   MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 0402
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   1048 PM CDT SAT APR 16 2016

AREAS AFFECTED...WESTERN NORTH TX AND SOUTHWEST OK

   CONCERNING...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 95...

   VALID 170348Z - 170545Z

THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 95
   CONTINUES.

SUMMARY...THE THREAT FOR STORMS PRODUCING PRIMARILY DAMAGING WINDS
AND/OR HAIL CONTINUES ACROSS WESTERN NORTH TX AND FAR SOUTHWEST OK
THROUGH LATE THIS EVENING TO THE EARLY OVERNIGHT.

DISCUSSION...MOSAIC RADAR IMAGERY SHOWED STORMS HAD EVOLVED INTO A
LINEAR STORM MODE FROM FAR SOUTHWEST OK /EASTERN GREER AND WESTERN
JACKSON COUNTIES/ INTO HARDEMAN AND WESTERN FOARD COUNTIES TX.
MEANWHILE...SOME SEMI-DISCRETE AND CLUSTERS OF STORMS WERE TRACKING
NORTHWARD THROUGH THE NORTHERN AND EASTERN PARTS OF WW 95.
ADDITIONAL STORMS WERE INCREASING IN COVERAGE AND INTENSITY TO THE
SOUTH/SOUTHEAST OF WW 95 IN PALO PINTO AND ERATH COUNTIES TX. THESE
LATTER STORMS SHOULD MOVE INTO THE SOUTHEAST PORTION OF THE WATCH BY
   0430Z.

THE NORTHERN EXTENT OF A SEVERE-WEATHER THREAT INTO THE EARLY
OVERNIGHT IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN WITHIN WW 95...AS A CONTINUED INFLUX
   OF MOISTURE/INSTABILITY PER STRENGTHENING SOUTH-SOUTHEASTERLY
LOW-LEVEL WINDS PERSISTS. THIS PROCESS SHOULD COMPENSATE FOR
ONGOING DIURNAL STABILIZATION FROM NORTH-SOUTH...WHILE EFFECTIVE
BULK SHEAR REMAINS SUFFICIENTLY STRONG FOR STORM ORGANIZATION.
