   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0249 AM CST SUN NOV 15 2009

   VALID 151200Z - 161200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR COASTAL SRN CA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER LOW NEAR THE FOUR CORNERS REGION WILL CONTINUE TO PROGRESS
EWD INTO THE CNTRL/SRN PLAINS. BEHIND THIS...UPPER RIDGING AND A
SURFACE HIGH WILL LINGER ACROSS MUCH OF THE WEST...WITH OFFSHORE
FLOW/CRITICAL CONDITIONS AFFECTING COASTAL SRN CA.

FARTHER E...AN UPPER RIDGE OVER THE ERN GULF OF MEXICO WILL SHIFT
EWD AHEAD OF BROAD UPPER TROUGHING OVER THE CNTRL STATES. A
LINGERING DRY AIRMASS IN THE SOUTHEAST WILL LEAD TO ANOTHER DAY OF
CRITICALLY LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITIES FOR FLORIDA.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - COASTAL SRN CA...

   PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG/GUSTY WINDS...LOW RH

WV IMAGERY SHOWS UPPER RIDGING IS ALREADY WELL ESTABLISHED ALONG THE
COASTAL WRN STATES...AND 08Z SURFACE ANALYSIS SHOWS A WEAK SURFACE
PRESSURE GRADIENT OVER SRN CA. SOME STRENGTHENING OF OFFSHORE
FLOW/NELY WINDS WILL LEAD TO WARM/DRY CONDITIONS IN DOWNSLOPE
REGIME...WITH RELATIVE HUMIDITIES FALLING INTO THE TEENS AND SINGLE
DIGITS. SUSTAINED WINDS NEAR 15 TO 25 MPH GUSTING OCCASIONALLY TO
NEAR 40 TO 50 MPH IN FAVORED PASSES AND CANYONS CAN BE ANTICIPATED
BY AFTERNOON. LITTLE RELATIVE HUMIDITY RECOVERY WILL OCCUR
   OVERNIGHT.

   ...FL PANHANDLE...
DRY AIRMASS CLEARLY SEEN ON WV IMAGERY AND SURFACE ANALYSIS THIS
MORNING WILL LINGER OVER THE SOUTHEAST. TEMPERATURES WARMING INTO
THE MID TO UPPER 70S WILL ONCE AGAIN ALLOW RELATIVE HUMIDITIES TO
DROP INTO THE UPPER 20S/LOWER 30S FOR SEVERAL HOURS IN THE FLORIDA
PANHANDLE...THOUGH WEAK SURFACE PRESSURE GRADIENT/SHALLOW MIXING
LAYER WILL LIMIT STRONGER WINDS FROM OCCURRING.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0325 AM CST SUN NOV 15 2009

   VALID 161200Z - 171200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR COASTAL SRN CA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER LOW IN THE CNTRL/SRN PLAINS WILL SLOWLY PROGRESS
EWD...BECOMING POSITIONED ROUGHLY NEAR THE MO/AR BORDERS LATE IN THE
PERIOD. MEANWHILE...UPPER RIDGING IN THE WEST WILL SLOWLY BEGIN TO
DEAMPLIFY AND SHIFT EWD AHEAD OF AN APPROACHING TROUGH IN THE
PACIFIC NORTHWEST. SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE INTERMOUNTAIN WEST
WILL BEGIN TO WEAKEN AND SHIFT EWD/SWD AS A RESULT...THOUGH OFFSHORE
WINDS IN COASTAL SRN CA CAN STILL BE ANTICIPATED THROUGH THE EVENING
   BEFORE THIS OCCURS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - COASTAL SRN CA...

   PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG/GUSTY WINDS...LOW RH

THE DRIEST CONDITIONS WILL AFFECT COASTAL SRN CA ON MONDAY AS
OFFSHORE FLOW CONTINUES ACROSS THE AREA. WARM TEMPERATURES IN
DOWNSLOPE REGIME AND DRY AIRMASS WILL LEAD TO SINGLE DIGIT RELATIVE
HUMIDITIES...WHILE GUSTS TO NEAR 40 MPH CAN BE ANTICIPATED IN
FAVORED PASSES AND CANYONS. THESE CONDITIONS WILL GRADUALLY SUBSIDE
BY LATE EVENING AS THE SURFACE PRESSURE GRADIENT WEAKENS AND WINDS
ALOFT BEGIN TO SHIFT AHEAD OF THE APPROACHING UPPER TROUGH.
