   AMPLIFIED LARGE-SCALE TROUGH WILL SLOWLY SHIFT EWD TOWARDS THE ROCKY
   MTN STATES TODAY. STRONG NLY DEEP-LAYER FLOW WILL PERSIST IN ITS
   WAKE OVER THE GREAT BASIN AND INTO THE LOWER CO RIVER
   VALLEY...REINFORCING AN INVETERATE DRY AIR MASS. MEANWHILE...A SFC
   COLD FRONT WILL MOVE SWD ACROSS TX AND WWD INTO THE DESERT SOUTHWEST
   LATE IN THE PERIOD...WITH AN EXPANSIVE AREA OF SFC HIGH PRESSURE
   COVERING THE PACIFIC NW EXTENDING INTO THE SRN PLAINS.
   
   ...LOWER CO RIVER VALLEY...
   DEEP-LAYER NLY FLOW WILL PERSIST THROUGH THE LOWER CO RIVER
   VALLEY...IN THE WAKE OF AN UPPER TROUGH POSITIONED TO THE E.
   MODERATELY STRONG FLOW IN THE 1-3 KM LAYER /SAMPLED AT 20 KTS BY
   KYUX VWP EARLY THIS MORNING/ WILL MIX TOWARDS THE SFC BY LATE
   MORNING. AS A RESULT...SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS OF 15-20 MPH WILL
   DEVELOP AND PERSIST INTO THE EVENING. THE PRESENCE OF A VERY DRY AIR
   MASS /CHARACTERIZED BY SINGLE DIGIT TO SUBZERO DEW POINTS/ WILL
   YIELD SINGLE DIGIT RH VALUES THROUGH MUCH OF THE DAY...SUPPORTING AN
   ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER THREAT.

   SFC COLD FRONT WILL STALL NEAR THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY TODAY. TO THE W
   OF THIS FEATURE...WLY SFC WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 15-20 MPH BY LATE
   MORNING IN RESPONSE TO A CONSTRICTING PRESSURE GRADIENT AND DEEP
   BOUNDARY LAYER MIXING . DESPITE SFC TEMPERATURES BEING SEASONABLY
   COOL /60S-70S/...A PLUME OF VERY DRY AIR CURRENTLY POSITIONED OVER
   THE REGION WILL SUPPORT RH VALUES FALLING INTO THE LOW-MID SINGLE
   DIGITS THIS AFTERNOON. WITH ONGOING EXTREME DROUGHT CONDITIONS...AN
   ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER THREAT WILL LIKELY MATERIALIZE AND PERSIST
   INTO THE LATE AFTERNOON/EARLY EVENING. LATER IN THE PERIOD...THE
   COLD FRONT WILL ACCELERATE TOWARDS THE W...WITH COOLER/HIGHER RH AIR
