   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0338 AM CST MON DEC 01 2008

   VALID 011200Z - 021200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR PARTS OF S-CENTRAL AND SERN TX...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A LARGE SCALE UPPER TROUGH WILL SHIFT SLOWLY EWD OVER THE ERN CONUS.

FURTHER W...A SHORTWAVE TROUGH WILL MOVE EWD OVER THE PACIFIC NW AS
AN UPPER RIDGE BREAKS DOWN. AT THE SURFACE A DRIER...COOLER AIRMASS
WILL MOVE OVER PARTS OF THE SERN U.S. MODERATE SUSTAINED WINDS
AROUND 15 MPH AND MARGINALLY LOW RH MAY OCCUR OVER PARTS OF NRN FL.
A BELT OF MODERATELY STRONG WINDS WILL LIKELY OCCUR AGAIN OVER PARTS
OF S-CENTRAL AND PARTS OF SE TX.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - PARTS OF S-CENTRAL AND SERN TX...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS...LOW RH...HIGH KBDI

ACCORDING TO THE LATEST SREF MODEL OUTPUT...STRONG SUSTAINED NWLY
WINDS AROUND 20-25 MPH WILL PROBABLY OCCUR OVER PARTS OF TX FOR A
SEVERAL HOUR PERIOD. HOWEVER...THE SURFACE PRESSURE GRADIENT IS
EXPECTED TO WEAKEN WITH TIME AND BE IN SUB-CRITICAL CRITERIA WINDS
BY LATE AFTERNOON. DESPITE RELATIVELY COOL MAX TEMPS NEAR OR JUST
ABOVE 60 F DEG...FORECAST SOUNDINGS INDICATE SUFFICIENT LOW LEVEL
MIXING WILL OCCUR OWING TO STEEP LOW LEVEL LAPSE RATES. THIS WILL
RESULT IN RH VALUES FALLING INTO THE 20S WITH TEENS IN THE SW PART
OF THE HIGHLIGHTED AREA. COUPLED WITH LONG TERM DRYNESS
   RAINFALL...FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS APPEAR POSSIBLE.

   ...PARTS OF NRN FL PENINSULA...
A POST-FRONTAL DRY AIRMASS WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE INTO THE REGION
DURING THE DAYTIME HOURS. DESPITE A WEAKENING SURFACE PRESSURE
GRADIENT WITH TIME...MODERATELY STRONG WINDS AROUND 15 MPH WITH
HIGHER GUSTS ARE FORECAST TO DEVELOP. SEVERAL LIMITING FACTORS ARE
THE RELATIVELY COOL MAX TEMPS /LOWER 60S F DEG/ AND MARGINAL RH
AROUND 30 PERCENT. ADDITIONAL CONCERNS OVER YESTERDAYS RAINFALL
   PRECLUDE A CRITICAL AREA ATTM.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0400 AM CST MON DEC 01 2008

   VALID 021200Z - 031200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR PARTS OF CENTRAL TX...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A LARGE SCALE TROUGH WILL MOVE EWD OVER THE E COAST INTO THE WRN
ATLANTIC AS ANOTHER UPPER DISTURBANCE MOVES OVER THE INTERMOUNTAIN
WEST REGION DURING THE PERIOD. AT THE SURFACE...A LOW WILL DEVELOP
IN THE VICINITY OF THE CENTRAL HIGH PLAINS WITH A TROUGH EXTENDING
SWD INTO THE SRN HIGH PLAINS. A DRY AIRMASS WILL LIKELY BE IN PLACE
ACROSS PARTS OF TX AND THE SERN STATES. STRONG WINDS AND LOW RH
APPEAR LIKELY ACROSS A LARGE PART OF CENTRAL TX.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - PARTS OF CENTRAL TX...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS / LOW RH

STRONG SLY-SWLY WINDS WILL LIKELY DEVELOP IN RESPONSE TO A
STRENGTHENING SURFACE PRESSURE GRADIENT. A DRY POST-FRONTAL AIRMASS
WILL WARM QUICKLY DURING THE DAYTIME HOURS. MEANWHILE...A 60 KT
500MB SPEED MAX WILL APPROACH THE REGION FROM THE SRN ROCKIES.
STRENGTHENING LOW TO MID-LEVEL WIND FIELDS WILL RESULT IN STRONG
SUSTAINED WINDS /20-30 MPH/ WITH HIGHER GUSTS. FORECAST SOUNDINGS
INDICATE RH MAY FALL WELL INTO THE TEENS...ESPECIALLY ACROSS THE
PECOS RIVER VALLEY WITH MORE TEMPERED VALUES WITH FURTHER E EXTENT.

   ...NRN FL PENINSULA...
WITH DRY CONTINENTAL NWLY LOW LEVEL TRAJECTORIES PREVAILING DURING
THE PERIOD...RH WILL LIKELY DROP INTO THE 30S AND POSSIBLY THE 20S
OVER PARTS OF NRN FL. LATEST ENSEMBLE GUIDANCE SUGGESTS WINDS WILL
GENERALLY REMAIN BELOW 15 MPH...PRECLUDING A CRITICAL DESIGNATION.
