   CONCERNING...BLIZZARD 

   VALID 231033Z - 231530Z

   SUMMARY...HEAVY SNOW WITH BLIZZARD CONDITIONS IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP
   ACROSS NERN CO THROUGH THE MORNING. SNOWFALL RATES COULD LOCALLY
   EXCEED 1 INCH PER HOUR AT TIMES.

   DISCUSSION...MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW ALONG THE FRONT RANGE OF CO IS
   EXPECTED TO GRADUALLY SPREAD EWD INTO A PORTION OF THE CO HIGH
   PLAINS DURING THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS. SFC MAP SHOWS A
   QUASISTATIONARY FRONT FROM NRN KS WSWWD TO A SFC LOW NEAR THE CO/KS
   BORDER. SFC LOW WILL GRADUALLY DEVELOP EWD ALONG BAROCLINIC ZONE IN
   RESPONSE TO A PROGRESSIVE UPPER JET...WITH A STRONG PRESSURE
   GRADIENT AND BARRIER JET BECOMING ESTABLISHED AS HIGH PRESSURE
   BUILDS SWD EAST OF FRONT RANGE THIS MORNING...CONTRIBUTING TO STRONG
   GRADIENT WINDS IN LOWEST 3 KM. WV IMAGERY IMPLIES BELT OF DEEP
   ASCENT CURRENTLY OVER NCNTRL CO...BUT THIS ZONE OF ASCENT WILL
   SPREAD EWD THROUGH NERN CO DURING THE MORNING AS UPPER JET EXIT
   REGION EMERGES OVER THE HIGH PLAINS. NEAR-SFC TEMPERATURES WILL FALL
   TO AOB 0 C OVER NERN CO IN RESPONSE TO BOTH COLD ADVECTION AND
   DYNAMIC COOLING...RESULTING IN PRECIPITATION TRANSITIONING TO ALL
   SNOW. IN ADDITION TO STRONG MESOSCALE FORCING FOR ASCENT...SOME
   CONVECTIVE ENHANCEMENT MAY ALSO OCCUR. BLIZZARD CONDITIONS WILL
   LIKELY EVOLVE OVER NERN CO LATER THIS MORNING AS GRADIENT WINDS
   INCREASE.
