   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0405 AM CDT TUE JUN 10 2008

   VALID 101200Z - 111200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SRN GREAT BASIN TO PORTIONS OF THE
   CNTRL/SRN HIGH PLAINS...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR CNTRL VALLEYS OF CA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
POTENT UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH CENTERED OVER THE PACIFIC NW WILL SHIFT
EWD ACROSS THE NRN/CNTRL ROCKIES THROUGH EARLY WED. INTENSE BELT OF
MID-LEVEL WLYS WILL SPREAD SWD REACHING NRN CA TO CNTRL NV/NRN UT BY
LATE AFTERNOON. AT THE SURFACE...LEE LOW WILL BECOME CENTERED OVER
THE CNTRL HIGH PLAINS WITH A COLD FRONT STRETCHING W/SWWD THROUGH
CNTRL UT INTO SRN NV BY 11/00Z. A DRY LINE WILL BE DRAPED SWD FROM
THE LEE CYCLONE...ACROSS THE CNTRL/SRN HIGH PLAINS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SRN GREAT BASIN TO PORTIONS OF THE
   CNTRL/SRN HIGH PLAINS...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: VERY STRONG WINDS / LOW RH / LONG-TERM DRYNESS

A SIGNIFICANT FIRE WEATHER AFTERNOON IS ANTICIPATED WITH A
WIDESPREAD CRITICAL THREAT...AND LOCALLY EXTREME CONDITIONS IN NRN
AZ/SRN UT. LOW/MID-LEVEL W/SWLYS WILL INCREASE THROUGH THE DAY IN
ADVANCE OF APPROACHING SHORT WAVE AND ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT...TO THE
WEST OF A HIGH PLAINS DRY LINE. SUSTAINED SURFACE WINDS FROM 20 TO
30 MPH WILL BE COMMON BY PEAK HEATING WITH LOCALIZED SPEEDS
APPROACHING 40 MPH...MOST LIKELY ACROSS SRN UT/NRN AZ. AS
TEMPERATURES WARM WITHIN A DRY AIR MASS /CHARACTERIZED BY GPS PW
VALUES AROUND 0.25 IN/...RH VALUES WILL PLUMMET TO AROUND 5 TO 12
   PERCENT.

THE PASSAGE OF THE COLD FRONT DURING THE EVENING/OVERNIGHT WILL
BRING SIGNIFICANTLY COOLER TEMPERATURES ACROSS UT/CO. GUSTY NLYS
WILL CONTINUE FARTHER W ACROSS SRN NV/SERN CA WITH RATHER POOR RH
   RECOVERY.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - CNTRL VALLEYS OF CA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS / LOW RH / MODERATE DROUGHT

RECENT VAD PROFILERS DEPICT 20-25 KT NLY LOW-LEVEL FLOW IN THE WAKE
OF A COLD FRONT PASSAGE ACROSS THE SACRAMENTO VALLEY. THIS SHOULD
GRADUALLY INCREASE AND REMAIN STRONG THROUGH TODAY OWING TO A TIGHT
PRESSURE GRADIENT. A LONG DURATION OF SUSTAINED SURFACE SPEEDS OF 20
TO 25 MPH APPEARS LIKELY. THIS WILL BECOME COUPLED WITH RH VALUES
FALLING TO AROUND 8 TO 15 PERCENT AS TEMPERATURES WARM INTO THE 80S
   TO LOWER 90S.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0505 AM CDT TUE JUN 10 2008

   VALID 111200Z - 121200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SRN ROCKIES TO PORTIONS OF THE
   CNTRL/SRN HIGH PLAINS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
DEEP UPPER-LEVEL LOW INITIALLY CENTERED OVER THE NRN ROCKIES WILL
TRANSLATE SLOWLY EWD ACROSS THE NRN HIGH PLAINS. BELT OF STRONG
   MID-LEVEL W/SWLYS /AOA 60 MPH AT 500 MB/ WILL BECOME CENTERED FROM
THE FOUR CORNERS NEWD ACROSS THE NRN/CNTRL PLAINS WED AFTERNOON. LEE
CYCLONE WILL STRENGTHEN OVER SERN CO WITH ATTENDANT DRYLINE DRAPED
   SWD ACROSS WRN TX.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SRN ROCKIES TO PORTIONS OF THE
   CNTRL/SRN HIGH PLAINS...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS / LOW RH / LONG-TERM DRYNESS

A SIGNIFICANT FIRE WEATHER DAY IS EXPECTED ON WED AFTERNOON WITH
WIDESPREAD STRONG WINDS/LOW RH ON SRN PERIPHERY OF INTENSE MID-LEVEL
WLYS AND WEST OF HIGH PLAINS DRYLINE. RH VALUES WILL LIKELY FALL TO
BETWEEN 5 TO 12 PERCENT. DEEPLY MIXED THERMODYNAMIC PROFILES WILL
SUPPORT SUSTAINED SURFACE WINDS OF 25 TO 35 MPH...WITH LOCALLY
HIGHER SPEEDS POSSIBLE IN NERN NM AND WRN TX/OK PANHANDLES. THIS
REGION WILL BE MONITORED FOR A POTENTIAL UPGRADE TO EXTREME IN THE
   NEXT DAY 1 OUTLOOK.

...SACRAMENTO VALLEY AREA OF N-CNTRL CA...
LOCALIZED CRITICAL CONDITIONS APPEAR PROBABLE...BUT UNCERTAINTIES
WITH DURATION OF STRONG SURFACE WINDS PRECLUDE A CRITICAL THREAT
ATTM. AT LEAST MODERATE NLY FLOW SHOULD PERSIST ACROSS THE
SACRAMENTO VALLEY WITH A TIGHT PRESSURE GRADIENT...ALBEIT WEAKER
THAN DAY 1. SUSTAINED SURFACE WINDS OF 15 TO 20 MPH APPEAR LIKELY
DURING THE AFTERNOON AS RH VALUES FALL TO BETWEEN 10 TO 15 PERCENT.
