   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0350 AM CDT THU AUG 07 2008

   VALID 071200Z - 081200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR OR...NRN NV...ID...SWRN MT...SERN
   WA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A HIGHLY AMPLIFIED PATTERN WILL PERSIST WITH AN UPPER TROUGH DIGGING
ACROSS THE ERN U.S. AND AN UPPER RIDGE ACROSS THE ROCKIES. THE WRN
EDGE OF THIS RIDGE WILL BREAK DOWN A BIT AS ANOTHER TROUGH
APPROACHES THE W COAST LATE IN THE DAY. THIS TROUGH ALONG WITH A NWD
SURGE OF MONSOONAL MOISTURE WILL PRODUCE SCATTERED
THUNDERSTORMS...SOME DRY...ACROSS THE PACIFIC NW AND INTO WRN MT.
ELSEWHERE...COOL HIGH PRESSURE WILL SPREAD SWD ACROSS THE UPPER MS
VALLEY AND MIDWEST WITH STORMS ALONG A COLD FRONT FROM THE NERN
STATES SWD ALONG THE MID ATLANTIC COAST AND SE.

   ...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - OR...NRN NV...ID...SWRN MT...SERN
   WA...

   PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SCATTERED DRY THUNDERSTORMS

A LOW PRESSURE TROUGH WILL DEVELOP ACROSS ERN WA AND OREGON THIS
AFTERNOON IN RESPONSE TO AN APPROACHING UPPER TROUGH. AMPLE MID
LEVEL MOISTURE WILL SPREAD NWD WITH SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS
DEVELOPING MAINLY DURING THE AFTERNOON. AFTERNOON RH IN THE TEENS
AND 20 PERCENT RANGE WILL KEEP OVERALL PRECIPITATION POTENTIAL LOW
AND THUS THE THREAT WILL EXIST FOR LIGHTNING STRIKES TO START FIRES.
THE DRIEST STORMS WILL BE OVER NV...SERN OREGON AND SRN ID WHERE THE
SUB CLOUD LAYER WILL BE THE DRIEST.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0351 AM CDT THU AUG 07 2008

   VALID 081200Z - 091200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR ERN OR...SRN ID...NERN NV...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
THE UPPER RIDGE WILL BREAK DOWN ACROSS THE PACIFIC NW AS AN UPPER
TROUGH SLIDES NEWD ACROSS THE AREA. AS A RESULT OF STRONGER
LIFT...NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED...FROM ERN OREGON ACROSS
ID INTO MT. MEANWHILE...A LARGE UPPER TROUGH WILL CONTINUE TO AFFECT
THE ERN STATES WITH COOL AND MOIST WEATHER.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - ERN OR...SRN ID...NERN NV...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS

STRONG LIFT WILL RESULT IN WIDESPREAD THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY ON
FRIDAY...MAINLY OVER NERN OR...ID AND WRN MT. MOST OF THE STORMS
OVER ERN ID AND WRN MT WILL BE WET...AS WILL BE THE STORMS FARTHER S
INTO WRN WY AND UT. HOWEVER...INCREASED HOT AND DRY SWLY WINDS
ASSOCIATED WITH THE SHORTWAVE PASSAGE WILL EXTEND FROM SRN
OREGON/NWRN NV NEWD INTO WRN/SWRN ID...PRODUCING FAVORABLE LOW LEVEL
PROFILES FOR DRY THUNDER. AS THE DRYING TAKES PLACE...THE COVERAGE
OF STORMS WILL DECREASE...BUT THERE SHOULD BE A ZONE WITH BOTH
SCATTERED STORMS AND STRONG EVAPORATION POTENTIAL FROM NERN OREGON
INTO SWRN AND SRN ID AND NRN NV. EXACT PLACEMENT OF CRITICAL AREA
WILL ALSO DEPEND ON HOW MUCH PRECIPITATION FALLS ON THU.
