   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0403 AM CDT TUE APR 29 2008

   VALID 291200Z - 301200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR A PORTION OF THE SRN GREAT
   BASIN/FOUR CORNERS REGION...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR A PORTION OF WEST TX/WRN OK...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR A PORTION OF THE SOUTHEAST...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR THE FRONT RANGE OF CO NWD INTO
   CENTRAL/ERN MT...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A STRONG UPPER TROUGH WILL DIG SEWD ACROSS THE WRN CONUS THROUGH
TODAY. AHEAD OF AN ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT...MODERATE SWLY WINDS WILL
DEVELOP OVER MUCH OF THE GREAT BASIN AND ROCKIES REGION. PORTIONS OF
THE SRN GREAT BASIN/FOUR CORNERS REGION AND THE FRONT RANGE/HIGH
PLAINS REGION WILL SEE SUFFICIENTLY STRONG WINDS...LOW RH READINGS
AND DRY FUELS TO SUPPORT A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT. FURTHER
SE...A SECONDARY UPPER TROUGH WILL PUSH OFF THE ERN SEABOARD. IN THE
WAKE OF THIS SYSTEM...A DRY AIRMASS COMBINED WITH MODERATE WINDS
WILL PRODUCE A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT OVER AREAS THAT HAVE
SEEN LESS THAN NORMAL RAINFALL IN RECENT WEEKS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - A PORTION OF THE SRN GREAT
   BASIN/FOUR CORNERS REGION...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SUSTAINED SWLY WINDS FROM 20-30 MPH...MIN RH
   READINGS FROM 5-15 PERCENT

AHEAD OF A STRONG UPPER TROUGH...SFC LOW PRESSURE WILL DEEPEN OVER
THE NRN GREAT BASIN. SWLY WINDS FROM 20-30 MPH WILL BE COMMONPLACE
OVER THE REGION AS MID LEVEL WIND FIELDS INCREASE AND STEEP LOW-MID
LEVEL LAPSE RATES EXIST. THESE WINDS WILL COMBINE WITH A VERY DRY
AIRMASS /MIN RH READINGS FROM 5-10 PERCENT/ TO SUPPORT A CRITICAL
FIRE WEATHER THREAT. A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL MOVE SWD THROUGH
NV/WRN UT OVERNIGHT. BEHIND THE FRONT...RH READINGS WILL IMPROVE.
AHEAD OF THE FRONT...GUSTY WINDS WILL MAINTAIN POOR RH RECOVERY.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - NWRN TX/WRN OK...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SUSTAINED SSWLY WINDS FROM 20-25 MPH...MIN RH
   READINGS FROM 5-15 PERCENT

STRENGTHENING UPPER LEVEL WINDS OVER THE ROCKIES WILL SUPPORT AN
INTENSIFYING PRESSURE GRADIENT OVER THE SRN PLAINS AS THE LEE TROUGH
DEVELOPS. MODERATE SSWLY WINDS FROM 20-25 MPH WILL DEVELOP THIS
MORNING AS A STRONG LOW LEVEL JET WILL MIX TOWARDS THE SFC OVER MUCH
OF TX...WRN/SRN OK. LOW DEWPTS /FROM SINGLE DIGITS TO THE 20S/ WILL
COMBINE WITH TEMPERATURES ABOVE NORMAL IN THE 80S TO MID 90S TO
SUPPORT MIN RH READINGS FROM 5-10 PERCENT...LEADING TO A CRITICAL
   FIRE WEATHER THREAT.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SERN AL...SRN GA...NRN/CENTRAL
   FLA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SUSTAINED NWLY WINDS FROM 15-20 MPH...MIN RH
   READINGS FROM 20-30 PERCENT

IN THE WAKE OF AN UPPER TROUGH AND SFC COLD FRONT...MODERATE NWLY
WINDS WILL DEVELOP OVER THE SOUTHEASTERN STATES TODAY. DRIER AIR
WILL SUPPORT MIN RH READINGS FROM 20-30 PERCENT. AREAS OF SRN
GA/SERN AL AND MUCH OF NRN/CENTRAL FL HAVE RECEIVED LITTLE
PRECIPITATION OVER THE LAST FEW WEEKS. COMBINED WITH LOW RH
READINGS/WINDS...THIS WILL SUPPORT A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - ERN CO NWD INTO CENTRL/ERN MT...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SUSTAINED SWLY-SELY WINDS FROM 20-25 MPH...MIN
   RH READINGS FROM 5-10 PERCENT

