   MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 0750
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0402 PM CDT WED MAY 28 2014

   AREAS AFFECTED...PARTS OF SERN MS

   CONCERNING...TORNADO WATCH 195...

   VALID 282102Z - 282200Z

THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR TORNADO WATCH 195 CONTINUES.

SUMMARY...STORMS MOVING THROUGH SERN MS WILL CONTINUE TO HAVE MAINLY
A BRIEF TORNADO THREAT AND POTENTIAL FOR LOCALLY STRONG WIND GUSTS.
ALTHOUGH THE MS STORMS SHOULD SPREAD INTO SWRN AL...A DECREASE IN
EFFECTIVE BULK SHEAR AND FORCING ATTENDANT TO LARGE SCALE ASCENT
WITH EWD EXTENT AWAY FROM THE WEAKENING LOWER MS VALLEY CLOSED LOW
SHOULD LIMIT THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT. CONVECTIVE TRENDS WILL
CONTINUE TO BE MONITORED...BUT A NEW WATCH IS NOT ANTICIPATED AT
THIS TIME TO THE EAST OF WW 195.

DISCUSSION...MOIST LOW-LEVEL CONFLUENCE EXTENDS NWD INTO SERN MS TO
ADJACENT SWRN AL. THIS COMBINED WITH ASCENT ALONG THE LEADING EDGE
OF A DECAYING MCS MOVING INTO THE ERN PART OF WW 195 SHOULD CONTINUE
TO PROMOTE NEW TSTM DEVELOPMENT INTO THE EARLY EVENING...WHERE THE
AIR MASS REMAINS MODERATELY UNSTABLE. THIS WOULD INCLUDE STORMS
MOVING INTO SWRN AL. TRENDS IN MOB WSR-88D VAD SHOWED STRENGTHENING
SLY WINDS IN THE 1-2.5 KM AGL LAYER SINCE 1930Z...ENHANCING 0-1 KM
AND 0-3 KM SRH FOR A CONTINUED TORNADO THREAT YET THIS AFTERNOON
ACROSS SERN MS. FURTHER WEAKENING AND SUBSEQUENT INFLUENCE WITH THE
LOWER MS VALLEY CLOSED SHOULD LIMIT THE EWD EXTENT OF THE SEVERE
WEATHER THREAT SUCH THAT A NEW WW IS NOT ANTICIPATED AT THIS TIME
   INTO SWRN AL.
