   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0300 AM CDT SAT APR 12 2008

   VALID 121200Z - 131200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A BROAD UPPER TROUGH OVER THE ERN STATES WILL SLOWLY MOVE EWD TODAY.
BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES WILL BE COMMONPLACE OVER AREAS EAST OF
THE ROCKIES IN THE WAKE OF AN ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT. RIDGING OVER
THE WRN STATES WILL LEAD TO MUCH ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES IN THIS
REGION. AS SFC HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS SWD THROUGH THE ROCKIES...NELY
WINDS WILL INCREASE OVER SRN AZ/SRN CA. NEAR CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER
CONDITIONS WILL BE POSSIBLE FOR A FEW HR DURATION OVER SRN AZ WHERE
   ANTECEDENT CONDITIONS ARE DRY.

   ...SRN HIGH PLAINS...
BROAD CYCLONIC FLOW AROUND THE UPPER LOW/TROUGH OVER THE ERN CONUS
COMBINED WITH MODEST NW-SE ORIENTED PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL SUPPORT
MODERATE NWLY WINDS FROM 15-20 MPH WITH GUSTS OVER 25 MPH. DESPITE
COOLER THAN NORMAL TEMPERATURES...READINGS FROM THE LOWER 60S OVER
OK AND THE TX PANHANDLE TO THE MID 70S OVER CENTRAL TX COMBINED WITH
DEWPTS IN THE 30S WILL SUPPORT MIN RH READINGS AROUND 25 PERCENT.
MARGINAL WIND SPEEDS AND RECENT RAINFALL SHOULD LIMIT ANY CRITICAL
   FIRE WEATHER THREAT.

   ...SRN AZ...
A MODEST PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL EXIST BETWEEN HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE
ROCKIES AND LOW PRESSURE OVER THE GULF OF CALIFORNIA. THIS WILL
SUPPORT N-NELY WINDS OVER THE REGION TODAY. THE STRONGEST SUSTAINED
WINDS /15-25 MPH/ WILL OCCUR THROUGH 20Z BEFORE DIMINISHING DURING
THE AFTERNOON. THERE IS LIKELY TO BE A PERIOD OF CRITICALLY LOW RH
READINGS AND MODERATE WINDS. HOWEVER GIVEN A LONGER DURATION OF
THESE WINDS...A CRITICAL AREA WILL NOT BE OUTLINED.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR NRN FL...SRN GA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A BROAD UPPER TROUGH WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE SLOWLY EWD ACROSS THE ERN
STATES TOMORROW. ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SYSTEM...STRONG WLY LOW-MID
LEVEL FLOW WILL COMBINE WITH STEEP LOW LEVEL LAPSE RATES AND DRY LOW
LEVELS TO SUPPORT A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT OVER NRN FL/SRN GA.
FURTHER WEST...UPPER RIDGING OVER THE WEST WILL GRADUALLY SHIFT EWD
AHEAD OF ANOTHER UPPER TROUGH OFF THE WEST COAST. SFC HIGH PRESSURE
MOVING SWD THROUGH THE SRN ROCKIES WILL SUPPORT MODERATE ELY WINDS
   OVER SRN AZ.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - NRN FL...SRN GA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SUSTAINED WLY WINDS FROM 15-25 MPH...MIN RH
   READINGS FROM 25-35 PERCENT

IN THE WAKE OF A STRONG COLD FRONT TONIGHT/TOMORROW MORNING STEEP
LOW-MID LEVEL LAPSE RATES COMBINED WITH STRONG LOW-MID LEVEL WINDS
WILL SUPPORT WLY SFC WINDS FROM 15-25 MPH. COOLER THAN NORMAL
TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 60S/LOWER 70S WILL BE OFFSET BY LOW DWPTS
IN THE 30S TO SUPPORT MIN RH READINGS FROM 25-35 PERCENT PRODUCING
   CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS.

   ...SRN AZ...
AS SFC HIGH PRESSURE BUILD SWD THROUGH THE SRN ROCKIES...ANOTHER DAY
OF MODERATE ELY WINDS WILL OCCUR THROUGH THE EARLY AFTERNOON. A FEW
HR PERIOD OF CRITICALLY STRONG SUSTAINED WINDS /20-25 MPH/ AND LOW
RH READINGS /LESS THAN 15 PERCENT/ WILL OCCUR. HOWEVER LIMITED
DURATION OF CRITICAL CONDITIONS WILL PRECLUDE AN OUTLOOK AREA.

   ...SRN PLAINS/LOWER MS VALLEY...
NWLY WINDS FROM 15-20 MPH OVER THE SRN PLAINS AND FROM 15-25 MPH
OVER THE LOWER MS VALLEY COMBINED WITH MIN RH READINGS FROM 25-35
PERCENT WILL SUPPORT NEAR CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS OVER THE
REGION TOMORROW. RECENT WET SPELL/GREEN UP AND MARGINAL RH READINGS
WILL ALL PRECLUDE A CRITICAL OUTLOOK AREA.
