   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0348 AM CDT THU OCT 30 2008

   VALID 301200Z - 311200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER TROUGH WILL SPREAD E INTO THE WRN STATES WITH COOLER
TEMPERATURES AND LOCALLY GUSTY WINDS. A VERY DRY AIR MASS WILL
REMAIN IN PLACE OVER THE GREAT BASIN AS WELL AS THE FOUR CORNERS
   STATES.

S WINDS WILL INCREASE FROM THE SRN PLAINS INTO THE UPPER MS VALLEY
AS A WEAK UPPER TROUGH AXIS SHIFTS E ACROSS THE AREA.

FINALLY...A LARGE AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL KEEP CONDITIONS VERY
DRY ACROSS ALL OF THE SE AND MID ATLANTIC STATES. TEMPERATURES WILL
REMAIN RELATIVELY COOL AND WINDS WILL BE LIGHT.

   ...SERN STATES...
A LARGE AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL RESULT IN DRY AND CALM CONDITIONS
FROM THE LOWER MS VALLEY EWD INTO THE GULF COAST AND MID ATLANTIC
STATES...AS WELL AS THE OH/TN VALLEY REGION. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL
LARGELY BE IN THE 60S F EXCEPT 70S OVER FL PENINSULA. MIN RH WILL BE
QUITE LOW...AVERAGING IN THE 20 PERCENT RANGE EXCEPT 30S AND 40S
OVER CNTRL AND SRN FL. WINDS WILL MAINLY BE LIGHT...AND THE MAIN
MITIGATING FACTOR TO A GREATER FIRE THREAT. HOWEVER...NELY WINDS
AROUND 10 MPH...WITH GUSTS TO 15 MPH...WILL OCCUR OVER THE FL
PENINSULA PRODUCING A MARGINALLY CRITICAL THREAT.

   ...CA...SRN OR...GREAT BASIN...
A VERY DRY AIR MASS WILL REMAIN IN PLACE AS AN UPPER TROUGH...AND
MODERATE FLOW ALOFT...OVERSPREADS THE REGION. SLY WINDS OF 15-20 MPH
APPEAR LIKELY OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF NRN AND NERN CA...AS WELL
AS OVER THE NV. MIN RH WILL GENERALLY BE IN THE TEENS OVER THE WRN
GREAT BASIN AND CA DESERTS...WITH VALUES INTO THE 20 PERCENT RANGE
OVER NRN CA AND SRN OREGON. OVERALL...TEMPERATURES WILL BE
RELATIVELY COOL AND IN THE 60S AND 70S. BECAUSE OF THE COOL
TEMPERATURES...THE HAINES INDEX WILL BE LOW.

   ...SRN PLAINS...
SLY WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 15-25 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS AHEAD OF A
SURFACE LOW PRESSURE TROUGH. THE AIR MASS WILL BE WARM AND
DRY...WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES FROM 75 TO 80 F AND MIN RH IN THE 20
   PERCENT RANGE W TX/OK/KS.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0348 AM CDT THU OCT 30 2008

   VALID 311200Z - 011200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
THE UPPER RIDGE OVER THE ROCKIES WILL SHIFT EWD ACROSS THE HIGH
PLAINS AS AN UPPER TROUGH SPREADS E OVER THE W COAST...PACIFIC NW
AND GREAT BASIN. COOLER TEMPERATURES WILL BE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS
TROUGH...ALONG WITH AREAS OF PRECIPITATION FROM NRN CA INTO
WA/OR/ID. LOCALLY GUSTY SWLY WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY WILL EXIST
ACROSS THE GREAT BASIN INTO NRN AZ WITH A MARGINAL FIRE THREAT.

TO THE E...VERY WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL UNDER THE UPPER
RIDGE FROM THE NRN AND CNTRL HIGH PLAINS. GUSTY WINDS WILL OCCUR
OVER WY...CO AND WRN SD/NEB NEAR A SURFACE TROUGH.

ELSEWHERE...A LARGE AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL REMAIN E OF THE
MS...WITH VERY DRY WEATHER AND WEAK WINDS. SLIGHTLY STRONGER WINDS
WILL EXIST ACROSS CNTRL AND SRN FL...ON THE SRN EDGE OF THE HIGH.

   ...SERN STATES...
A DRY AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL REMAIN IN PLACE WITH A WEAK UPPER
RIDGE ALOFT. HIGH TEMPERATURES INTO THE UPPER 60S AND 70S F WILL BE
COMMON...RESULTING IN AN EXPANSIVE AREA OF 20 PERCENT RH DURING THE
AFTERNOON. WINDS WILL BE WEAK MOST AREAS EXCEPT FOR FL WHERE NELY
WINDS OF 10-15 MPH WILL OCCUR. A SMALL AREA OF MARGINAL WINDS AND
LOW RH WILL EXIST OVER NRN FL...WHICH COULD POSSIBLE RESULT IN
   CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS.

   ...NV...UT...NRN AZ...
AN UPPER TROUGH WILL OVERSPREAD THE AREA ON FRI WITH SUSTAINED SWLY
WINDS OF 15-20 MPH LIKELY. RH LEVELS WILL LIKELY NOT BE CRITICALLY
LOW DUE TO COOLER TEMPERATURES...MAINLY IN THE 20 PERCENT RANGE.

   ...SRN AND ERN WY...WRN SD/NEB...
A LOW PRESSURE TROUGH WILL DEEPEN DURING THE DAY OVER ERN MT INTO
WY...AS THE UPPER RIDGE BEGINS TO FLATTEN. SWLY WINDS OF 15-20 MPH
WILL BE LIKELY OVER SRN AND ERN WY...WITH SELY WINDS OF 15-20 MPH
OVER WRN SD/NEB. RH LEVELS WILL BE EXTREMELY LOW...FROM THE LOWER
TEENS INTO THE UPPER SINGLE DIGITS. THE LACK OF STRONG SUSTAINED
WINDS WILL LIKELY KEEP THE THREAT SUB-CRITICAL.
