   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0236 AM CST MON JAN 12 2009

   VALID 121200Z - 131200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR PORTIONS OF SRN CA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A STRONG UPPER RIDGE WILL HOLD OVER THE ERN PACIFIC AND W
COAST...WITH SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE CENTERED OVER NV. THIS WILL
MAINTAIN STRONG OFFSHORE WINDS ACROSS SRN CA...WITH LOCALLY CRITICAL
FIRE CONDITIONS. TO THE E...A BROAD UPPER TROUGH WILL COVER MOST OF
THE CNTRL AND ERN U.S...WITH RELATIVELY COOL WEATHER. A COLD FRONT
WILL BRING SHIFTING WINDS TO THE SRN PLAINS...WHERE MILD BUT DRY
WEATHER WILL EXIST WITH HIGH PRESSURE. THIS SAME TYPE OF AIR MASS
WILL EXTEND EWD ACROSS THE GULF COAST WITH LOW RH INTO NRN FL AS
   WELL BUT LIGHT WINDS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - PORTIONS OF SRN CA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG OFFSHORE WINDS AND LOW RH

STRONG OFFSHORE WINDS WILL BE ONGOING MONDAY MORNING ESPECIALLY
THROUGH PASSES AND CANYONS WITH GUSTS OF 50-60 MPH LIKELY. RH WILL
BEGIN THE DAY RATHER LOW AND WILL DECREASE FURTHER INTO THE SINGLE
DIGITS AS TEMPERATURES WARM INTO THE UPPER 70S TO MID 80S F. STRONG
GUSTY WINDS WILL PERSIST ALL DAY AND WILL LINGER INTO TUESDAY
   MORNING WITH POOR RH RECOVERY.

   ...OK INTO NRN TX...
A PRE FRONTAL TROUGH AND COLD FRONT WILL MOVE SWD ACROSS CNTRL OK
INTO NW TX LATER TODAY. AHEAD OF THE FRONT...TEMPERATURES WILL WARM
INTO THE 50S AND 60S WITH MIN RH OF 15-25 PERCENT. WINDS WILL
AVERAGE NEAR 15 MPH OUT OF THE SW AHEAD OF THE FRONT...BUT WILL
SHIFT RAPIDLY TO NW AT 20-25 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS AS THE FRONT
MOVES THROUGH. GIVEN RELATIVELY DRY FUELS ACROSS THE REGION...THIS
WILL LIKELY RESULT IN A MARGINALLY CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER DAY.

   ...SERN STATES...
HIGH PRESSURE WILL EXTEND FROM THE MID ATLANTIC COAST SWWD ALONG THE
GULF COAST RESULTING IN RELATIVELY COOL BUT DRY WEATHER. MIN RH WILL
DIP INTO THE 25-35 PERCENT RANGE ACROSS AL/THE FL PANHANDLE AND
PORTIONS OF GA...BUT WINDS WILL BE RATHER WEAK.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0236 AM CST MON JAN 12 2009

   VALID 131200Z - 141200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR PORTIONS OF SRN CA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER RIDGE WILL REMAIN ALONG THE W COAST OF THE U.S. WITH HIGH
PRESSURE CENTERED OVER NV AS WELL AS OVER TX. AS A RESULT...DRY
OFFSHORE WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY WILL PERSIST OVER SRN CA...WITH VERY
DRY CONDITIONS FOR TX AS WELL. HIGH PRESSURE WILL EXTEND EWD ALONG
THE GULF COAST AS WELL...WITH AREAS OF LOW RH AND INCREASED NWLY
WINDS AS A LOW PRESSURE TROUGH DEEPENS OFF THE ATLANTIC COAST.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - PORTIONS OF SRN CA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: CONTINUED OFFSHORE WINDS AND LOW RH

A STRONG PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL REMAIN FROM SRN NV INTO SRN CA
CREATING STRONG WIND GUSTS OVER LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTIES. RH
WILL DROP INTO THE TEENS AND SINGLE DIGITS DURING THE DAYTIME WITH
WINDS RELAXING A BIT BUT STILL REMAINING STRONG AROUND PASSES AND
CANYONS. WINDS MAY THEN INCREASE AGAIN INTO WED MORNING WITH A
   DIURNAL PRESSURE GRADIENT INCREASE.

...CNTRL AND SRN TX INCLUDING THE MID TX COAST...
IT WILL BE MILD AND VERY DRY ON TUESDAY AS ANOTHER AREA OF HIGH
PRESSURE MOVES IN. MIN RH WILL DIP INTO THE MID TEENS OVER CNTRL
TX...WITH VALUES OF 20-25 PERCENT ALONG THE COAST. THE FIRE THREAT
WILL BE FURTHER ENHANCED BY NWLY WINDS NEAR 15 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS
FOR NEAR CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS FOR A FEW HOURS DURING THE
   AFTERNOON.

   ...SRN GA INTO NRN FL...
NWLY WINDS NEAR 15 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS WILL EXIST TUE AS HIGH
PRESSURE BUILDS IN BEHIND A LOW PRESSURE TROUGH. TEMPERATURES WILL
BE RELATIVELY COOL AND NEAR 60 F FOR A HIGH...AND RH WILL LIKELY
DROP INTO THE 30 PERCENT RANGE. DESPITE MARGINAL RH VALUES...THE
WINDS MAY ENHANCE THE FIRE THREAT AS FUELS ACROSS FL ARE QUITE DRY.
