   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0215 AM CST TUE FEB 03 2009

   VALID 031200Z - 041200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR NRN AND CENTRAL FL...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AN AMPLIFIED UPR AIR PATTERN CHARACTERIZED BY A RIDGE OVER THE
WESTERN CONUS AND TROUGH IN THE EAST WILL CHANGE LITTLE THROUGH THE
D1 PERIOD. A SHORTWAVE TROUGH LOCATED OVER THE SOUTHEAST TUESDAY
MORNING WILL ROTATE NORTHEAST ALONG THE ATLANTIC COAST DURING THE
AFTERNOON...WITH AN ASSOCIATED SURFACE LOW AND TRAILING COLD FRONT
POSITIONED OFFSHORE. MEANWHILE...HIGH PRESSURE OVER TX WILL SHIFT SE
INTO THE GULF OF MEXICO...PLACING MUCH OF FL WITHIN A DRY AND BREEZY
   POST FRONTAL AIRMASS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - NRN AND CENTRAL FL...

   PRIMARY CONDITIONS: LOW RH...WIND...DEVELOPING DROUGHT

A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE WELL OFFSHORE OF FL DURING TUESDAY
MORNING...WITH NORTHWESTERLY SURFACE WINDS OF 15 TO 20 MPH
DEVELOPING ACROSS MUCH OF THE STATE. RH VALUES ARE EXPECTED TO DROP
INTO THE 20S DURING THE AFTERNOON...WITH SLIGHTLY HIGHER VALUES /30
TO 50 PERCENT/ OVER THE EXTREME WESTERN AND SOUTHERN PENINSULA
COASTLINE. THOUGH SCATTERED SHOWERS OCCURRED ACROSS THE STATE ON
MONDAY...VOLATILE AND QUICK RESPONDING FUELS COMBINED WITH THE
DRY/WINDY CONDITIONS WILL PROMOTE A HIGH FIRE DANGER.

   ...SRN GA AND AL...
DAYTIME HIGHS OVER SRN AL AND GA ARE FORECAST TO BE IN THE MID TO
UPPER 50S...RESULTING IN A MORE MARGINAL THREAT OF WIDESPREAD
CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS. HOWEVER...A LONG DURATION OF LOW
RH VALUES /BETWEEN 20 AND 30 PERCENT/ ALONG WITH BREEZY WINDS WILL
RESULT IN AN ELEVATED FIRE DANGER.

   ...S CENTRAL TX...
WARM TEMPERATURES AND RH VALUES IN THE LOWER TEENS ARE EXPECTED TO
DEVELOP AS WEAK HIGH PRESSURE SAGS SOUTHEAST INTO THE GULF OF
MEXICO. LOW LEVEL FLOW NORTHWEST OF THE HIGH IS FORECAST TO BE
   WEAK...PRECLUDING A CRITICAL OUTLOOK AREA. HOWEVER...CONTINUED
EXTREME DROUGHT CONDITIONS COMBINED WITH THE LOW RH WILL RESULT IN
AN ELEVATED FIRE THREAT. THIS THREAT WILL BE FURTHER ENHANCED BY THE
POSSIBILITY OF SHIFTING WINDS FROM SW TO N AS A COLD FRONT DROPS
SOUTH INTO THE REGION DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON.

   ...PORTIONS OF SRN CA...
A VERY WARM AND DRY AIRMASS /RH VALUES FALLING INTO THE SINGLE
DIGITS/ WILL RESIDE ACROSS PORTIONS OF SRN CA. HOWEVER...RELATIVELY
WEAK SUSTAINED WINDS ALONG WITH RECENT RAINFALL WILL PRECLUDE A
   CRITICAL OUTLOOK AT THIS TIME.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0215 AM CST TUE FEB 03 2009

   VALID 041200Z - 051200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH WILL SLOWLY SHIFT EAST ACROSS THE ATLANTIC
COAST...ALLOWING SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE TO BUILD SOUTHEAST INTO THE
MID MS VALLEY REGION. THIS WILL RESULT IN COOL DAYTIME HIGHS ACROSS
THE SOUTHEASTERN CONUS...WITH BREEZY AND DRY CONDITIONS PERSISTING.

   ...FLORIDA...
LOW RH VALUES IN THE 20S ALONG WITH BREEZY/GUSTY WINDS WILL CONTINUE
TO RESIDE ACROSS MUCH OF FL ON D2. HOWEVER...LOW LEVEL COLD AIR
ADVECTION OVER THE REGION WILL RESULT IN RELATIVELY COOL DAYTIME
HIGHS /40S AND 50S/...PRECLUDING A CRITICAL OUTLOOK AREA.

   ...PORTIONS OF SRN CA...
ANOTHER DAY OF WARM TEMPERATURES AND VERY LOW RH VALUES ARE EXPECTED
OVER PORTIONS OF SRN CA ON D2. THOUGH GUSTS MAY APPROACH 30 MPH
WITHIN FAVORED CANYONS AND PASSES...MARGINAL SUSTAINED WINDS ALONG
WITH RECENT RAINFALL WILL PREVENT WIDESPREAD FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
   FROM MATERIALIZING.
