   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0255 AM CDT TUE AUG 26 2008

   VALID 261200Z - 271200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR MUCH OF WY...SOUTH CNTRL MT...FAR
   SWRN SD...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR CNTRL AND N-CNTRL MN...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A STRONG UPPER TROUGH WILL CONTINUE TO TREK EWD ACROSS THE NRN
ROCKIES INTO THE NRN HIGH PLAINS WITH ASSOCIATED SURFACE COLD FRONT
SURGING SEWD ACROSS MT/WY/DAKOTAS. STRONG WINDS AND LOW RH
ASSOCIATED WITH THIS FRONT WILL CREATE CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS. TO
THE E...WINDS WILL BECOME QUITE STRONG OVER THE NRN PLAINS AS DRY
AIR FLOWS OUT OF THE HIGH TO THE E INTO THE DEVELOPING LOW PRESSURE
TROUGH TO THE W. MODERATELY LOW RH AND STRONG WINDS MAY YIELD
CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS FOR PORTIONS OF MN AS WELL.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - MUCH OF WY...SOUTH CNTRL MT...FAR
   SWRN SD...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: VERY STRONG AND SHIFTING WINDS WITH A COLD
   FRONT...LOW RH

A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL RAPIDLY MOVE SEWD ACROSS MT AND NERN
WY...ENTERING THE WRN DAKOTAS BY EARLY AFTERNOON. NWLY WINDS OF
25-30 MPH ARE EXPECTED WITH HIGHER GUSTS OF 30-40 MPH. WHILE
TEMPERATURES WILL BE COOLER BEHIND THE FRONT...MIN RH VALUES OF
20-25 PERCENT STILL APPEAR LIKELY OVER MT AND WRN SD...WITH TEENS
OVER MUCH OF WY. WINDS WILL REMAIN GUSTY THROUGH THE EVENING WITH
   GRADUALLY INCREASING RH.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - CNTRL AND N-CNTRL MN...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS...MODERATELY LOW RH AND DROUGHT

A LARGE AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL REMAIN OVER THE GREAT LAKES/NERN
STATES TODAY WHILE A DEEPENING LOW PRESSURE TROUGH MOVES INTO THE
CNTRL DAKOTAS. THE RESULTING PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL SUPPORT SELY
WINDS INCREASING TO AROUND 25 MPH OVER MUCH OF THE CRITICAL
AREA...WITH HIGHER SPEEDS OVER 30 MPH POSSIBLE NRN AND WRN AREAS.
HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL NEAR 80 F...WITH POCKETS OF MIN RH IN THE 20
PERCENT RANGE. IN ADDITION...CNTRL AND NRN MN HAS HAD A RELATIVE
LACK IN RAINFALL OVER THE PAST SEVERAL WEEKS.

   ...SRN ID INTO NRN NV...
A VERY DRY AIR MASS WILL REMAIN OVER THE REGION ALTHOUGH COOLER THAN
THE PREVIOUS DAY. MIN RH IN THE TEENS WILL PREVAIL ALONG WITH NWLY
WINDS NEAR 15 MPH. SLIGHTLY STRONGER WIND GUSTS WILL OCCUR OVER SERN
ID...OR JUST W OF THE CRITICAL AREA.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0256 AM CDT TUE AUG 26 2008

   VALID 271200Z - 281200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR CNTRL MT INTO WY...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
FAST ZONAL FLOW WILL BE IN PLACE FROM THE PACIFIC NW INTO THE NRN
PLAINS IN THE WAKE OF THE PREVIOUS DAYS TROUGH. A DRY AIR MASS WILL
MODIFY A BIT OVER OR/ID/MT/WY...WITH STRONG WINDS AND LOW RH
CREATING CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS FOR MT AND WY. MEANWHILE...A VERY
HOT AND DRY AIR MASS WILL REMAIN OVER CA AND THE GREAT BASIN UNDER A
FLAT UPPER RIDGE. FINALLY...LOCALLY GUSTY E AND NE WINDS MAY OCCUR
OVERNIGHT INTO NRN CA AS HIGH PRESSURE SETTLES INTO THE GREAT BASIN.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - CNTRL MT INTO WY...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS AND LOW RH

A LOW PRESSURE TROUGH WILL BE LOCATED ACROSS ERN MT AND WY WED
AFTERNOON WITH HIGH PRESSURE TO THE W. THIS...ALONG WITH MIXING OF
STRONG WLY WINDS ALOFT TO THE SURFACE WILL HELP CREATE WLY WINDS OF
20-30 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS. RH WILL DROP INTO THE TEENS DESPITE
TEMPERATURES ONLY IN THE 70S OVER MT AND THE LOWER 80S INTO WY.

   ...SERN ID...NRN NV AND UT...
MARGINALLY CRITICAL CONDITIONS ARE POSSIBLE DURING THE AFTERNOON DUE
TO WLY WINDS OF 15-20 MPH AND LOW RH. THE SUSTAINED WINDS WILL NOT
BE STRONG ENOUGH FOR A LARGE SCALE CRITICAL THREAT...BUT LOCALIZED
   GUSTS COULD BE STRONG.

   ...NRN CA...
LOCALLY GUSTY E WINDS MAY BE ONGOING WED MORNING ACROSS THE VALLEYS
OF NRN CA. DURING THE DAY TEMPERATURES WILL RISE TO ABOVE 100
DEGREES F...WITH LOCALLY GUSTY WINDS OF 10-15 MPH PERSISTING.
OVERNIGHT...E WINDS WILL INCREASE AND BECOME LOCALLY GUSTY MAINLY
ALONG THE W SLOPES OF THE SIERRA MTNS. RH RECOVERY MAY BE HAMPERED
   SOMEWHAT BY CONTINUED MIXING OVERNIGHT.
