURE GRADIENT.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - DEEP S TX...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: VERY STRONG N WINDS AND LOW RH

A COLD FRONT WILL SURGE SWD ACROSS SRN TX AROUND MIDDAY WITH A
STRONG WIND SHIFT TO NWLY. SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS NEAR 30 MPH ARE
LIKELY WITH HIGHER GUSTS OF 30-40 MPH. MIN RH WILL DECREASE BY
AFTERNOON INTO THE 20 PERCENT RANGE IN GENERAL. THE EXTREME WIND
SPEEDS MAY RESULT IN VERY FAST MOVING WILDFIRES.

   ...SRN CA...
OFFSHORE WINDS WILL BE ONGOING DURING THE MORNING WITH LOW RH AS
WELL. HOWEVER...THE PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL RELAX DURING THE DAY. MIN
RH IN THE TEENS WILL RESULT FROM THE DRY AIR MASS AND TEMPERATURES
IN THE 70S. FIRE THREAT WILL BE MITIGATED BY RECENT PRECIPITATION
   AND MOIST FUEL CONDITIONS.

   ...MID ATLANTIC...
A STRENGTHENING PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL RESULT IN INCREASED SLY WINDS
NEAR 15 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS FROM VA INTO THE CAROLINAS. MOISTURE
WILL BE INCREASING..HOWEVER...POCKETS OF LOWER RH IN THE 30 PERCENT
RANGE MAY OCCUR. RECENT DRYNESS ESPECIALLY OVER VA MAY RESULT IN A
LOW END FIRE THREAT DURING THE AFTERNOON.
