   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0110 AM CST WED NOV 05 2008

   VALID 051200Z - 061200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR NERN NM / TX PANHANDLE / WRN OK...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A STRONG UPPER TROUGH EXTENDING THROUGH THE ERN GREAT BASIN THIS
MORNING WILL MOVE EWD OVER THE ROCKY MOUNTAINS...THEN BECOME CLOSED
OFF OVER THE CENTRAL HIGH PLAINS BY THIS EVENING. A STRONG JET MAX
WILL ROTATE AROUND THE BASE OF THE TROUGH...ALLOWING GUSTY WINDS TO
REACH THE SURFACE ACROSS DRY AREAS IN NERN NM...THE TX
PANHANDLE...AND WRN OK. AS A COLD FRONT SWEEPS THROUGH SERN CO THIS
MORNING THEN SWD AND EWD INTO THESE AREAS...WINDS WILL INCREASE AND
SHIFT TO WLY THEN NWLY BY EVENING FOLLOWING THE FRONTAL PASSAGE.

ELSEWHERE ACROSS THE PLAINS...STRONG AND GUSTY WINDS WILL AFFECT A
WIDESPREAD AREA...ALTHOUGH IN GENERAL RELATIVE HUMIDITIES WILL
REMAIN ABOVE CRITICAL THRESHOLDS...ESPECIALLY IN AREAS WHERE
WIDESPREAD PRECIPITATION WILL DOMINATE IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE
   SYSTEM.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - NERN NM / TX PANHANDLE / WRN OK...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS / LOW RH / DRY CONDITIONS

A COLD FRONT IN CO THIS MORNING WILL MOVE SWD AND EWD ACROSS NERN
NM...THE TX PANHANDLE...AND WRN OK THROUGH THE DAY. WINDS WILL
INITIALLY BE SWLY AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT...AND BEHIND A DRYLINE IN
WRN OK. AS THE COLD FRONT APPROACHES...WINDS WILL INCREASE AND SHIFT
TO WLY...THEN NWLY FOLLOWING THE FRONTAL PASSAGE...POSING A THREAT
   TO ANY ONGOING FIRES.

RELATIVE HUMIDITIES IN THE LOWER 20S TO UPPER TEENS CAN BE EXPECTED
DESPITE RELATIVELY COOL TEMPERATURES. SUSTAINED WINDS NEAR 25 TO 40
MPH WILL BE LIKELY...WHILE WARMING TEMPERATURES WILL ALLOW STRONGER
JET WINDS NEAR 50 TO 60 MPH TO MIX TO THE SURFACE.

MPE PRECIPITATION ANALYSIS SHOWS LITTLE TO NO PRECIPITATION HAS
FALLEN IN THESE AREAS OVER THE PAST TWO WEEKS...AND LOCALIZED AREAS
   OF DRY FUELS ARE PROBABLE.

CONDITIONS WILL QUICKLY IMPROVE BY EVENING AS TEMPERATURES RAPIDLY
COOL AND RELATIVE HUMIDITIES RISE. FURTHERMORE...THE BOUNDARY LAYER
WILL BECOME VERY SHALLOW...LIMITING THE SEVERITY OF WINDS THAT WILL
   REACH THE SURFACE.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0239 AM CST WED NOV 05 2008

   VALID 061200Z - 071200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER TROUGH WILL SLOWLY MOVE EWD ACROSS THE HIGH PLAINS TOWARDS
THE WRN GREAT LAKES REGION. AT THE SURFACE...A COLD FRONT WILL
EXTEND SWD FROM A SURFACE LOW CENTERED INVOF CNTRL MN THROUGH THE
MISSISSIPPI VALLEY AND WSWWD THROUGH ERN TX...WITH SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS A WIDESPREAD AREA. STRONG WINDS AND HEAVY SNOW
WILL AFFECT THE NRN PLAINS AROUND THE BACKSIDE OF THE LOW.

MEANWHILE IN THE WEST...UPPER HIGH PRESSURE WILL BEGIN TO
AMPLIFY...AND TEMPERATURES AT THE SURFACE WILL BE WARMER THAN D1 IN
RESPONSE TO DRIER AIR AND SUBSIDENCE ALOFT. SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE
WILL BUILD SEWD ACROSS THE ERN GREAT BASIN. IN SRN CA...OFFSHORE
FLOW WILL RETURN...CREATING DRY AND LOCALLY WINDY CONDITIONS ON THE
WRN SLOPES OF THE COASTAL MOUNTAINS.

   ...COASTAL AREAS OF SRN CA...
OFFSHORE FLOW WILL RETURN TO SRN CA AS SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS
SEWD ACROSS THE ERN GREAT BASIN AND HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT AMPLIFIES
OVER THE COASTAL STATES. ALTHOUGH THE UPPER WINDS WILL BE SOMEWHAT
MARGINAL...THE PRESSURE GRADIENT IN LOWER LEVELS MAY BE CONDUCIVE TO
LOCALLY GUSTY WINDS ALONG THE WRN SLOPES OF THE COASTAL MOUNTAINS IN
SRN CA. LITTLE RAINFALL WAS RECEIVED WITH THE LAST SYSTEM...AND
THEREFORE FUELS REMAIN DRY AT THIS TIME. RELATIVE HUMIDITIES ARE
EXPECTED TO BE IN THE TEENS AND SINGLE DIGITS AS ABOVE NORMAL
TEMPERATURES COMMENCE IN THE DOWNSLOPING FLOW. LITTLE RH RECOVERY
CAN BE EXPECTED OVERNIGHT...AND WINDS WILL GENERALLY INCREASE INTO
   FRI MORNING.
