...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR DEEP SOUTH TX...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A POTENT UPPER TROUGH WILL SHIFT EWD ACROSS THE SRN PLAINS TODAY AND
INTO THE LOWER/MIDDLE MS VALLEY BY TUE MORNING. AT THE SURFACE...A
LOW AND TRAILING COLD FRONT WILL MOVE FROM ERN TX INTO THE TN
VALLEY. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL OCCUR ALONG AND AHEAD OF THIS LOW
AND FRONT...WHILE BEHIND...DRIER AND COOLER AIR WILL SPREAD SWD
ACROSS TX. VERY STRONG WINDS AND LOW RH WILL CREATE HAZARDOUS FIRE
WEATHER CONDITIONS FOR DEEP S TX TODAY.

ELSEWHERE...DRY OFFSHORE FLOW WILL BE ONGOING THIS MORNING OVER SRN
CA AND THE CO RIVER VALLEY...WHERE A VERY DRY AIR MASS RESIDES DUE
TO HIGH PRESSURE. THESE WINDS WILL WEAKEN THROUGH THE DAY AS THE
GRADIENT RELAXES. TO THE E...RESIDUAL EFFECTS OF HIGH PRESSURE AND
INCREASING SLY WINDS MAY YIELD A MARGINAL FIRE THREAT ACROSS VA.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - DEEP SOUTH TX...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: VERY STRONG WINDS AND LOW RH

A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL SURGE SWD FROM THE HILL COUNTRY THIS
MORNING...CLEARING ALL OF S TX BY LATE AFTERNOON. SUSTAINED WINDS
WILL INCREASE TO 25-35 MPH WITH GUSTS OF 40-50 MPH. DRIER AIR WITH
RH IN THE 20-30 PERCENT RANGE WILL COMBINE WITH DRY FUELS AND STRONG
WINDS TO CREATE HAZARDOUS FIRE CONDITIONS ALL DAY LONG. GUSTY WINDS
WILL PERSIST OVERNIGHT WITH GOOD RH RECOVERY.

...SRN CA AND THE LOWER CO RIVER VALLEY...
THE PRESENCE OF HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE GREAT BASIN WILL KEEP GUSTY
WINDS AROUND ESPECIALLY EARLY THIS MORNING ACROSS SRN CA THROUGH
PASSES AND CANYONS BEFORE THE GRADIENT RELAXES. RH WILL BE VERY LOW
THROUGH THE DAY WITH VALUES IN THE UPPER SINGLE DIGIT AND LOWER
TEENS. FUEL CONDITIONS ACROSS SRN CA STILL DO NOT WARRANT A CRITICAL
AREA. FUELS ARE MUCH DRIER OVER SERN CA AND SWRN AZ...BUT WIND
SPEEDS GENERALLY LESS THAN 15-20 MPH WILL PRECLUDE A CRITICAL THREAT
   TODAY.

   ...MID ATLANTIC REGION...
SLY WINDS WILL INCREASE TODAY WITH TIGHTENING PRESSURE GRADIENT AS
LOW APPROACHES FROM THE W. SOME RESIDUAL DRY AIR FROM ATLANTIC HIGH
WILL LIKELY RESULT IN MIN RH VALUES IN THE 30 PERCENT RANGE ACROSS
VA AND THE CAROLINAS WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER 70S. SLY WINDS
NEAR 15 MPH...RECENT DROUGHT CONDITIONS ESPECIALLY OVER VA AND
MODERATELY LOW RH MAY RESULT IN AN INCREASED FIRE THREAT...ALTHOUGH
IT WILL LIKELY REMAIN SUB-CRITICAL IN MAGNITUDE.

   VALID 041200Z - 051200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER TROUGH AND SURFACE LOW WILL CONTINUE EWD OUT OF THE LOWER MS
VALLEY AND INTO THE OH VALLEY AND APPALACHIANS BY AFTERNOON WITH
WIDESPREAD PRECIPITATION. BEHIND THE TRAILING COLD FRONT...COOLER
AND DRIER AIR WILL FILTER INTO THE MS VALLEY. FARTHER W...ANOTHER
UPPER TROUGH WILL DIVE SEWD ACROSS THE NRN AND CNTRL ROCKIES
LATE...HELPING TO INDUCE A LEE TROUGH ACROSS THE CNTRL HIGH PLAINS.
THIS WILL RESULT IN INCREASED WINDS OVER ERN NM AND W TX.

   ...ERN NM...WRN TX...
A DEVELOPING LEE TROUGH OVER ERN CO INTO NERN NM WILL RESULT IN
WARMER AND DRIER CONDITIONS FOR A MARGINAL FIRE THREAT. AFTER A VERY
COOL MORNING...TEMPERATURES WILL RISE INTO THE 50S AND
60S...BRINGING RH VALUES DOWN INTO THE TEENS. AFTERNOON MIXING AND A
MODERATE PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL RESULT IN SWLY WINDS OF 15-20 MPH
SUSTAINED WITH LOCALLY HIGHER GUSTS. THE RELATIVELY COOL
TEMPERATURES AND RECENT PRECIPITATION WILL MITIGATE THE FIRE THREAT.
