   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0316 AM CST THU JAN 22 2009

   VALID 221200Z - 231200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A RIDGE AXIS OVER THE WESTERN CONUS WILL BREAK DOWN DURING THE NEXT
24 HOURS AS A TROUGH ENTERS CA. FARTHER EAST...A SURFACE TROUGH WILL
DEVELOP OVER THE CNTRL/SRN PLAINS BENEATH STRENGTHENING MID LVL
WESTERLY FLOW. THIS WILL FAVOR ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND LOW RH
VALUES OVER TX AND OK. MEANWHILE...HIGH PRESSURE AND RELATIVELY DRY
CONDITIONS WILL REMAIN CENTERED OVER FL AS A WEAK UPR LVL TROUGH
   EXITS INTO THE ATLANTIC.

...PORTIONS OF CNTRL/W TX EXTENDING INTO CNTRL OK...
A WEAK AREA OF LOW PRESSURE IS FORECAST TO DEVELOP OVER NWRN TX
DURING THURSDAY AFTERNOON...WITH A SURFACE TROUGH TRAILING SOUTHWEST
INTO WRN/SWRN TX...AND EXTENDING NORTHEAST THROUGH OK. A
WARM...DRY...WELL MIXED BOUNDARY LAYER IS EXPECTED TO MATERIALIZE
WITHIN THE TROUGH AXIS...WITH SUSTAINED WINDS AROUND 15 MPH.
HOWEVER...THE WELL MIXED PBL WILL PROMOTE MIXING OF SLIGHTLY
STRONGER FLOW ALOFT DOWN TO THE SURFACE...RESULTING IN GUSTY WINDS
JUXTAPOSED WITH DRY SURFACE CONDITIONS. FARTHER NORTHEAST TOWARDS
CNTRL OK...WARM TEMPERATURES AND GUSTY WINDS ARE ALSO EXPECTED
DURING THE AFTERNOON...THOUGH RH VALUES WILL BE SLIGHTLY HIGHER
COMPARED TO TX. THIS WILL RESULT IN ELEVATED FIRE CONDITIONS ACROSS
PORTIONS OF THE SRN PLAINS...THOUGH A CRITICAL IS NOT WARRANTED DUE
TO THE UNFAVORABLE COLLOCATION OF INGREDIENTS.

   ...FLORIDA...
RH VALUES WILL DROP INTO THE 20S DURING THURSDAY AFTERNOON.
HOWEVER...LOW LVL FLOW WILL BE QUITE WEAK DUE TO THE CLOSE PROXIMITY
OF AN AREA OF SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE. THEREFORE CRITICAL OUTLOOK
   CONDITIONS WILL NOT BE MET.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0318 AM CST THU JAN 22 2009

   VALID 231200Z - 241200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
SHORTWAVE RIDGING IS FORECAST TO TAKE PLACE OVER THE GREAT BASIN ON
D2 AHEAD OF AN UPR LVL TROUGH APPROACHING THE CA COAST. AT THE SAME
TIME...AN UPR DISTURBANCE WILL PIVOT SOUTH AND EAST TOWARD THE GREAT
LAKES REGION. THESE TWO SYSTEMS WILL ENHANCE UPR LVL CONVERGENCE
ACROSS THE CENTRAL CONUS...RESULTING IN STRENGTHENING SURFACE HIGH
PRESSURE. NORTHERLY LOW LVL FLOW WILL INCREASE AS THIS TAKES
PLACE...SENDING ANOTHER SHOT OF COLDER AIR SOUTH INTO THE GREAT
PLAINS. CLOSER TO THE GULF...WARM SOUTHERLY FLOW WILL PREVAIL AHEAD
OF AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVER CNTRL TX. RECOVERING RH VALUES AND
GENERALLY WEAK SURFACE WINDS FROM TX EASTWARD TO FL WILL PRECLUDE
   CRITICAL OUTLOOK CONDITIONS ON D2.
