   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0309 AM CST MON MAR 01 2010

   VALID 011200Z - 021200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER-LEVEL SHORT WAVE TROUGH WILL MOVE EWD FROM THE SRN HIGH
PLAINS TO THE CNTRL GULF COAST. A SURFACE CYCLONE WILL DEVELOP ALONG
THE TX COAST THIS MORNING...SHIFTING EWD ACROSS THE NRN GULF. THIS
WILL RESULT IN A PACIFIC FRONT ACCELERATING EWD OFF THE LOWER
   COASTAL PLAIN IN TX.

...LOWER RIO GRANDE VALLEY OF TX...
AS LOW-LEVEL FLOW VEERS TO THE NW...SUBSTANTIAL DRYING WILL COMMENCE
THIS MORNING. THIS WILL AID DOWNSLOPE EFFECTS...MAXIMIZED
IMMEDIATELY ALONG THE INTERNATIONAL BORDER FROM NEAR LRD TO MFE.
RECENT MODEL FORECASTS CONTINUE TO DIFFER WITH THE EXTENT OF DRYING
IN THIS REGION WITH THE NAM MORE MOIST COMPARED TO GFS AND ETA-BASED
SREF MEMBERS. CONSENSUS SUGGESTS RH VALUES SHOULD FALL TO BETWEEN 20
AND 25 PERCENT IN THE MID-AFTERNOON...AS TEMPERATURES RISE INTO THE
MIDDLE TO UPPER 70S. A DEEPLY MIXED BOUNDARY LAYER WILL SUPPORT
SUSTAINED SURFACE WINDS AROUND 20 MPH...WITH SHORT-DURATION CRITICAL
   CONDITIONS EXPECTED.

   ...INTERIOR FL PENINSULA...
ALTHOUGH AFTERNOON RH VALUES OF 25 TO 35 PERCENT WILL AGAIN BE
COMMON OVER MUCH OF THE INTERIOR FL PENINSULA...PRESENCE OF WEAK
SURFACE RIDGING WILL RESULT IN LIGHT WINDS AND MINIMIZE ANY
   POTENTIAL WIND-DRIVEN FIRE THREAT.
