   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0212 AM CDT FRI APR 10 2009

   VALID 101200Z - 111200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD SWD ACROSS THE CNTRL AND SRN PLAINS IN THE
WAKE OF AN UPPER TROUGH THAT WILL TRANSLATE EWD ACROSS THE OH AND TN
VALLEYS WITH SIGNIFICANT PRECIPITATION AND SEVERE WEATHER. MUCH
COOLER CONDITIONS WILL THUS PREVAIL ACROSS OK AND TX.

TO THE W...A HIGHLY AMPLIFIED UPPER TROUGH WILL MOVE INTO SRN CA AND
AZ. A MARGINAL FIRE THREAT WILL EXIST ACROSS SRN/ERN AZ AND SW NM
DUE TO INCREASED WINDS AND MODERATELY LOW RH. THIS TROUGH WILL ALSO
BRING SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS MAINLY LATE EVENING AND OVERNIGHT.

   ...SRN AND SERN AZ...SWRN NM...
S WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 20-30 MPH AS AN UPPER TROUGH APPROACHES AND
LOW PRESSURE DEEPENS OVER NRN AZ. GIVEN THE MERIDIONAL NATURE OF THE
TROUGH...SOME INCREASE IN MOISTURE IS EXPECTED...AND MIN RH LEVELS
ARE NOT EXPECTED TO BE MUCH BELOW 15 PERCENT AREA-WIDE. IN
ADDITION...MID TO HIGH LEVEL CLOUDS MAY HAMPER HEATING...AND THERE
WILL BE A THREAT OF ISOLATED LATE AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS.
STILL...WIND GUSTS WILL BE LOCALLY QUITE STRONG AND WILL RESULT IN
   AN ELEVATED FIRE THREAT.

   ...OK INTO TX...
MUCH CALMER CONDITIONS ARE ANTICIPATED TODAY AS HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS
SWD BEHIND A COLD FRONT. TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM THE MID 60S F
OVER OK TO THE MID 80S F OVER DEEP S TX. SUSTAINED NLY WINDS NEAR 15
MPH ARE EXPECTED...WITH A FEW HIGHER GUSTS DURING THE AFTERNOON. MIN
RH VALUES SHOULD MAINLY BE IN THE 20 PERCENT RANGE LATE AFTERNOON.
SHALLOW INVERSION HEIGHTS DUE TO RELATIVELY COOL SURFACE
TEMPERATURES SHOULD HELP TO MINIMIZE AFTERNOON FIRE GROWTH
   POTENTIAL.

   LIGHT NLY WINDS.
