   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0304 AM CDT FRI OCT 31 2008

   VALID 311200Z - 011200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER SHORTWAVE EMBEDDED WITHIN A LARGER SCALE TROUGH WILL EJECT
NEWD FROM CA INTO THE PACIFIC NW WITH RAIN AND WIND. MEANWHILE...THE
UPPER RIDGE AXIS WILL SHIFT EWD INTO THE HIGH PLAINS...WHERE VERY
WARM AND DRY WEATHER WILL PREVAIL. SWLY WINDS WILL INCREASE FROM THE
GREAT BASIN NEWD INTO THE CNTRL AND NRN HIGH PLAINS...WITH THE
DRIEST AIR OVER WY AND CO.

TO THE E...A LARGE AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL COVER MUCH OF THE SERN
U.S. WITH VERY DRY AND MILD CONDITIONS.

   ...SERN AND MID ATLANTIC STATES...
VERY DRY WEATHER WILL PREVAIL UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF STRONG HIGH
PRESSURE. WIDESPREAD MIN RH IN THE 20 PERCENT RANGE WILL BE COMMON
FROM THE LOWER MS RIVER VALLEY EWD INTO THE MID ATLANTIC. A FEW
AREAS FROM GA INTO NC MAY SEE UPPER TEEN RH. ALTHOUGH VERY
DRY...WINDS WILL BE LIGHT MOST PLACES...THE EXCEPTION BEING THE FL
PENINSULA WHERE NELY WINDS OF 10-15 MPH WILL OCCUR. HOWEVER...RH
LEVELS THERE WILL HIGHER DUE TO TRAJECTORIES OFF THE ATLANTIC.
STILL...MARGINAL CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED ESPECIALLY
OVER GA AND NRN FL INCLUDING THE PANHANDLE.

   ...SRN AND ERN WY...NRN CO...WRN SD/NEB...
AN UPPER SHORTWAVE WILL BREAK DOWN THE RIDGE OVER ID/WY/MT LATE IN
THE DAY AND WILL HELP TO DEEPEN A SURFACE LOW PRESSURE TROUGH OVER
CNTRL MT INTO WY. STRONG MIXING AND DAYTIME HEATING WILL HELP WINDS
INCREASE TO 15-20 MPH. RH WILL BE VERY LOW ESPECIALLY WITHIN THE
TROUGH WITH VALUES OF 10-15 PERCENT AT PEAK HEATING.

   ...GREAT BASIN...
SW WINDS WILL INCREASE TO NEAR 20 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS UNDER THE
UPPER TROUGH. ALTHOUGH WINDY...MOISTURE LEVELS WILL BE UP AND MIN RH
WILL ONLY DROP INTO 20-30 PERCENT RANGE.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0304 AM CDT FRI OCT 31 2008

   VALID 011200Z - 021200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
THE UPPER RIDGE OVER THE CNTRL U.S. WILL FLATTEN AS AN UPPER TROUGH
MOVES E ACROSS THE NRN PLAINS. A VERY WARM AND DRY AIR MASS WILL
REMAIN OVER AZ/NM AS WELL AS THE SRN HIGH PLAINS UNDER THE RIDGE. TO
THE E...DRY HIGH PRESSURE WILL RESULT IN LOW RH OVER THE SERN STATES
   AGAIN WITH LIGHT WINDS.

   ...ERN NM...SERN CO...WRN OK/TX PANHANDLES...
A WEAK LOW PRESSURE TROUGH WILL FORM DURING THE DAY AS THE RIDGE
FLATTENS. SLY WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 15-20 MPH WITH MIN RH OF 15-20
PERCENT. THE COMBINATION OF GUSTY WINDS AND LOW RH MAY POSE A
MARGINAL FIRE THREAT GIVEN SEVERAL WEEKS OF DRY WEATHER.

   ...SERN STATES...
HIGH PRESSURE WILL REMAIN OVER THE AREA WITH MAINLY LIGHT WINDS AND
LOW RH IN THE 20 PERCENT RANGE. SLIGHTLY STRONGER WINDS OF 10-15 MPH
OUT OF THE E WILL OCCUR OVER FL BUT RH VALUES WILL BE HIGHER THERE.