AS MID LEVEL FLOW INTENSIFIES OVER THE ROCKIES...A SFC LEE TROUGH
WILL STRENGTHEN ALONG THE HIGH PLAINS. OVER THE FRONT RANGE OF ERN
CO/ERN WY NWD INTO CENTRAL MT...SWLY WINDS WILL INCREASE TO BETWEEN
20-25 MPH THIS AFTERNOON. VERY LOW RH READINGS COMBINED WITH THESE
WINDS WILL SUPPORT A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT. TO THE EAST OF
THE LEE TROUGH...SUSTAINED SELY WINDS FROM 20-25 MPH WILL DEVELOP
FROM ERN CO NWD INTO ERN MT. AGAIN IN THIS AREA...MIN RH READINGS
FROM 10-15 PERCENT WILL SUPPORT A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT. IN
ADDITION TO THE LIKELIHOOD OF CRITICALLY LOW RH READINGS OVER
CENTRAL MT...ISOLATED DRY TSTMS ARE POSSIBLE LATE THIS AFTERNOON
AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT...AS MID LEVEL MOISTURE/INSTABILITY SUPPORT
TSTMS ABOVE A DRY/DEEPLY MIXED BOUNDARY LAYER.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0411 AM CDT TUE APR 29 2008

   VALID 301200Z - 011200Z

...EXTREMELY CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR A PORTION OF THE SRN
   ROCKIES/SRN HIGH PLAINS...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR A LARGE PORTION OF THE SOUTHWEST
   AND SRN HIGH PLAINS...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR CENTRAL/SRN FLA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A STRONG UPPER TROUGH WILL DIG SEWD THROUGH THE ROCKIES TOMORROW.
AHEAD OF THIS TROUGH...A BROAD ZONE OF MODERATE SWLY WINDS WILL BE
PREVALENT OVER THE SWRN STATES INTO THE SRN HIGH PLAINS. COMBINED
WITH LOW RH READINGS...A LARGE AREA OF CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER
CONDITIONS WILL DEVELOP. ALONG A CORRIDOR OF HIGHEST
TEMPERATURES/LOWEST RH READINGS AND STRONG WINDS...EXTREMELY
CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE ANTICIPATED ACROSS SRN/ERN NM
   AND WRN TX.

...EXTREMELY CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SRN/ERN NM...WRN TX...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SUSTAINED SWLY WINDS FROM 30-35 MPH WITH GUSTS
OVER 40 MPH...MIN RH READINGS FROM 5-10 PERCENT...LONG TERM DROUGHT

AHEAD OF A STRONG UPPER TROUGH...MID LEVEL WINDS WILL INCREASE OVER
THE SRN ROCKIES TOMORROW. THE EXTREMELY CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT
IS OUTLINED WHERE THE STRONGEST MID LEVEL WINDS WILL MIX TOWARDS THE
SFC TO SUPPORT STRONG SFC WINDS /SUSTAINED AOA 35 MPH/. THIS WILL
COMBINE WITH NEAR RECORD TEMPERATURES AND LOW RH READINGS NEAR 5
PERCENT TO PRODUCE EXTREMELY CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS.
MODERATE WINDS WILL CONTINUE OVERNIGHT SUPPORTING POOR RH RECOVERY
AND A CONTINUATION OF CRITICAL CONDITIONS IN MOST HIGHER ELEVATIONS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - THE SOUTHWEST...SRN HIGH PLAINS...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SUSTAINED SWLY WINDS FROM 20-30 MPH...MIN RH
   READINGS FROM 5-15 PERCENT

SURROUNDING THE EXTREMELY CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT A LARGE
REGION OF CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS WILL EXIST WHERE MODERATE
SWLY WINDS WILL COMBINE WITH LOW RH READINGS. THE ERN BORDER OF THE
CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT IS DELINEATED WHERE THE DRYLINE IS
EXPECTED DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS. CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER
CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED AS FAR NORTH AS SERN CO /SOUTH OF A SFC
LOW/COLD FRONT/. THE WRN PORTION OF THE CRITICAL AREA /THE LOWER CO
RIVER VALLEY/SRN GREAT BASIN/ IS DELINEATED JUST AHEAD OF A COLD
   FRONT.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SRN/CENTRAL FLA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SUSTAINED ENELY WINDS AROUND 15 MPH...MIN RH
   READINGS FROM 30-35 PERCENT

IN THE WAKE OF THE COLD FRONT...SFC HIGH PRESSURE WILL CONTINUE TO
BUILD SWD THROUGH THE SERN STATES. A SUFFICIENTLY STRONG PRESSURE
GRADIENT WILL EXIST TO SUPPORT A MODEST N-NELY WIND OVER SRN/CENTRAL
FLA. DESPITE HIGH RH READINGS ALONG THE IMMEDIATE EAST COAST /DUE TO
ONSHORE FLOW/...A SUFFICIENTLY DRY AIRMASS /MIN RH READINGS FROM
30-35 PERCENT/ INLAND WILL COMBINE WITH THE MODERATE WINDS TO
SUPPORT A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT TOMORROW AFTERNOON.

   ...NRN FLA...
SLIGHTLY WEAKER WINDS WILL EXIST OVER NRN FLA...CLOSER TO THE CENTER
OF SFC HIGH PRESSURE. THIS WILL LIMIT THE CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER
POTENTIAL IN THIS AREA. HOWEVER...LOW RH READINGS FROM 25-30 PERCENT
WILL SUPPORT VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER.
