   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0234 AM CST TUE MAR 03 2009

   VALID 031200Z - 041200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR ERN CO...NERN NM...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR CNTRL AND SRN FL...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A LARGE AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL COVER THE ERN HALF OF THE CONUS
AS AN UPPER TROUGH AXIS SHIFTS EWD OFF THE ATLANTIC COAST. VERY LOW
RH AND GUSTY NLY WINDS WILL CREATE CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS FOR
   CNTRL AND SRN FL.

MEANWHILE...AN UPPER RIDGE WILL EXIST OVER THE CNTRL U.S. WHERE
SIGNIFICANT WARMING WILL OCCUR. A MODERATELY STRONG PRESSURE
GRADIENT WILL CREATE GUSTY WINDS ACROSS THE SRN AND CNTRL PLAINS.
VERY LOW RH AND GUSTY WINDS WILL COMBINE TO CREATE CRITICAL FIRE
CONDITIONS FOR SERN CO AND NERN NM.

ELSEWHERE...A SLOW MOVING UPPER LOW/TROUGH WILL CREATE SIGNIFICANT
PRECIPITATION FROM NRN CA INTO THE PACIFIC NW.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - ERN CO...NERN NM...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: VERY LOW RH AND GUSTY WINDS

A LEE TROUGH WILL DEEPEN OVER THE CNTRL HIGH PLAINS THIS
AFTERNOON...HELPING TO ENHANCE THE SURFACE PRESSURE GRADIENT WITH
HIGH PRESSURE TO THE E. SWLY WINDS NEAR 20 MPH ARE LIKELY WITH A FEW
HIGHER GUSTS. TEMPERATURES WILL WARM INTO THE 70S...AND WILL COMBINE
WITH VERY LOW DEWPOINTS TO CREATE MIN RH VALUES IN THE SINGLE DIGITS
TO LOWER TEENS. IN ADDITION...LOW LEVEL LAPSE RATES WILL BE VERY
STEEP AND MIXING LAYERS DEEP...MAXIMIZING FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - CNTRL AND SRN FL...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: VERY LOW RH AND GUSTY WINDS

A VERY DRY AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL SPREAD SWD ACROSS FL AS AN
UPPER TROUGH EXITS THE E COAST. NLY WINDS NEAR 15 MPH WILL OCCUR
ALONG WITH MIN RH VALUES WELL INTO THE 20 PERCENT RANGE EXCEPT NEAR
THE E COAST WHERE VALUES IN THE 30S WILL OCCUR. IN ADDITION TO LOW
RH AND WINDS...RELATIVELY DEEP MIXING LAYERS WILL EXIST BY AFTERNOON
SUGGESTING AN UNSTABLE LOWER ATMOSPHERE DURING THE DAY.

   ...KS/OK/CNTRL TX...
WARM AND DRY SLY WINDS WILL MATERIALIZE TODAY WITH A STRONG PRESSURE
GRADIENT FROM TX NWD. SLY WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO AVERAGE 20-25 MPH
WITH HIGHER GUSTS. RH LEVELS FROM CNTRL TX INTO OK ARE EXPECTED TO
BE MARGINAL FROM 20-30 PERCENT WHERE WINDS ARE STRONGEST. AREAS SUCH
AS W CNTRL TX AS WELL AS FAR WRN OK WILL EXPERIENCE MARGINALLY
CRITICAL CONDITIONS FOR A FEW HOURS THIS AFTERNOON WITH RH OF 10-15
PERCENT AND SLY WINDS NEAR 20 MPH.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0235 AM CST TUE MAR 03 2009

   VALID 041200Z - 051200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SERN CO...ERN NM...NWRN TX...FAR
   WRN OK AND SWRN KS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER RIDGE WILL REMAIN OVER THE CNTRL U.S. WITH VERY WARM AND
WINDY CONDITIONS FOR THE SRN PLAINS. WINDS WILL ALSO INCREASE ACROSS
AZ INTO SRN UT AS AN UPPER TROUGH APPROACHES. ELSEWHERE...HIGH
PRESSURE WILL MAINTAIN DRY WEATHER OVER THE SERN STATES WITH MAINLY
   LIGHT WINDS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SERN CO...ERN NM...NWRN TX...FAR WRN
   OK AND SWRN KS...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS...LOW RH AND VERY WARM TEMPERATURES

IT WILL BE VERY WARM WINDY AND DRY ON WED WITH AN UPPER RIDGE AXIS
OVERHEAD. A LEE TROUGH WILL DEEPEN OVER ERN CO DURING THE AFTERNOON
WITH SWLY WINDS INCREASING TO 20-25 MPH ON AVERAGE WITH HIGHER
GUSTY. TEMPERATURES WILL RISE INTO THE 70S OVER CO TO THE 80S OVER
SERN NM...NWRN TX AND WRN OK. THE VERY WARM TEMPERATURES WILL HELP
RH LEVELS DROP INTO THE LOWER TEENS...CREATING POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS
FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS. WINDS WILL REMAIN GUSTY AFTER SUNSET WITH
   POOR RH RECOVERY.

   ...SERN STATES...
HIGH PRESSURE WILL SETTLE INTO THE SERN STATES AND MID ATLANTIC BY
AFTERNOON WITH A WEAKENING PRESSURE GRADIENT. FULL SUNSHINE AND LOW
DEWPOINTS WILL YIELD MIN RH IN THE TEENS FROM GA INTO THE
CAROLINAS...WITH VALUES INTO THE 20 PERCENT RANGE INTO NRN FL. ELY
FLOW OF 10-15 MPH WILL HELP INCREASE RH LEVELS OVER CNTRL AND SRN FL
TO GREATER THAN 30 PERCENT ON AVERAGE...BUT CLOSER TO 40-50 PERCENT
   ALONG THE E COAST.
