   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0135 AM CDT SAT SEP 27 2008

   VALID 281200Z - 291200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER RIDGE WILL BUILD OVER THE WRN STATES AS THE PATTERN
AMPLIFIES IN RESPONSE TO A DIGGING UPPER TROUGH OVER S-CNTRL CANADA.
A SURFACE THERMAL TROUGH WILL EXIST ACROSS WRN OREGON INTO NRN CA BY
AFTERNOON...WITH VERY WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS WITHIN. A SURFACE LOW
PRESSURE TROUGH WILL MOVE EWD ACROSS THE DAKOTAS INTO MN WITH GUSTY
NWLY WINDS AND LOW RH BEHIND IT. TO THE E...HIGH PRESSURE WILL KEEP
CONDITIONS RELATIVELY DRY OVER MUCH OF THE SRN PLAINS...MS VALLEY
REGION AS WELL AS THE DEEP SOUTH WITH WEAK WINDS.

   ...WRN OREGON INTO NRN CA...
WITH THE UPPER RIDGE BUILDING...A SURFACE THERMAL TROUGH WILL FORM
OVER WRN OREGON...EXTENDING SWD INTO THE SACRAMENTO VALLEY. VERY
WARM TEMPERATURES IN THE 90S ALONG WITH MIN RH OF 10-15 PERCENT WILL
OCCUR...EXCEPT HIGHER VALUES W OF THE CASCADES NEAR 20 PERCENT.
LOCALLY GUSTY NLY WINDS MAY DEVELOP OVER WRN OREGON LATE IN THE DAY
BUT SPEEDS ARE NOT EXPECTED TO EXCEED 10-15 MPH. THE VERY WARM AND
DRY WEATHER WILL RESULT IN INCREASED LOWER ATMOSPHERIC INSTABILITY
WITH A MDT HAINES INDEX EXPECTED. THUS...WEATHER CONDITIONS WILL BE
FAVORABLE FOR ANY ONGOING FIRES TO FLARE UP DURING THE LATE
   AFTERNOON HOURS.

OVERNIGHT...A MODERATE E-W PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL EXIST AS THE LOW
PRESSURE TROUGH REMAINS NEAR THE COAST. THIS MAY RESULT IN LOCALLY
GUSTY E WINDS ACROSS THE WRN SLOPES OF THE SIERRA AS WELL AS THE
   CASCADES.
