   Mesoscale Discussion 1638
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0201 PM CDT Sun Sep 10 2017

Areas affected...Florida and far southeast Georgia

   Concerning...Tornado Watch 483...

   Valid 101901Z - 102100Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 483 continues.

SUMMARY...Risk for tornadoes continues, with greatest risk currently
across the central third of Florida.

DISCUSSION...Latest radar loop shows the center of Hurricane Irma
near the Florida Gulf Coast just south of Naples. North/northeast
of the center, stronger convective cells continue moving
west/northwest across the peninsula within broader-scale convective
bands. Very strong low-level shear continues to foster low-level
rotation within several of the stronger cells, with most numerous
rotating cells continuing off the east-central Florida Atlantic
Coast. These rotating cells have periodically moved inland, and
will continue to do so over the next several hours -- accompanied by
risk for brief tornadoes. Risk will gradually expand/spread
northward with time in conjunction with the advance of Irma.
