   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0302 AM CDT MON APR 07 2008

   VALID 071200Z - 081200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR NRN AZ...MUCH OF NM...W TX...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A BROAD UPPER TROUGH WILL SPREAD EWD ACROSS THE CNTRL ROCKIES INTO
THE PLAINS...INDUCING A SURFACE LOW TO DEEPEN OVER NERN NM AND THE
TX PANHANDLE. THE TIGHTENING PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL RESULT IN
INCREASED WINDS WHICH WILL COMBINE WITH A VERY DRY AIR MASS TO
CREATE CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS FROM NRN AZ EWD INTO W TX. ACROSS
THE SW...A MODERATE ZONAL FLOW REGIME WILL ALSO CREATE GUSTY WINDS
AT TIMES OVER SRN CA INTO SRN NV...BUT BELOW CRITICAL THRESHOLDS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - NRN AZ...MUCH OF NM...W TX...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: VERY LOW RH...STRONG WINDS

WINDS WILL INCREASE THROUGHOUT THE DAY OVER MUCH OF THE SRN ROCKIES
AND SRN HIGH PLAINS AS THE BASE OF AN UPPER TROUGH MOVES THROUGH.
LOW PRESSURE WILL DEEPEN OVER ERN NM/NWRN TX WHERE IT WILL BE VERY
DRY WITH MIN RH VALUES IN THE UPPER SINGLE DIGITS TO LOWER TEENS.
SUSTAINED WINDS SHOULD AVERAGE 20-25 MPH AREAWIDE...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS AT RIDGE TOP. IN ADDITION...VERY UNSTABLE LOW LEVELS WILL
EXIST WITH DEEP MIXED LAYERS...MAINLY ACROSS ERN NM AND W
TX...FURTHER HEIGHTENING THE FIRE THREAT THIS AFTERNOON.

FURTHER E INTO CNTRL TX...GUSTY SLY WINDS OF 15-20 MPH WILL OCCUR
BUT WITH HIGHER RH VALUES OF 20-30 PERCENT...RESULTING IN A MORE
   MARGINAL FIRE THREAT.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0302 AM CDT MON APR 07 2008

   VALID 081200Z - 091200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR NWRN AZ...FAR SRN NV...PORTIONS OF
   SERN CA DESERTS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER TROUGH WILL DIG SEWD ACROSS THE W...ENTERING THE GREAT
BASIN AND SW LATE IN THE DAY. THIS WILL PRODUCE A DEEPENING SURFACE
LOW OVER SRN NV...AND WILL RESULT IN WINDY WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS.
LOCALLY GUSTY WINDS WILL ALSO PERSIST OVER MUCH OF AZ...NM AND W TX
WHERE IT WILL REMAIN WARM AND DRY. A COLD FRONT WILL SINK SWD OVER
THE SRN PLAINS AS A SHORTWAVE TROUGH AND ASSOCIATED SURFACE LOW
DEVELOP NEWD INTO THE MID MS VALLEY. ELSEWHERE...A SURFACE HIGH
PRESSURE RIDGE WILL REMAIN ACROSS THE ERN STATES WITH COOL AND DRY
   WEATHER.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - NWRN AZ...FAR SRN NV...PORTIONS OF
   SERN CA DESERTS...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: INCREASING WINDS AND VERY LOW RH

AS AN UPPER TROUGH APPROACHES...A LOW WILL DEVELOP OVER SRN NV AND
WILL RESULT IN INCREASING SWLY WINDS. SUSTAINED SPEEDS AROUND 20 MPH
ARE EXPECTED WITH HIGHER GUSTS AROUND 30 MPH. RH LEVELS WILL MAINLY
BE IN THE SINGLE DIGITS AND LOWER TEENS. A HIGH HAINES INDEX WILL
ALSO EXIST WITH VERY STEEP LOW LEVEL LAPSE RATES AND DEEP MIXED
   LAYERS.

...NERN AZ INTO NM AND WRN TX...
A GENERALLY ZONAL FLOW REGIME WILL BE IN PLACE ON TUE...WITH WEAKER
WIND SPEEDS COMPARED TO MON. HOWEVER...VERY LOW RH WILL REMAIN IN
PLACE WITH SINGLE DIGIT AND TEENS LIKELY. SUSTAINED WLY WINDS SHOULD
AVERAGE NEAR 15 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS...RESULTING IN A MARGINAL FIRE
   THREAT.
