   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0316 AM CDT THU SEP 04 2008

   VALID 041200Z - 051200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR PARTS OF EXTREME SWRN OREGON / NRN
   CA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A BROAD UPPER TROUGH WILL BE CENTERED OVER THE NRN PLAINS WITH AN
UPPER RIDGE OVER THE WRN CONUS. AN UPPER DISTURBANCE EVIDENT ON
SATELLITE IMAGERY THIS MORNING OVER THE NRN ROCKIES REGION WILL MOVE
SEWD TO THE CENTRAL HIGH PLAINS BY THE END OF THE PERIOD. BEHIND
THIS FEATURE...WEAK UPPER RIDGING WILL OCCUR OVER PARTS OF THE
PACIFIC NW AND NRN GREAT BASIN. THIS WILL IN TURN PROVIDE A
REINFORCING INFLUENCE FOR SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE RESULTING IN A
SUFFICIENTLY STRONG OFFSHORE PRESSURE GRADIENT TO DEVELOP THU
NIGHT-FRI MORNING. A LOW LEVEL PRESSURE TROUGH WILL EXTEND NWD
ALONG THE NRN CA COAST INTO SWRN OREGON. GUSTY...DRY NELY AND ELY
WINDS WILL MAY EXIST AT THE START OF THE PERIOD BEFORE WANING DURING
THE AFTERNOON HRS. HOWEVER...GUSTY WINDS WILL LIKELY DEVELOP AGAIN
DURING THE OVERNIGHT HRS INTO FRIDAY MORNING SUPPORTING THE
POTENTIAL FOR CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS OVER PARTS OF NWRN CA
   AND SWRN OREGON.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - PARTS OF EXTREME SWRN OREGON / NRN
   CA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: GUSTY WINDS / LOW RH

CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS MAY EXIST IN LOCATIONS AT THE START
OF THE PERIOD BUT RELAX DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS AS WINDS SLACKEN.
WITH TEMPS EXPECTED TO WARM TO AROUND 100F OVER PARTS OF NRN CA
DURING THE DAYTIME HRS...RH RECOVERY WILL LIKELY BE HINDERED THIS
EVENING DUE TO DRY LOWER LEVEL FLOW TRAJECTORIES FROM THE NE DESPITE
NOCTURNAL COOLING/S INFLUENCE. THE LATEST 00Z/4 FORECAST SOUNDINGS
CONTINUE TO INDICATE SUSTAINED WINDS AROUND 20-25 MPH WITH GUSTS
POSSIBLY REACHING UP TO 35 MPH IN SOME LOCALES DURING THE LATE
OVERNIGHT EXTENDING INTO THE MORNING HOURS FOR THE DAY 2 PERIOD.
MODEL GUIDANCE SUGGESTS DRY AIR /MIN RH AROUND 15-20 PERCENT/ WILL
LIKELY BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE GUSTY WINDS POTENTIALLY SUPPORTING
   CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS.

NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0421 AM CDT THU SEP 04 2008

   VALID 051200Z - 061200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR PARTS OF EXTREME SWRN OREGON /
   NWRN CA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
THERE IS LITTLE EXPECTED CHANGE TO THE OVERALL PATTERN OVER THE
CONUS...WITH A BROAD UPPER LONG-WAVE TROUGH CENTERED OVER THE
N-CENTRAL STATES WITH AN UPPER RIDGE ALONG THE ERN AND WRN
SEABOARDS. A THERMAL TROUGH WILL BE SITUATED ALONG PARTS OF THE W
COAST AIDING IN THE FLOW TO BE OFFSHORE OVER PARTS OF NRN CA / SWRN
OREGON. EARLY IN THE PERIOD /PRIOR TO 17Z/ CRITICAL CONDITIONS MAY
LINGER FROM A DRY OFFSHORE WIND EVENT POTENTIALLY OCCURRING DURING
THE LATE PART OF THE DAY 1 PERIOD. A OVERALL OFFSHORE SETUP IS
EXPECTED TO REMAIN BUT ATTM CRITICAL CONDITIONS ARE NOT ANTICIPATED
TO DEVELOP BEYOND THE MORNING HRS FRIDAY.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - PARTS OF EXTREME SWRN OREGON / NWRN
   CA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: GUSTY WINDS / LOW RH

CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS MAY EXIST IN LOCATIONS AT THE START
OF THE PERIOD OVER HIGHER TERRAIN FOR PARTS OF EXTREME SWRN OREGON /
NWRN CA BUT END ONCE WINDS WEAKEN DURING THE LATE MORNING HRS.
BEFORE THEN...SUSTAINED WINDS UP TO 20 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS /UP TO
30 MPH/ AND LOW RH MAY EXIST OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN SUPPORTING
   POTENTIAL CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS.

   ...FRIDAY NIGHT-SATURDAY MORNING...
CONSENSUS AMONGST DETERMINISTIC GUIDANCE SUGGEST A DECREASE IN
OFFSHORE WIND MAGNITUDE. WHERE GUSTY CONDITIONS OCCUR...LOW RH WILL
LIKELY ENHANCE AN OTHERWISE MORE LIMITED THREAT.
