   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER SHORTWAVE TROUGH IS EVIDENT OVER THE NRN ROCKIES ON MORNING
SATELLITE IMAGERY. THIS FEATURE WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE EWD OVER THE
NRN HIGH PLAINS DURING THE PERIOD WITH WEAK SHORTWAVE RIDGING IN ITS
WAKE OVER THE PAC NW. A SURFACE LOW PRESSURE AREA AND AN ATTENDANT
COLD FRONT ARE FORECAST TO MOVE SEWD OVER THE NRN HIGH PLAINS. A
SUFFICIENTLY STRONG OFFSHORE PRESSURE GRADIENT OVER PARTS OF NRN CA
MAY AGAIN DEVELOP BUT WIND SPEEDS ARE FORECAST TO REMAIN BELOW
CRITICAL THRESHOLDS ATTM. AS A RESULT...NO LARGE AREAS OF CRITICAL
FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE ANTICIPATED PRECLUDING A CRITICAL AREA.

   ...PARTS OF NRN CA...
A MODEST OFFSHORE PRESSURE GRADIENT MAY LEAD TO A BRIEF PERIOD OF
GUSTY NELY WINDS DURING THE MORNING HRS OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF
THE COASTAL RANGE. THIS IS PARTLY DUE TO A WEAKER SURFACE HIGH
PRESSURE PER MORNING SURFACE ANALYSIS OVER THE NRN GREAT BASIN/PAC
NW COMPARED TO PREVIOUS DAYS...SUGGESTING A REDUCED FIRE WEATHER
THREAT. WHERE WINDS ARE ENHANCED AND BECOME GUSTY...LOW RH MAY
ENHANCE AN OTHERWISE MORE LIMITED FIRE WEATHER THREAT.

   ...PARTS OF EXTREME NRN CA...
UPPER RIDGING ALOFT WILL HELP MAINTAIN SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE OVER
THE PACIFIC NW DURING THE PERIOD. A SUFFICIENT PRESSURE GRADIENT
MAY AGAIN DEVELOP LATE IN THE PERIOD LEADING TO NELY-ELY OFFSHORE
FLOW AFFECTING THE HIGHER TERRAIN. SUSTAINED WINDS APPROACHING 20
MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS MAY OCCUR AS SUGGESTED BY FORECAST SOUNDINGS.
THIS MAY ENABLE SOME AREAS TO EXPERIENCE AN ENHANCED FIRE WEATHER
THREAT LATE IN THE PERIOD EXTENDING INTO THE DAY 2 PERIOD WHERE LOW
   RH IS FAVORABLY JUXTAPOSED.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK

   VALID 041200Z - 051200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR PARTS OF NWRN CA / SWRN OR...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A BROAD UPPER TROUGH WILL BE CENTERED OVER THE NRN PLAINS WITH UPPER
RIDGING OVER THE WRN CONUS. A WEAK UPPER DISTURBANCE WILL MOVE SEWD
FROM THE NRN ROCKIES TO THE CENTRAL ROCKIES BY THE END OF THE
PERIOD. SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE WILL LIKELY RESIDE OVER PARTS OF THE
PACIFIC NW / NRN ROCKIES REGIONS. A LOW LEVEL PRESSURE TROUGH WILL
EXTEND NWD ALONG THE NRN CA COAST INTO SWRN OREGON. A SUFFICIENT
PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL PROBABLY DEVELOP CREATING GUSTY NELY AND ELY
WINDS. AS A RESULT...THE OVERALL PATTERN SEEMS SOMEWHAT SUPPORTIVE
FOR FIRE WEATHER POTENTIAL OVER PARTS OF NWRN CA AND SWRN OREGON.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - PARTS OF NWRN CA / SWRN OR...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG SUSTAINED WINDS NEAR 20 MPH WITH GUSTS /
   LOW RH

UPPER RIDGING WILL OCCUR IN THE WAKE OF AN UPPER DISTURBANCE MOVING
AWAY FROM THE REGION THURSDAY. THIS WILL PROVIDE A REINFORCING
INFLUENCE FOR SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE RESULTING IN A SUFFICIENTLY
STRONG OFFSHORE PRESSURE GRADIENT TO DEVELOP THURS NIGHT-FRI
MORNING. COOL NIGHTTIME TEMPS OVER INTERIOR OREGON WILL ALSO SERVE
TO STRENGTHEN SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE. SOME 00Z FORECAST SOUNDINGS
SHOW 20-25 KTS NELY-ELY FLOW AT 850MB. LOW RH WILL LIKELY BE
ASSOCIATED WITH ANY MODESTLY STRONG OFFSHORE FLOW.
