   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0201 AM CST MON FEB 16 2009

   VALID 161200Z - 171200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR MUCH OF FL...EXTREME SRN GA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD INTO THE SERN/ERN U.S. BEHIND AN UPPER
TROUGH AND DEEPENING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OFF THE ATLANTIC COAST. DRY
NLY WINDS WILL CREATE CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS FOR FL THIS
   AFTERNOON.

TO THE W...A LARGE UPPER LOW/TROUGH WILL BRING SIGNIFICANT
PRECIPITATION TO CA...SPREADING INTO THE GREAT BASIN OVERNIGHT. SWLY
FLOW ALOFT ACROSS THE CNTRL AND SRN PLAINS WILL HELP TO CREATE LEE
TROUGHING DURING THE AFTERNOON...WITH A TIGHT PRESSURE GRADIENT
RESULTING IN STRONG SWLY WINDS FROM NM INTO KS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - MUCH OF FL...EXTREME SRN GA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: LOW RH COMBINED WITH NLY WINDS AND DROUGHT

DRY AIR WILL FILTER SWD AS HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS. NLY WINDS NEAR 15
MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS WILL COMBINE WITH MIN RH LEVELS RANGING FROM
20 PERCENT NRN FL TO 35 PERCENT SOUTH CNTRL FL AS WELL AS ONGOING
DROUGHT CONDITIONS TO CREATE FAVORABLE FIRE CONDITIONS THIS
AFTERNOON. ALTHOUGH SOME PRECIPITATION FELL ACROSS THE WRN FL
PANHANDLE RECENTLY...AMOUNTS OVER THE REST OF FL WERE QUITE LIGHT
AND THUS FUELS WILL REMAIN DRY.

   ...ERN NM...OK/TX PANHANDLES...SWRN KS/SERN CO...
SW WINDS WILL QUICKLY INCREASE TO 20-30 MPH ACROSS THE REGION IN
RESPONSE TO LOWERING SURFACE PRESSURE OVER ERN CO/NM AND HIGH
PRESSURE TO THE E. RELATIVELY COOL TEMPERATURES IN THE 50S AND LOW
60S F SHOULD ONLY RESULT IN MODERATELY LOW MIN RH VALUES FROM 20-30
PERCENT FROM ERN NM INTO SWRN KS AND SERN CO. HIGHER VALUES OF 30-40
PERCENT ARE LIKELY OVER WRN OK AND MUCH OF NWRN TX. THIS MAY YIELD A
MARGINAL FIRE WEATHER SETUP DURING THE PEAK HEATING HOURS THIS
   AFTERNOON...QUICKLY DIMINISHING DURING THE EVENING.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0202 AM CST MON FEB 16 2009

   VALID 171200Z - 181200Z

...EXTREMELY CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR FAR ERN NM...TX/OK
PANHANDLES...EXTREME SERN CO AND SW KS...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR ERN NM...MUCH OF W TX...WRN
   OK...SERN CO...SWRN KS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER RIDGE OVER THE CNTRL U.S. WILL FLATTEN AND SHIFT EWD TO THE
MS VALLEY REGION ON TUE AS A LOW AMPLITUDE UPPER TROUGH MOVES ACROSS
THE FOUR CORNERS STATES. LOW PRESSURE WILL DEEPEN OVER KS...CREATING
VERY STRONG WINDS FOR THE SRN PLAINS.

...EXTREMELY CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - FAR ERN NM...TX/OK
PANHANDLES...EXTREME SERN CO AND SW KS...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: VERY STRONG WINDS AND LOW RH

A STRONG UPPER JET WILL MOVE OVERHEAD ON TUE...INDUCING LOW PRESSURE
TO FORM OVER KS AND CREATING EXTREMELY WINDY CONDITIONS. SWLY WINDS
OF 35-40 MPH APPEAR LIKELY WITH GUSTS OVER 50 MPH DURING THE
AFTERNOON. THE STRONG DOWNSLOPE COMPONENT TO THE WIND AS WELL AS
MIXING AND SUNSHINE WILL HELP DROP RH INTO THE 15-20 PERCENT RANGE
FROM ERN NM INTO THE TX/OK PANHANDLES. ALTHOUGH SOME RAIN FELL
RECENTLY...AREAS OF DRY FUELS REMAIN. EXTREMELY FAST MOVING FIRES
WILL BE POSSIBLE TUE AFTERNOON AND INTO THE EARLY EVENING BEFORE
   WINDS GRADUALLY DECREASE.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - ERN NM...MUCH OF W TX...WRN
   OK...SERN CO...SWRN KS...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS AND LOW RH

CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS DUE TO VERY STRONG WINDS AND LOW RH WILL
EXIST OVER A LARGE AREA FROM SERN CO AND SWRN KS SWD ACROSS ALL OF W
TX. VERY STRONG WINDS OF 30-40 MPH WITH GUSTS OVER 50 MPH WILL EXIST
ACROSS NERN NM INTO SERN CO AND SWRN KS...AS WELL AS WRN OK. THESE
AREAS...WHICH SURROUND THE EXTREMELY CRITICAL AREA...ARE LIKELY TO
EXPERIENCE RH VALUES A BIT ON THE MARGINAL SIDE DUE TO COOLER
TEMPERATURES (NRN NM AND SERN CO) OR HIGHER MOISTURE CONTENT (WRN OK
AND PORTIONS OF NW TX). GUSTY WINDS WILL PERSIST THROUGH THE EVENING
BUT TO A LESSER DEGREE...WITH RH RECOVERY BY LATE IN THE NIGHT.

   ...FL...
A DRY AIR MASS WILL REMAIN OVER THE ERN STATES WITH THE HIGH
PRESSURE CENTER SHIFTING OFF THE CAROLINA COAST. WINDS WILL TURN TO
ELY ACROSS THE FL PENINSULA...WITH SLIGHTLY HIGHER RH LEVELS
EXPECTED. SUSTAINED WINDS SHOULD NOT EXCEED 10 MPH OVER MOST OF THE
STATES...EXCEPT FOR FAR SRN FL WHERE 15 MPH WILL BE LIKELY BUT ALSO
   WITH HIGHER RH VALUES.
