   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0400 AM CDT WED APR 15 2009

   VALID 151200Z - 161200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SERN AZ...SRN NM...SW TX...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER LOW WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE SLOWLY EWD INTO THE FOUR CORNERS
STATES. VERY STRONG WINDS WILL OVERSPREAD AZ AND NM WITH CRITICAL
FIRE CONDITIONS THERE. TO THE E...STRONG WINDS WILL ALSO MATERIALIZE
ACROSS THE PLAINS STATES DUE TO LOWERING PRESSURE OVER THE ROCKIES
AND A SURFACE HIGH OVER THE OH VALLEY. STRONG WINDS AND LOWERING RH
WILL ELEVATE FIRE POTENTIAL ACROSS PORTIONS OF MN AS WELL.
ELSEWHERE...HIGH PRESSURE WILL BRING DRIER CONDITIONS FOR THE SERN
   STATES.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SERN AZ...SRN NM...SW TX...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: HIGH WINDS AND LOW RH

VERY STRONG WINDS OF 30-40 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS WILL BE COMMON
TODAY AS AN INTENSE UPPER JET MOVES OVERHEAD. MIN RH WILL GENERALLY
DROP INTO THE 10-15 PERCENT RANGE WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE 70S.
A FEW 80S F ARE LIKELY OVER SE NM AND SW TX. GUSTY WINDS WILL
PERSIST OVERNIGHT...WITH AREAS OF POOR RH RECOVERY.

   ...CNTRL AND SRN FL...
HIGH PRESSURE WILL BRING MUCH DRIER CONDITIONS TO FL TODAY IN THE
WAKE OF YESTERDAYS COLD FRONT. AFTERNOON RH LEVELS SHOULD DIP INTO
THE 25-35 PERCENT RANGE WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES NEAR 80 F. ALTHOUGH
KBDI VALUES ARE QUITE HIGH...WEAK WINDS AOB 10 MPH AND RECENT HEAVY
PRECIPITATION WILL MITIGATE THE OVERALL THREAT.

   ...MN...
STRONG SELY WINDS OF 15-25 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS OVER WRN MN WILL
OCCUR AS THE PRESSURE GRADIENT TIGHTENS TODAY. A VERY DRY AIR MASS
DUE TO HIGH PRESSURE TO THE E WILL RESULT IN MIN RH LEVELS IN THE
TEENS AND TWENTIES THIS AFTERNOON WITH HIGHS IN THE 60S F. RECENT
DRYNESS IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS SUGGEST THAT LOCALLY CRITICAL
   CONDITIONS MAY OCCUR.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0427 AM CDT WED APR 15 2009

   VALID 161200Z - 171200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER LOW CENTERED OVER THE FOUR CORNERS WILL MOVE VERY SLOWLY
EWD INTO NM BY FRI MORNING. A LOW PRESSURE TROUGH AND COLD FRONT
WILL EXTEND FROM SE CO INTO ERN NM AND SW TX THU AFTERNOON...WITH
MUCH COOLER CONDITIONS TO THE W ALTHOUGH GUSTY WINDS WILL PREVAIL.
GUSTY WINDS WILL PERSIST ACROSS THE PLAINS INCLUDING THE UPPER MS
VALLEY WHERE RH WILL BE MODERATELY LOW. FINALLY...LOW RH WILL
PERSIST OVER FL DUE TO HIGH PRESSURE...WITH ELY WINDS OF 10-15 MPH.

   ...SERN NM AND W TX...
SWLY WINDS OF 15-25 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS ARE LIKELY JUST BEHIND A
COLD FRONT WHICH WILL EXTEND FROM SE CO INTO SW TX DURING THE
AFTERNOON. TEMPERATURES BEHIND THE FRONT WILL BE COOLER WITH HIGHS
ONLY IN THE 50S AND 60S F...BUT 70S TO NEAR 80 AHEAD OF THE FRONT
OVER W TX WHERE WINDS WILL BE GENERALLY LESS THAN 20 MPH.

   ...MN INTO WI...
VERY DRY CONDITIONS WILL PERSIST ESPECIALLY FOR WI WITH MIN RH OF
20-25 PERCENT LIKELY. WINDS WILL RANGE FROM 10-15 MPH OUT OF THE S
OVER WI TO NEAR 20 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS OVER WRN MN. THIS MAY
RESULT IN LOCALLY CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS WHERE THERE ARE AREAS OF
   DRYING FUELS.

   ...CNTRL AND SRN FL...
LONG TERM DROUGHT PERSISTS AND IT WILL BE DRY AGAIN ON THURSDAY DUE
TO HIGH PRESSURE. TEMPERATURES WARMING TO NEAR 80 F WILL RESULT IN
MIN RH GENERALLY IN THE 30 PERCENT RANGE...LOCALLY INTO THE 20S. IN
   ADDITION...ELY WINDS OF 10-15 MPH...STRONGEST NEAR THE E
COAST...WILL ENHANCE THE FIRE THREAT. STILL...RECENT PRECIPITATION
AND MARGINAL WINDS SHOULD KEEP THE THREAT MODEST.
