   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0233 AM CST MON DEC 05 2011

   VALID 051200Z - 061200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR PORTIONS OF SRN CA MTNS AND
   COASTAL AREAS...
   ...SYNOPSIS...
A POTENT UPPER DISTURBANCE INITIALLY OVER THE LOWER CO RIVER VALLEY
THIS MORNING...WILL RAPIDLY ROUND THE BASE OF A LARGER SCALE TROUGH
AND MOVE EWD INTO THE SRN PLAINS BY TUESDAY MORNING. A MID LEVEL
RIDGE WILL PUSH SWD INTO THE PACIFIC NW. A SURFACE ANTICYCLONE WILL
RE-INTENSIFY ACROSS THE GREAT BASIN IN WAKE OF THE UPPER
DISTURBANCE...LEADING TO AN INCREASED PRESSURE GRADIENT AND OFFSHORE
   FLOW ACROSS PARTS OF CA.

...PORTIONS OF SRN CA MTNS AND COASTAL AREAS...
STRONG ENE-NELY WINDS ARE EXPECTED TODAY...WITH MODEL FORECAST
SOUNDINGS SHOWING THE STRONGEST SUSTAINED WINDS OCCURRING IN
THE MORNING HOURS /20-35 MPH/ WITH HIGHER GUSTS /45-60 MPH/. RH
VALUES WILL LIKELY DECREASE DURING THE DAYTIME HOURS...COINCIDING
WITH PEAK HEATING WITH UPPER SINGLE DIGITS TO TEENS EXPECTED...WITH
   POOR OVERNIGHT RH RECOVERY.

   ...PORTIONS OF CNTRL/NRN CA...
A DRY AIR MASS WILL SUPPORT RH VALUES IN THE TEENS OVER THE LOWER
ELEVATIONS. MEANWHILE...THE SFC PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL ENHANCE NLY
TO ELY FLOW IN SOME AREAS...WITH OFFSHORE FLOW NEAR AND NORTH OF SAN
FRANCISCO BAY AND THE NRN SIERRA. GIVEN THE MAGNITUDE OF DRY
AIR...RH VALUES MAY INTERMITTENTLY FALL TO NEAR CRITICAL THRESHOLDS.
HOWEVER...MODEL GUIDANCE INDICATES THAT COOLER TEMPERATURES AND THE
STRONGEST WINDS WILL OCCUR DURING THE FIRST HALF OF THE PERIOD.
