   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0325 AM CDT SUN JUL 20 2008

   VALID 201200Z - 211200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
THE UPPER RIDGE WILL BUILD OVER THE WRN AND CNTRL STATES AS A WEAK
LOW AMPLITUDE UPPER SHORTWAVE TROUGH SHIFTS EWD ACROSS THE GREAT
LAKES AND INTO NEW ENGLAND. THIS WAVE WILL BRING PRECIPITATION
ACROSS THOSE AREAS. TO THE W...GENERALLY HOT AND DRY WEATHER WILL
PREVAIL UNDER THE RIDGE...EXCEPT FOR HEAVY RAINS OVER AZ. MORE
ISOLATED STORM ACTIVITY WILL OCCUR IN SURROUNDING AREAS AS MOISTURE
SPREADS NWWD AROUND THE UPPER HIGH.

ELSEWHERE...IT WILL REMAIN HOT AND GENERALLY DRY OVER MUCH OF THE
DEEP SOUTH WITH WEAK HIGH PRESSURE IN PLACE. SLY WINDS WILL INCREASE
OVER THE CNTRL HIGH PLAINS IN RESPONSE TO A HEAT LOW OVER ERN CO AND
WRN NEB UNDER THE E SIDE OF THE UPPER RIDGE.

   ...NV...UT...SERN ID...WRN WY...SWRN MT...
MID LEVEL MOISTURE WILL CONTINUE TO STREAM NWD AROUND THE WRN EDGE
OF THE UPPER HIGH CIRCULATION. THIS WILL RESULT IN ISOLATED DRY
THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN OVER ERN NV NEWD INTO THE
YELLOWSTONE AREA. WARM TEMPERATURES...RH OF 15-20 PERCENT AND
ANTECEDENT DRY CONDITIONS WILL RESULT IN FAIRLY HIGH LIGHTNING
IGNITION EFFICIENCY. HOWEVER...THE EXPECTED NUMBER AND DENSITY OF
LIGHTNING STRIKES IS NOT EXPECTED TO REACH CRITICAL LEVELS.

   ...NRN CA INTO SWRN OREGON...
VERY HOT AND DRY WEATHER WILL PERSIST ESPECIALLY OVER THE NRN
VALLEYS OF CA WHERE TEMPERATURES WILL EXCEED 100F AND RH WILL DROP
INTO THE TEENS. SLY WINDS WILL INCREASE TO AROUND 15 MPH WITH
LOCALLY HIGHER GUSTS. FARTHER N...NLY WINDS OF 15-20 MPH ARE LIKELY
W OF THE OREGON CASCADES DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON...WHILE RH DROPS
   INTO THE 20-30 PERCENT RANGE.

...ERN CO...WRN NEB AND KS...OK/TX PANHANDLES...
A MARGINAL FIRE THREAT WILL EXIST TODAY DUE TO VERY HOT
TEMPERATURES...LOW RH AND GUSTY WINDS. A WEAK AREA OF LOW PRESSURE
WILL DEEPEN OVER NERN CO AND WRN NEB...WITH SLY WINDS INCREASING TO
15-20 MPH BY MID AFTERNOON. SURFACE RH WILL DROP INTO THE TEENS AND
LOWER TWENTIES AS TEMPERATURES RISE TO NEAR 100 F. ANY FIRE THREAT
SHOULD REMAIN RELATIVELY LOCALIZED DUE TO EFFECTS OF RECENT
PRECIPITATION AS WELL AS MODEST SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0336 AM CDT SUN JUL 20 2008

   VALID 211200Z - 221200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
THE UPPER RIDGE OVER THE ROCKIES WILL CONTINUE TO BUILD WITH A LARGE
AREA OF WARM WEATHER FROM THE WRN STATES INTO THE PLAINS. MONSOONAL
MOISTURE WILL CONTINUE TO INCREASE BENEATH THE RIDGE...WITH ISOLATED
TO SCATTERED AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE ERN GREAT BASIN...FOUR
CORNERS STATES AS WELL AS ID...WY AND SRN MT. TO THE W...A WEAK
UPPER TROUGH/LOW WILL AFFECT NRN CA WITH SLIGHTLY INCREASED WINDS
NEAR RIDGE TOPS. MEANWHILE...VERY HOT AND DRY WEATHER WILL PERSIST
FOR MUCH OF THE SERN STATES WITH ONLY ISOLATED AFTERNOON STORMS
   ALONG THE GULF COAST.

...SRN AND ERN ID...SWRN MT...WRN WY...
ISOLATED TO SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WILL OCCUR DURING THE AFTERNOON
AS MONSOONAL MOISTURE SURGES NWD. STORMS WILL BE MOSTLY WET ACROSS
UT AND ERN NV WHERE PRECIPITABLE WATER VALUES WILL APPROACH 1.00
INCH...BUT VALUES BELOW 0.75 INCHES WILL OCCUR OVER ERN ID...SWRN MT
AND WRN WY. THUS...A FEW STORMS WILL LIKELY PRODUCE VERY LITTLE
PRECIPITATION...WITH A FEW FIRE STARTS DUE TO LIGHTNING POSSIBLE. IN
ADDITION...DUE TO THE INCREASED MOISTURE...MIN SURFACE RH WILL ONLY
DROP INTO THE 20 PERCENT RANGE.
