   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0335 AM CST THU JAN 29 2009

   VALID 291200Z - 301200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A LARGE UPPER TROUGH WILL COVER MOST OF THE CNTRL AND ERN STATES
WITH A RIDGE OVER THE WRN STATES. HIGH PRESSURE WILL EXTEND FROM THE
GREAT BASIN EWD INTO THE PLAINS...SPREADING EWD ACROSS THE GULF
COAST AND MID ATLANTIC IN THE WAKE OF A COLD FRONT. STRONG OFFSHORE
WINDS WILL OCCUR OVER SRN CA...WITH DRY CONDITIONS ACROSS TX AS
   WELL.

   ...SRN CA...
STRONG AND GUSTY WINDS WILL BE ONGOING THU MORNING AND WILL PERSIST
THROUGH THE PERIOD ALONG THE SRN CA COASTAL RANGE DUE TO A TIGHT
SURFACE PRESSURE GRADIENT AND FAVORABLY ALIGNED MID LEVEL WINDS.
LOCAL GUSTS OF 40-60 MPH ARE LIKELY IN THE WINDIEST LOCALES.
TEMPERATURES WILL AVERAGE IN THE MID TO UPPER 70S FOR HIGHS WITH MIN
RH IN THE 10-15 PERCENT RANGE. ALTHOUGH VERY WINDY AND DRY...FUEL
CONDITIONS APPEAR TOO MOIST AS A RESULT OF RECENT PRECIPITATION FOR
ANY LARGE SCALE CRITICAL FIRE THREAT.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0335 AM CST THU JAN 29 2009

   VALID 301200Z - 311200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER TROUGH WILL AMPLIFY ACROSS THE ERN U.S...HELPING TO PUSH
COOL DRY AIR SWD ACROSS THE GULF COAST REGION. MEANWHILE...ANOTHER
AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL REMAIN CENTERED OVER NRN NV...WITH
OFFSHORE FLOW AND LOW RH PERSISTING OVER SRN CA.

   ...NRN FL...SRN GA...SC...
HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD INTO THE REGION RESULTING IN SEVERAL HOURS
OF LOW RH AND MODERATE NLY WINDS. HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE FORECAST TO
RANGE FROM 55-60 F...BUT RH WILL STILL DROP INTO THE 20 PERCENT
RANGE. IN ADDITION...NWLY WINDS NEAR 15 MPH WILL BE LIKELY...WITH
HIGHER GUSTS POSSIBLE. THE GREATEST FIRE DANGER WILL BE OVER NRN AND
CNTRL FL...WHERE KBDI VALUES ARE THE HIGHEST. FARTHER N INTO GA AND
SC...FUEL CONDITIONS ARE NOT AS FAVORABLE. THE RELATIVELY COOL
TEMPERATURES AND AREAS OF PRECIPITATION EXPECTED ON THU WILL HELP
   MITIGATE THE THREAT.

   ...SRN CA...
A MODERATE PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL REMAIN FRI MORNING BUT WINDS ALOFT
WILL DECREASE WITH TIME. GUSTY WINDS WILL BE LIKELY ESPECIALLY
THROUGH PASSES AND CANYONS WITH A CONTINUATION OF MILD AND DRY
CONDITIONS. FUEL CONDITIONS WILL LIKELY REMAIN A MITIGATING
FACTOR...HELPING TO QUELL LARGE FIRE POTENTIAL.
