   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0306 AM CDT TUE JUL 03 2012

   VALID 041200Z - 051200Z

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A COMPACT UPPER LOW WILL CONTINUE AROUND THE PERIPHERY OF AN UPPER
RIDGE THROUGH CNTRL CANADA...WITH AN ATTENDANT SURFACE FRONT
STALLING ACROSS THE CNTRL ROCKIES AND GREAT BASIN. FARTHER EAST...A
SEPARATE COMPACT UPPER LOW WILL GLANCE NEW ENGLAND...WITH AN
ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT PROGRESSING SWD INTO THE GREAT LAKES AND
NORTHEAST REGIONS. HOT SURFACE TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE FOR MUCH
OF THE NATION WITH AN UPPER RIDGE REMAINING FIRM OVER THE CNTRL U.S.

   ...SRN GREAT BASIN...
SLY SURFACE WINDS WILL STRENGTHEN TO 15-20 MPH TO THE S OF A STALLED
FRONTAL BOUNDARY. HOWEVER...GIVEN THE ABSENCE OF ANY STRONGER
MID-UPPER FLOW...GUST POTENTIAL WILL BE LIMITED.
ADDITIONALLY...CLOUD COVER MAY LIMIT MORE SUBSTANTIAL SURFACE
HEATING...THOUGH MINIMUM RELATIVE HUMIDITIES IN THE LOWER TEENS MAY
   SUPPORT AN ENHANCED FIRE THREAT.

   ...MT/ID/WY BORDER...
SUSTAINED SWLY/WLY WINDS NEAR 15 MPH WILL CONTINUE FOLLOWING A
FRONTAL PASSAGE...THOUGH GIVEN THE PROGRESSION OF A COMPACT LOW AWAY
FROM THE AREA...THE POTENTIAL FOR STRONGER GUSTS COINCIDENT WITH
DIURNAL HEATING/MIXING WILL BE LIMITED. REGARDLESS...RELATIVE
HUMIDITIES IN THE UPPER TEENS MAY SUPPORT A MARGINAL FIRE THREAT.
