   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0203 AM CDT MON JUN 02 2008

   VALID 021200Z - 031200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SRN UT/CO...MUCH OF
   AZ/NM...PORTIONS OF WRN KS/OK/TX...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
THE EAST COAST UPPER TROUGH WILL GRADUALLY BEGIN TO SHIFT OFFSHORE.
AT THE SURFACE...A COLD FRONT EXTENDING FROM A SURFACE LOW OFF THE
MID ATLANTIC COAST WILL REMAIN QUASI STATIONARY ACROSS THE GULF
COAST STATES. THIS FRONT WILL EXTEND WWD TOWARDS A DEEPENING SURFACE
LOW NEAR SERN CO...RISING SLOWLY NEWD AS A WARM FRONT ACROSS THE SRN
   PLAINS.

IN THE WEST...THE UPPER LOW THAT HAS REMAINED NEARLY STATIONARY OVER
THE PAST FEW DAYS WILL FINALLY EJECT EWD AND DEVELOP INTO AN OPEN
WAVE...WITH THE ASSOCIATED TROUGH EXTENDING THROUGH SRN CA. THIS
WILL OCCUR AHEAD OF A DEVELOPING SYSTEM AND INCREASING JET CORE
CLEARLY SEEN APPROACHING THE PACIFIC COAST ON SATELLITE IMAGERY THIS
MORNING. SLY TO SWLY WINDS WILL INCREASE ACROSS THE SWRN STATES AS
THE UPPER TROUGH DEEPENS. ALSO IN RESPONSE...SURFACE PRESSURE FALLS
WILL OCCUR ACROSS THE PLAINS STATES. DEEPENING SURFACE PRESSURE NEAR
SERN CO WILL INCREASE SURFACE WINDS...ESPECIALLY ACROSS PORTIONS OF
ERN NM/CO AND WRN TX/OK WHERE RELATIVE HUMIDITIES WILL REMAIN LOW.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SRN UT/CO...MUCH OF AZ/NM...PORTIONS
   OF WRN KS/OK/TX...

   PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS...LOW RH

SLY TO SWLY WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE ACROSS A WIDESPREAD AREA
IN MUCH OF THE SOUTHWEST IN RESPONSE TO AN UPPER TROUGH EXTENDING
FROM ERN WA/OR AND NRN ID THROUGH SRN CA. WINDS WILL ALSO INCREASE
ACROSS ERN PORTIONS OF CO/NM AND WRN KS/OK/TX AS SURFACE PRESSURE
DEEPENS NEAR SERN CO. HOT AND DRY CONDITIONS WILL LEAD TO RELATIVE
HUMIDITIES DROPPING INTO SINGLE DIGITS AND LOWER TEENS AS WINDS
INCREASE TO NEAR 20 TO 30 MPH...WITH HIGHER SPEEDS ACROSS THE ERN
   SLOPES IN NM...WRN TX...ESPECIALLY NEAR GUADALUPE...AND WRN KS/OK.

   ...SRN CA/NV/AZ...
SWLY WINDS WILL INCREASE TODAY...ALTHOUGH WINDS WILL BE SOMEWHAT
MARGINAL IN THESE AREAS. DESPITE THIS...LOCALIZED TERRAIN EFFECTS
AND OCCASIONAL GUSTS MAY BRING ENHANCED FIRE DANGER TO AREAS THAT
HAVE BEEN PERSISTENTLY DRY...AND WHERE HOT AND DRY CONDITIONS WILL
LEAD TO RELATIVE HUMIDITIES IN THE SINGLE DIGITS ONCE AGAIN.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0321 AM CDT MON JUN 02 2008

   VALID 031200Z - 041200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SERN CO...OK PANHANDLE...WRN
   TX...ERN NM...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR NRN AZ...SRN UT...SWRN CO...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SRN CA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
SATELLITE IMAGERY DEPICTS A SIGNIFICANT AREA OF LOW PRESSURE AND AN
ASSOCIATED JET MAX JUST BEGINNING TO APPROACH THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST
COAST THIS MORNING. THIS SYSTEM IS FORECAST TO MOVE ONSHORE EARLY ON
D2...TUESDAY...CAUSING WINDS TO INCREASE ACROSS MUCH OF THE WEST IN
ASSOCIATION WITH BOTH JET WINDS OVERSPREADING THE REGION...AND WITH
HEIGHT FALLS THAT WILL INDUCE DEVELOPMENT OF A SURFACE TROUGH ACROSS
   THE INTERMOUNTAIN WEST.

AHEAD OF THIS ACROSS THE PLAINS...HEIGHT FALLS WILL DEEPEN A SURFACE
LOW NEAR SWRN KS...INCREASING WINDS ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE SOUTHERN
PLAINS BY LATE AFTERNOON. WIDESPREAD PRECIPITATION WILL OCCUR ALONG
A SURFACE STATIONARY FRONT EXTENDING ROUGHLY FROM THIS LOW ENEWD TO
THE GREAT LAKES REGION...AND AHEAD OF A SERIES OF SHORT WAVES THAT
WILL MOVE ACROSS THE NRN PLAINS. MEANWHILE...HOT AND DRY CONDITIONS
WILL CONTINUE ACROSS MUCH OF THE SWRN STATES.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SERN CO...OK PANHANDLE...WRN
   TX...ERN NM...

   PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS...LOW RH...DROUGHT

STRONG SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS NEAR 25 TO 35 MPH WILL OVERSPREAD THE
REGION AS A SURFACE LOW DEEPENS NEAR SWRN KS. ADDITIONALLY...A LOW
LEVEL JET CORE AROUND THE BASE OF THE WEST COAST TROUGH WILL ALLOW
STRONGER WIND SPEEDS TO GUST AT THE SURFACE AS STRONG HEATING
PROMOTES DEEP MIXING BY AFTERNOON. RELATIVE HUMIDITIES ACROSS THIS
AREA WILL PLUMMET INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS AND TEENS...WITH
TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM MID 80S IN COLORADO...TO NEAR 105 ACROSS
   THE ERN PLAINS OF NM.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - NRN AZ...SRN UT...SWRN CO...

   PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS...LOW RH

STRONG SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS WILL OVERSPREAD THE REGION AROUND THE
BASE OF THE NEXT WEST COAST TROUGH. SURFACE SPEEDS OF NEAR 20 TO 25
MPH WILL BE LIKELY...WITH HIGHER SPEEDS IN FAVORED PASSES AND
CANYONS. STRONGER GUSTS CAN BE EXPECTED BY AFTERNOON. TEMPERATURES
INTO THE UPPER 60S TO MID 80S WILL ALLOW RELATIVE HUMIDITIES TO DROP
INTO THE TEENS FOR EXTENDED DURATIONS. VERY LITTLE RECOVERY IN RHS
   CAN BE EXPECTED OVERNIGHT.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SRN CA...

   PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS...LOW RH

A JET CORE WILL BEGIN TO SHIFT SWD ALONG THE WEST COAST...BRINGING
STRONG NWLY TO WLY WINDS TO COASTAL REGIONS. WIND SPEEDS NEAR 25 MPH
WITH GUSTS NEAR 40 MPH WILL BE LIKELY...WITH FAVORABLY ORIENTED
VALLEYS LOCALLY ENHANCING WIND SPEEDS. TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER
VALLEYS WILL EASILY WARM INTO THE 90S...BRINGING AFTERNOON AND LATE
EVENING RELATIVE HUMIDITIES INTO THE LOWER TEENS.
