   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0234 AM CDT MON JUL 13 2009

   VALID 131200Z - 141200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR WRN UT...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR TX/OK PANHANDLES...FAR NWRN/N
   CNTRL OK...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A STRONG SHORT WAVE TROUGH AND ATTENDANT SURFACE COLD FRONT WILL
CONTINUE TO PROGRESS ACROSS THE NWRN STATES TOWARDS THE NRN PLAINS.
BREEZY CONDITIONS WILL LIKELY ALIGN WITH LOW RHS IN PORTIONS OF UT
   AND WY BY THE AFTERNOON.

MEANWHILE AS THE UPPER TROUGH PROGRESSES EWD...HIGH PRESSURE
LINGERING OVER THE SRN PLAINS WILL BEGIN TO FLATTEN ALLOWING ISOLD
DRY THUNDERSTORMS TO DEVELOP ALONG A QUASI-STATIONARY FRONT NEAR THE
KS/OK BORDERS. S OF THIS...HOT AND DRY CONDITIONS WILL ALIGN WITH
STRONG WINDS...CREATING AN ELEVATED FIRE THREAT ACROSS PORTIONS OF
   THE SRN HIGH PLAINS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - WRN UT...

   PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG/GUSTY WINDS...LOW RH

A WEAK/DRY COLD FRONT WILL PROGRESS THROUGH UT THROUGH THE DAY. WLY
POST-FRONTAL WINDS WITH SUSTAINED SPEEDS NEAR 20 TO 25 MPH CAN BE
ANTICIPATED. AS TEMPERATURES WARM INTO THE UPPER 80S/LOWER 90S AND
LOW LEVEL LAPSE RATES CONTINUE TO STEEPEN...STRONGER LOW/MID LEVEL
JET WINDS WILL MIX TO THE SURFACE...GUSTING TO NEAR 40 MPH AT TIMES.
RHS WILL WIDELY DROP INTO THE TEENS.

   ...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - TX/OK PANHANDLES...FAR NWRN/N CNTRL
   OK...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: ISOLD DRY THUNDERSTORMS/VERY HOT
   TEMPERATURES/LOW RH/STRONG WINDS

SIMILAR TO THE PAST FEW DAYS...VERY HOT TEMPERATURES WILL BE LIKELY
BY AFTERNOON...WITH HIGHS GENERALLY A0A 100 F AND RHS FALLING INTO
THE UPPER TEENS. SLY WINDS NEAR 20 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS WILL ONCE
AGAIN DEVELOP S OF A QUASI-STATIONARY FRONT NEAR THE OK/KS BORDERS.
BY LATE AFTERNOON...THE UPPER RIDGE WILL BEGIN TO FLATTEN/BREAK
DOWN...WHICH WILL SUPPORT ISOLD DRY THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT ALONG
THE FRONT. GIVEN RECENT/ONGOING FIRES...FUELS REMAIN VERY DRY AND
HIGHLY RECEPTIVE TO FIRE STARTS AT THIS TIME.

   ...WY...
STRONG POST-FRONTAL WLY WINDS NEAR 25 TO 30 MPH WILL AFFECT MUCH OF
WY BY THE AFTERNOON. AS TEMPERATURES WARM INTO TO THE UPPER 70S TO
MID 80S AND LOW LEVEL LAPSE RATES CONTINUE TO STEEPEN...STRONGER
GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH CAN BE EXPECTED AS STRONGER JET WINDS MIX TO THE
SURFACE. RHS IN THE UPPER TEENS WILL BE POSSIBLE IN CNTRL WY...WHILE
MARGINAL RHS CAN BE ANTICIPATED ELSEWHERE. ABOVE NORMAL 100/1000 HR
FUEL MOISTURE MAY TEMPER THE OVERALL THREAT.
