   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0349 AM CDT THU MAR 27 2008

   VALID 271200Z - 281200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR A PORTION OF THE SRN ROCKIES/HIGH
   PLAINS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A SEASONABLY STRONG ZONAL FLOW PATTERN WILL REMAIN OVER THE NATION
TODAY. A SHORTWAVE TROUGH WITHIN THIS PATTERN WILL MOVE FROM THE
ROCKIES INTO THE PLAINS. AHEAD OF THIS SYSTEM...MODERATE WINDS AND
LOW RH READINGS WILL PRODUCE CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS OVER
THE SRN ROCKIES/HIGH PLAINS REGION. MEANWHILE...LOW RH READINGS WILL
SLOWLY ERODE NWD ACROSS THE SERN STATES AS LOW LEVEL FLOW VEERS AND
SUPPORTS AN INCREASE IN LOW LEVEL MOISTURE OVER MOST OF FLA AND SRN
   AL/GA.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - ECENTRAL AZ...MOST OF NM...SERN CO
   AND WRN TX...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: WLY WINDS FROM 20-25 MPH WITH GUSTS OVER 35
   MPH...LOW RH READINGS FROM 10-15 PERCENT...INCIPIENT DROUGHT

MODERATE MID LEVEL FLOW OVER THE ROCKIES COMBINED WITH STEEP LOW-MID
LEVEL LAPSE RATES WILL SUPPORT MODERATE AFTERNOON WLY WINDS TO THE
WEST OF A SFC COLD FRONT OVER SERN CO AND TO THE WEST OF A LEE
TROUGH OVER WRN TX. SUSTAINED WLY WINDS WILL AVERAGE FROM 20-25 MPH
WITH GUSTS OVER 30 MPH. LOW DEWPTS /0-15 DEG F/ COMBINED WITH WELL
ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES IN THE 70S/80S WILL PRODUCE MIN RH
READINGS FROM 10-15 PERCENT. THIS WILL SUPPORT A CRITICAL FIRE
WEATHER THREAT OVER THE REGION. WINDS WILL DIMINISH BY EARLY
EVENING EXCEPT FOR THE HIGHEST ELEVATIONS OF NM AS THE LOW LEVELS
   STABILIZE.

   ...SERN STATES...
AS LOW LEVEL WINDS VEER TO A S-SELY DIRECTION...LOW LEVEL MOISTURE
WILL SLOWLY INCREASE OVER MUCH OF NRN FL...SRN AL/SRN GA TODAY.
NORTH OF THIS AREA...ANOTHER DAY OF LOW RH READINGS IS EXPECTED OVER
THE REGION. THE DEVELOPMENT OF A LEE TROUGH WILL SUPPORT INCREASING
WINDS OVER THE CAROLINAS WHERE SUSTAINED WINDS FROM 10-15 MPH WILL
BE COMMONPLACE. DESPITE LOW RH READINGS FROM 25-35
PERCENT...MARGINAL WINDS WILL PRECLUDE AN CRITICAL OUTLOOK AREA.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0352 AM CDT THU MAR 27 2008

   VALID 281200Z - 291200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A SEASONABLY STRONG UPPER LOW OVER THE GULF OF ALASKA WILL DIG SEWD
INTO THE PAC NW TOMORROW. ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SYSTEM...SWLY WINDS
WILL INCREASE OVER THE GREAT BASIN AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT. THESE
WINDS WILL SUPPORT NEAR CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS OVER THE
REGION AS LOW LEVELS WILL REMAIN DRY. FURTHER EAST....A COLD FRONT
WILL MOVE SWD THROUGH THE SRN PLAINS. INCREASING RH READINGS AHEAD
OF THE FRONT ASSOCIATED WITH SLY FLOW FROM THE GULF SHOULD PRECLUDE
A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT IN THE SERN STATES.

   ...SRN NV...SERN CA...NWRN AZ...
SWLY WINDS WILL INCREASE TO BETWEEN 15-20 MPH WITH GUSTS OVER 25 MPH
TOMORROW AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT AS STRENGTHENING MID LEVEL FLOW
COMBINES WITH STEEP LOW-MID LEVEL LAPSE RATES. ABOVE NORMAL
TEMPERATURES IN THE 70S COMBINED WITH DWPTS IN THE TEENS WILL
SUPPORT MIN RH READINGS FROM 10-15 PERCENT. GIVEN MARGINAL FCST
WINDS...A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA WILL NOT BE ISSUED ATTM.
