   CONCERNING...HEAVY SNOW

   SUMMARY...A 2 TO 3 HOUR PERIOD OF HEAVY SNOW IS EXPECTED TO SPREAD
   IN A BAND ACROSS THE REMAINDER OF NORTHERN NEW ENGLAND THROUGH
   11-13Z.

   DISCUSSION...AS THE DEEP...AND STILL DEEPENING...SURFACE CYCLONE
   MIGRATES NORTHEAST OF THE MASSACHUSETTS COAST...TOWARD COASTAL
   MAINE... DURING THE NEXT FEW HOURS...A BAND OF LOWER/MID
   TROPOSPHERIC WARM ADVECTION AND FRONTOGENETIC FORCING FOR ASCENT IS
   EXPECTED TO CONTINUE PIVOTING NORTHWARD ACROSS NORTHERN NEW
   ENGLAND...INTO THE ST. LAWRENCE VALLEY.  THIS LIFT IS NOW PROVIDING
   THE SUPPORT FOR THE HEAVIEST SNOW BAND...WHICH APPEARS LIKELY TO BE
   ACCOMPANIED BY 1-2 INCH PER HOUR SNOW RATES AS IT SPREADS RAPIDLY
   ACROSS NORTHEASTERN VERMONT AND THE REMAINDER OF NORTHERN NEW
   HAMPSHIRE AND MAINE BETWEEN NOW AND 11-13Z.  THE PERIOD OF HEAVIEST
   SNOW MAY LAST 2-3 HOURS...BEFORE A ZONE OF MID-LEVEL SUBSIDENCE
   WRAPPING AROUND THE NORTHEASTERN PERIPHERY OF THE APPROACHING
   MID-LEVEL LOW RESULTS IN DRYING OF THE FAVORABLE DENDRITIC GROWTH
   LAYER FROM THE SOUTH.
